For those interested in developing. Obviously, Spoilers. Well, not many yet, but this is where they'll be. If you just wish to play the module, wait for a release in the "Modules" section on NWN Vault. New in the Hangard's Revenge edition--Hangard's Axe (Dwarves only) and Enserric the Swiss Army Knife. Other than that-Almost Nothing! A few debug messages removed, some areas and scripts fiddled with in minor ways. If you have ideas for improving Hangard's Axe, please let me know, I know it could be better. It seemed so simple, but lead me on a 10 day quest through the NWN lexicon, the vault, the Bioware forum, the web, etc. And I'm still unsure of the results.

My attempt at recreating Hangard's Axe. Now this, I could use some help with! Any bulet-proofing ideas or performance enhancement ideas would be greatly appreciated. But please, speak slowly to me, and use small words!

I have my first beta tester--my 6 year old son! I turned him loose and he zipped around the city area going into buildings and checking stuff out. Of course, he found a placeable that I had been meaning to script, and asked me why it didn't do anything when he clicked on it. Needless to say, the dumbwaiter in the Sign of the Forgehammer now transports you between floors...

Okay--
Struggling through the opening cutscene from waterdeep, need to do at least 2 more. Anyone want to help? We need a non-waterdeep/neverwinter midsized (FR maybe) town for the opening act. I'm not an FR buff, so are there any suggestions for setting? And why?
Also, I'm thinking of a starting range of 19-25th level--does this seem reasonable for someone that finished hordes?
If you drop by, tell me at what level you tend to finish hordes, it's been so long my memory is hazy about that.

So what aspect would you like to contribute on--Harhar. You knew there was a hook in there somewhere...
I'd like to walk a line here in detailed description of the central story line, and not put it out here wholesale, so if we do get to build this there will be some surpises in the finished project. Contributors have the choice of working indepenently on areas or ideas, or learning and contributing to that aspect away from here-use my e-mail link on the profile if that's what you want. It's not top secret, but focusing on spoilers here seems a bit silly, if people are going to want to play it eventually.
I'd like to think of a certain area in the mod as sort of a graveyard of sorts for other fragments people have been thinking about, but they may not be enough for a module, or it's nwn related and you're holding your breath for NWN2 and could use a low pressure team "dry run" or what ever. I'd like to see it as a home for wayward stuff--

I am now even more intrigued. I always found the ending to NWN stupid. Personally, I thought Aribeth was right. Neverwinter and Nasher did betray her and bloke (can't remember his name). A full exploration of who she is sounds very interesting. I agree with the no romance thing, especially after the lame romance in HotU. (Of course, as far as I am concerned there hasn't been a decent romance since BGII)
Anyhow, "seething internal conflict". I like that. It's a good point that someone as wrecked in the head as her has no business getting romantically involved.
Overall, given the direction you're suggesting for the mod, I'd say it sounds good.

Well, if she's been done _almost_ to death, let's get together and do the definative work that puts a stake in it for all time.
No, seriously, she's not that important per se, but the beauty is there were two seemingly unrelated ideas floating around in my head, and they connected suddenly at a level that was shocking and inspiring.
One was such a mod as you describe, with a certain twist--exploring the idea of the "devil's crossroads" from current mythology and its origins.
The other is poor Aribeth. Always being resurrected to be redeemed and romanced. I thought gee, could someone at least bring her back to finish the job in Neverwinter as a change from that--perhaps a la Steve B's Yartar series. But even that, as satisfying as it could have been to see Nasher's head on a pike, falls short of the possibilities of exploring Aribeth Twinsoul's seething internal conflict and its possible resolution. And NO ROMANCING ARIBETH. I think she has been through too much and is too strong in character to be going down that road so soon, without examining herself and resolving some of her internal conflict. I just don't see how she would be interested in that...and the mods that have made that jump make my skin crawl (no offense to their creators) with the disjunction.

I like the idea, as it dovetails with something I've been thinking of off and on for some time now. (A huge mod with lots of character specific features). However, I have to agree with BrianDavion that Aribeth has been done almost to death, and while you are of course correct in saying that how it's done will decide its quality, I think a lot of people would think it was "just another Aribeth mod" and be put off. How important is Aribeth to your story? Or to put it another way, could you make this mod around a different character?

Paladin, Monk, Cultist orders.
Mage enclaves.
Resident/migratory carnival with shadow dancer troupe, fortune tellers, gladiators, and Harper enclave.
Mercenary guild.
Barbarian tribal area/council fire/lodge.
Druid groves.
What have I missed?

So, let's take a look at setting--the beginning. Where else but the final battlefield in HotU. I argue that if Aribeth is there (an assumption we are making, sorry Deekin) no matter the outcome, she has really transcended mortal, er, limitations. I also argue that it's time for Kelemvor to get involved. Time for judgement.
I am not a FR buff. I'll need help with this aspect of fact checking.

Now, the concept of the oversoul. This is the player, much like we have Ao. The oversoul will be acknowledged from time to time, and the player will be given the option to access OOC information using a device called the stone of the oversoul. I'd like to propose 2 aspects--invisible objects by area with developer information and imbedded walkthrough information.

I know. I hear you. But I've played from level one too many times. I'd like to keep an epic focus. Besides, prequels aren't my bag. Already know how it'll turn out...
However, an effort is only as bland as its implementation. It's only a hook, and while it will serve as a backbone to the (to this point only hazily imagined) module itself, I'd like for it to feel almost optional as a central plot. I'd like a general free-form atmosphere where several optional side quests advance--loosely--the central plot arc and affect it's eventual outcome, which will happen near the end, but not as the end.
I do have a loose plan for the cental story arc. Before I flesh it out too much, I wanted to see if this sparked anyone's interest, and get some general input.

actually I think a post original campaign module featureing aribeth would be almost bland, it's been done, a real intresting module however might be an "orgin of aribeth" module. where the player takes aribeth from level 1 and basicly goes right up to the beginning of NWN's original campaign.
