Well, I remember having a conversation with you about commenting, and it occurred to me that I promised to play your module and comment on it and had yet to do so. I'm not sure if you'll even see this, but a promise is a promise (better late then never, although in this case, that may not be true, unfortunately).

What can I say...? This mod has potential. There were things about it I really liked, but I guess the overall feeling I got from what I could play was that it was just unfinished. I got stuck before I could even get into the town, and after searching all areas for what I'd missed for an hour, I had to give up. I'm sorry. I think it could be a pretty decent mod with some more polish, but this is "underdone."

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!

Specific things I found wrong:

- In the training room, the fairy levelled me DOWN a level. I think if you're going to do that, you need to warn people, especially when the mod page recommends a level range for which I chose a character. I reloaded the game and just didn't talk to that fairy again.

- There was a little fairy I missed talking to because I didn't see it at first, and only noticed it while fighting some orcs in front of the gypsy's house. It came in to help me fight and got killed.

- I was greated at the door of the gypsy house by a voice, but when I went in and looked around, nobody was home suddenly.

- I ventured over to the orc cave next, and the guard started talking to me with the assumption that I'd talked to someone else already which wasn't the case. I did like, however, the password bit. Made me LOL.

- I cleaned out the entire orc cave, but afterward, I was not permitted to enter the town by the guards. I looked over and searched that cave a full three times (plus the hollowed tree area) and got nothing. This is where I was stuck and gave up.

- I also don't really like huge areas, but that's a personal preference. Maybe there was an important reason for the area being that big, but because I couldn't finish it, I don't know.

There were redeeming attributes about this mod. I liked some of the layouts and atmosphere. There were some great lighting choices and placement of "stuff." I also liked the initial fights with your orcs. And I was intrigued as to what would happen once I entered the city (wish I'd gotten there).

END SPOILERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, this mod needs to be finished. With some decent work, it could be very good. Please take these comments in stride. I went into detail just because you'd asked for rigorous feedback. I hope this helps with any future game making endevours you try. Don't give up!

Played this along with sly and just got round to rating it.
# SPOILERS WARNING #


Anyway, the ending was good with a mix of puzzle &
storytelling - very satisfying. In the end the lack of
hiding places made the answer obvious so perhaps a few
containers would provoke more thought.
The episode with the portals in the crypt was maybe a bit
overdone, portal wise, but that's just my opinion. However
once the final room was reached and the quest completed the
escape portal only sent the first character back out
sending myself back to the graveyard area. Thus forcing me
to loop back through all the remaining portals only to find
the end room portal had dissappeared, trapping me,
meanwhile another of the party had entered the crypt
effectively trapping him too.
We had to exit & reload to get out of the situation.
There were only 3 of us so we didn't notice the lack of
doom priest uniforms that others have reported, perhaps you
could make the encounter with them scaleable and this would
solve the lack of uniforms crisis - I don't know if this
would work as I haven't tried mod building yet. Maybe the
engine only scales for level and not opponent numbers- i
don't know.
All in all a good module apart from the crypt exit bug.
Oh yeah and the smiths house portal - was there a
reasoning behind it being fake ?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Hope you can get back to
it and finish part one. I will look into the cemetary area
for bugs. I played it a few times and besides having a few
laggy spots it was ok. Thanks again for feed back Sly.

Played this yesterday with a couple of friends. The first
quest with the ogre was good.

The second - help the dwarven smith get his hammer was
impossible because each time we tried to enter the portal
it would disappear.

We exited Shannon by the south gate and things started
getting a little buggy after that.

Still needs a bit more work to smooth out the rough edges.

Oh and one more thing. Just a nice thing to do for
others. I am thankful for your comment for it helps me to
learn as I go, but others would find this comment a
spoiler. I know that you want to warn others about how bad
you thought it was, so just say I thought it was bad and

Catspaw..I am going to change the amount of players to
three I guess. Also I must say something about playing
this in non PvP mode. If you nuke and hit a pc that is a
commoner, then all the commoners become agro, and untill
you die and reset you will be attacked by everything. The
balor was made strong so you don't kill him. Why have the
uniforms if you can. The grave guardian is on commoner
faction, so again you must have agroed a commoner while in
full PvP mode. Mostly I am very sorry that your time spent
in my world was so terrorable. If there is something I can
do to make it up to you email me. Oh ya I am a really bad
speller and will work on learning there and thier..sorry
for that.

My guild played this Friday night on our server. What a
diaster. Every time someone would lock up and had to
reboot... so would the gameline. Everyone would be
teleported back to the main entry point. We had to kill
ogre over and over again. Town guards attacked us after we
crossed the gate to the cemetary, the gates got closed and
locked.
The leaders missed the doom soldiers uniforms... [only 3
uniforms... 8 of us, but we could have taken 3 in and
brought 2 suits back for 2 more players at a time].
Balor killed us repeatedly edidn't even get to the grave
guardian [Sorcerer 40/Fighter 40 with 166 Feats and an AC
of 130] can't say we missed much by not getting there.

Oh... learn the difference between "there" and "their".

Hey sleepingdog..I hear ya..When I made it I wa thinking
solo player. I then found a few ways to make it a multi
player game YEHAW..cuz thats what makes this game so fun.
Well I made it a little harder, or did I.. I might have
made it a bit harder then I thought. Please S-dog give it
a try with a party. I did it with me as a 15 monk and a
level 15 rogue- fighter. If you play smart and try single
pulls..move to an area that the archers cant hit you when
your fighting..or run to the archers and get them into mele
mode...kill the wizard mobs first ..blah blah hehe you know
just play smart..you can rock this mod..I would rather it
be hard then easy..I hope you feel the same. Well friends
thank you so much for your comments and support . I must
say for a little while there I was losing heart. Not
anymore gunna finish part two and get it out there for my
brothers and sisters....Three cheers for the NWN community
you all rock!!

Hey Slyer,

I saw your post on Desert Madness which was the one you
copied to 11 sites, I guess, and I have to say that I
disagree with Southpark (no offense) and completely agree
with you. I really can't see the owners of those pages
minding the post (I was actually a little jealous he didn't
use mine :) because I can imagine they can relate. I'm a
mod builder too, and I actually copied your post and
reiterated it on the same page, and copied it to my own mod
page. I didn't consider it spam or insulting at all, but an
attempt to strengthen the NWN community. It takes an
incredible amount of work to make a mod, and I think it's
very little to ask that people comment on it. You don't get
paid to make mods, you do it for the love of the game, and
I think that asking people to comment on the ones they
played is very justified. How else will the builders get
better unless everyone provides feedback.

I'm going to DL your mod and give it a try soon, slyer (I'm
deep into the sequel for my first mod, so playing has taken
a back seat to building lately, but I'll make a real effort
to get to yours when I can) and I guarantee, you will
receive feedback from me.

Southpark, I understand your feelings about the post, but
you've got to admit, he has a valid point. I really don't
think the other mod builders mind that post appearing on
their pages. It's a lot of work (true, it's fun, but still,
it's a LOT of work). The point here is to make this great
game last, and that will only happen if the mod builders
know what they're doing right and what they're doing wrong.
While it's true that many people do take the time to post
comments, the vast majority don't. They just DL and run.
These are the folks the post was aimed at, not the
community faithful that are doing their duty. Don't feel
insulted; if your posting comments, you can feel good about
doing your part. But for those who aren't, come on, people!
Get on it!!

Long live NWN and it's fantastic community!!

I tried this mod as a L15 Monk then as a L15 Fighter. In
both cases I gave up as I thought the encounters were too
hard (I don't like to use respawn).

Having said that what I did see was good. A training area
to start with, an epic story unfolding. My guess is that
with a group it would work very well. I think that part 2
will be welcomed by many.

Given that I did not finish the mod I will not post a vote.

Slyer, don't worry. I'm not a rep of NWVault and you're
not in trouble. I'm also not your enemy. I'm sorry if I
indicated that somehow in what I wrote-- it wasn't my
intention. I didn't agree with everything said in it but
it was a good speech. I just (personally) thought it
belonged here. By the way, you're getting plenty of
downloads. Mods can take weeks or months before showing
up on the top-rated list, and yours is off to a nice
start, conscidering the brief amount of time it's been
out. Even I've looked over this site before, so people
have been coming.

I am soooo very sorry Southpark. I hope you can forgive
me. I was just really troubled by the lack of responce. I
ment it in a nice way and was just hoping to reinspire
people. I would have just put it on my site...but I am not
getting very many downloads as you can tell. soooo I
figured I would spread the word. I hope that because of my
post on 11 sites that I dont condem us all to no voting and
comments. Also if I have upset any of you that do vote and
comment then..That is a missunderstanding , cuz I was not
mentioning you in that post. Anyways I am so sorry for the
huge, possible, trouble I have caused putting my post on

Please do continue with part two! We played with a group of
three and it was one of the better modules I have played.

I only have two minor comments :

There were alot of portals, though as you're being sent
around as some mystic bints champion I suppose it fits the
story.

The dialog. Sometimes quite wordy. Splitting it up a little
more using a blank dialog option for the player would be
good. Also some of the dialog seemed more directed to a
single player. We all wound up being called a champion at
one point or another.

Hello fellow NWN players. I wanted to say something that I
noticed and figured I would remind you all about. I was
looking at a bunch of mods, noteing how many downloads,
voting, and comments. Well there are almost always some
downloads, rarely a comment, and almost never a vote. Now
if this is because you didn't like it or you don't feel it
is comment or vote worthy fine. Though if we are all just
getting lazy then thay is going to hurt us all. If we
don't speak our minds about mods, the people building them
will never know what we want. Also if you don't vote for
what you like builders will never know they are onto
something, good mods will not appear in the top rated
section, and the whole pleasure of mod building become
BLAH! So please friends take the time to vote and comment
on mods you try. You are what inspires us, the reason we
build them. Your pleasure your fun is what we hope for.
We only ask for feedback to keep us going. Just help us
help you. Thank you

If you don't have a lot of downloads with the original
chapter, writing more chapters (2-3 probably) will make it
standout, at least on the list of downloads. Some players
like to wait until all the chapters/modules of a series
are complete before beginning it. The main reason is why
start a great story, when in all likelyhood the creator
won't finish telling it? Most modules are the first part
in a series and probably 95% of them never have a second
part. So, the downloads WILL start, you just may have to
show people that you're one of the 5% who will get the
story finished. And yeah, I'd keep the name too... it's
an old western from the fifties (I think) that only gets
shown sometimes on American Movie Classics or the like.
The only reason I know about it is it's my mother's
favorite movie. Best of luck to you.

Shannon Doewa is the name of an old movie. Unless you
intentionally used the same name, you may want to change

Hi all. This is my first mod, and wow what a great
experiance. To make a story come to life right before your
eyes. I had so much fun making this. I spent about a
month, though that was because I had to learn how to use
the mod builder and the scripting deal was well you
know...HARD!!! hehe When I finished I had one wish.
That the people that played it had a REALLY GOOD TIME and
if for but a few hours where gone from there rooms and away
in a land full of adventure.
