Title  A Gnoll
Author  Mr. Dave
Submitted / Updated  07-25-2004 / 07-25-2004
Category  Generic
Gender  Both Genders
Format  BioWare Standard
I kept this one as ambiguous as I could so it would work as either a male or a female, and should suit for just about any class. I only spent about an hour and a half on it. It is made with a hyena photo added to one of my backgrounds. The tunic is from a theatrical photo of some no name actor. Enjoy :) UPDATE: I adjusted the lighting to be a little more dynamic.

ICENLORD, a werellama is a great idea! :)

Phaere, I'll send you the photo I have that has the very... Not so nice, looking hyena. I know for a fact that you will do the beastie justice. :)

I have been trying to make a portrait of Slamel, one of Team Leto, for about a year and a half now. Slamel is short for HalfSlothHalfCamel. I finally have an appropriat set of parts, but blending them together has proven to be quite a challenge, so it may not be done for a while."Me Go Beer!" - Mr. Dave

Urk, sorry for the lousy english. This "inspires me to do a picture of a were-llama.." Better? How about a were-camel? Another idea, what about using dingo's or wild african dog's as a gnoll base?

Very nice. Oddly enough this wants me to do a picture of a were-llama... I really don't know where that came from.... Really I dont... :) Good work!

I think I will do a gnoll. Sometimes I grow so weary of the same old humans and half-elves I make. I like a new challenge. And as I looked up how a gnoll should look I did find a pic where a gnoll really resembles a hyena, so you were totally right about using a hyena. But looking up hyena pics on the net only shows cute and cuddly hyena's
. I want a vicious looking beast. You wouldn't happen to have a picture with a hyena looking mean and nasty, do you Mr_Dave? It would really help if you did.

I forgot to say: Yes Phaere, snout is the word you were looking for.
Snout, muzzle, mouth. They all are the same thing. :)

Hyenas are one of those great mysteries, like the platypus. On the outside, they look like a cross between a giraffe and a dog, while their bone structure, especially the skull, looks like a member of the cat family.
Makes me wonder what a saber tooth tiger actually looked like... I bet it had a long snout like an ardvark, or an elephant. ;)"Me Go Beer!" - Mr. Dave

Phaere, that would be really cool if you did a gnoll, for two reasons.
1: We need more creature portraits.
2: I think you could pull off a fantastic gnoll, much better than this, for sure.

I have a couple other source pics I had been playing around with for the past month, one of which has a seriously evil look on its face. The photo is weak and grainy however, so it is taking a lot more work than I had intended it to. If I can get it to look right, it will not have that 'pondering' look to it like this one."Me Go Beer!" - Mr. Dave

He looks gentle and smiley around the mouth but mad and wrathful around the eyes. I can't decide whether to cuddle him or whip out my sword.

Nice gnoll. I was thinking of making a gnoll too, after someone posted a gnoll-request with my half-orc. I like this one, I would imagine a more sharp snout (??) (uuuh not quite what I mean I think but I forgot the proper word for dogface)like what pitbulls don't have and retriever dogs do have. Well, forget it anyway I am talking nonsense now. But I like this picture anyway.

sigh ... English ...

I think hyena's are interesting. One of the true matriarchal animal cultures. I like the softness of the fur. Good work!

I do like the picture a lot, but don't you think he's a little friendly to be a gnoll?
