Ahh! The fresh morning air! Time for some good ol' huntin'. Sure is empty around here though, haven't seen a single person for a couple of hours. Is there no prey in Rendan Forest or is there something else wrong with the forest? I guess i will see that since im here now.

Pejay used the aurora engine and the nwn platform to create something unique. A bit like Doom or Half-life it is a combat heavy and very deadly survival type game where you have no equipment and have to succeed (or die trying) against all odds. It includes "traps" (take the wrong turn and die) and monsters able to finish your character instantly (like a bunch of rats with a +20 attack bonus). It is not a bad game per say, not worse that "Pac-Man clone" for instance but it is clearly not a DnD RPG module and should have been labelled and documented properly (e.g. Freeform). As a console/video game this may be worth a try.

1-2: The module author did not take the time to fully test or check the module.

Sent an email to you but just in case. There is a game stopping prob in game. Just before you enter swamps you would have met the henchman, but as you mentioned you have now deleted him. However for you to enter swamps "I think I will speak with that man first" appears, now you can not so end of game.

I know it is more time for you but if someone takes down a 6th lvl character (fighter) he or she will have min of +1 plate, shield etc. Would he or she then prefer to don on hunting gear etc.

Possibly take away all equipment but specify this. This can be an in between adventure. Ahh nice bit of hunting, pleasant stroll through the countryside and then "Where the hell am I"

To bad about those save games, but to me it kinda seems like you did finish it with a lvl 1 char so i'll be nice and add you to hall of fame ^^.

About being able to start with lvl 1 char and then level it to lvl 6 in module: That would be a bit wasted effort since im sure most ppl know where to get a level up module. No need really for level up options. But a good idea, although i to lazy to implement it. :P

cleric/fighter actually sounds quite good, never thought of that. Both able to use some magic and fighting. And heavy armor to.

I didn't really get that last sentence but cheers on you to, heh.

tried attaching beginning and end of game saves but boh have now disappeared? As I mentioned I finished 10/1 ftr rgr, my last save is now only 8/1 which means I'd have to fight the efreet again. That was a mare killed him, thought yippee, appears again then dead (not that quick remember I am running around a lot, tried toe to toe and got killed in 4 or 5 blows, think I may have hit him once). When I kill him and up he gets off I go and find the yetis etc etc.

So and forgive my ignorance do you know where those saves had gone and screenshot how in dummy terms do you send that.

I am now going to download updated mod and prob give it a go on weekend with a 6th lvl character (Which reminds me, whoops, to make it really interesting you could offer the players to create a new character at beginning 1st level and then offer the chance to level up to 6 to 10 th level.

The 6th level characters I have are pretty ordinary and none have dodge, mobility, point blank shot, rapid shot or weapon focus longbow/longsword.

Am going through a stage where I use clr/ftr prob 3to5 : 1 ratio eg 5/1 clr/ftr 7/2, 9/1 etc. Found this combo to be toughest yet. Although great axe wielding wpn master is quite nasty.

I digress a lot could you help with prob cheers

Thank you for your input on the module ericdoman. I'll try to answer your questions now:
The number of arrows is supposed to be limited, but i guess as you say that most characters who use bows will have a healthy amount from the beginning. And also, i did put out alot more arrows in the update, plus that you can make your own arrows later, so arrows aren't that sparse.

About the barrier, it does not damage characters who are evil, just the spiders so that won't happen. You also get exp from killing the spiders with the barrier, but less than from killing with exterminator.

The scarecrows are supposed to both give you exp, i guess i will have to change this.

Hm... easter eggs you say? I guess i could do that. I will update the module as soon as i can.

About the thief with the belt. I was thinking when i was there that i was going to implement his death in some way but... i kinda forgot :P

The character is supposed to be exported.

Just take a screenshot with your character screen open, i'll believe you.

Thought of a few more things.

If you increased the number of arrows at beginning and during game you could possibly state that those players who like using longbows would be entertained by this game. Most fighter types at 6th level will have I reckon 500 plus arrows some will have a + or elemental damage

After the butchers you enter a room with barrier vs evil. Does that mean if a character took down an evil character he may get stuck?

One of the non hostile scarecrows gives you 350xp the other one nothing.

Would have been nice to find out more about what was going on until the end, clue on dead person in cavern. Who was Sando? Maybe a few more easter eggs around, swamps eg otherwise just reduce it to one area with Sando at end. Will then feel like an NWN mod other than a video/arcade game.

The thioef with open locks belt?

Found some stuff on the NME heal kit (very useful), slow and isaac's lesser missile storm scrolls.

At the end is your character exported

Tried to send you saved files but it takes forever. First of all I'd go to hotmail and then attach via browser, go into NWN folder and into save folder.

Oh yeah started as a 1st lvl fighter. 4 palces to rest, one in the forest, twice after completing an area and dropped into resting place with portal and scarecrow field. Didn't even spot that until everything had been killed. Down by the tent?

When I had killed maestro butcher and used his wand to teleport to hive found the same wand there and could use it again. Spiderfang darts were very good.

Developed character based on the mod. Started Str 16, Dex 15, Con 14, Wis 8, Int 14 and Cha 8 and at 1st lvl point blank shot, dodge and weapon focus longbow.

Will prob try this again inthe future with a 6th lvl saved character and updated mod.

Having seen that your brother had completed the mod, Well being a bit competitive had to have another go (with original). Have saved start and each level upto end made it to 10/1 ftr/rgr about 3500 xp from next level.

Cheated a little bought 16 x 99 arrows, 4 x 50 darts and 1 clw at the beginning ie use a level up mod buy stuff and save character. As an estimate I used up 1500 arrows and about 170 darts.

Exterminator did work most of the time. Had 1 level of ranger to see if I could spot sneak spiders nope not once.

Had to reload a couple of times mostly from the spiders poison and fallen angels.

Got very lucky with a couple of saves as well.

Vote always a few extra for quick replies but low for me because it would have been impossible to play without arrows and with weapons and armour available at first level. I have never ran and shot more in my life. Prob took about 8 hours long in total. I do like the customized magic. One of the fallen angels dropped a hunting knife so I could upgrade that one as well, another reason for ranger class I dual wield and aberration as favoured enemy.

Played hardcore throughout except for those odd ocassion when I could shoot at something but they could do nothing back in return.

How do I send proof, got most of the saves saved

Ok, so the changes have been made and i hope that all the people who tried the module and was put off by the insane difficulty will retry it now.
I am stil interested in hearing from people who actually manage to pull it off with a level 1 character, if you feel like getting incredibly frustrated over a module.
So far i know of 1 person who have done this, except from me.
Hail to Ko Bo, who did it with a level 1 Barbarian. :P

I see what you mean and after careful consideration i have decided to make some changes to the module, as well as edit the recommended character level. I hope that you will retry playing the module when these changes have been made. The module might have been a bit to hard for level 1 characters if youre not into saving and lodaing every 1-2 minute. But if anybody manages to get to the end with a level 1 character please let me know, i will be mightily impressed. Even i, who made the module had big trouble getting to the end.

Respect for replying but why make this "insanely hard" module. Higher level characters would have been better or possibly better equipment. Plate/Chain (prob not right for stalking deer) or studded leather with bonuses and additional (better bonuses afterwards, through potions, bones). The same for weapons. I know a hunting knife sounds right but possibly another weapon (Longsword/Battle Axe) knife can be used for skinning. Possible protections from acid, diseases. Maybe a mighty longbow +2 damage, more arrows, maybe a shield (for the more difficult monsters), more resting places. Better understanding of what is going on, possibly a journal left with one of the researchers.

I know authors take a lot of free time to make these mods and all of us players thank them all BUT we have to take some of our own free time to play (I may be an exception to the rule, as I have a lot of spare time and I play many NWN mods). But to me this mod has not been carefully thought out for players.

About the 8th deer, it is not supposed to be any 8th deer in the forest, you are supposed to fall down before you find any more deers, because finishing the main quest (hunting deers) would mean the module would pretty much be over, no?
The demons lair is a boss and as such he is supposed to be hard, meaning getting him on the first try would be a waste. Also, about the spiders, the exterminators DO work. But as Sando says when he gives you them he wants to try them out and it might take a while before they kill the spiders. See it as this, the exterminators have a aura that damages them ALOT.
But if you want to, you could try the module with a higher lvl char if you dont like the challenge rating i set (wich is pretty much insanely hard).

I could not find 8th deer and so into cave find a butchered camp and on a mission to find Yasmin or whatever.

Find waters and thief belt, as well as ter? fighter. He joins up OK 2nd lvl and realise he's not going to last so give him my longsword I take his scimitar (he has longsword wpn focus?)

Off we go meet Sandos at bridge and down into disease caverns, where I upgrade eqpt as much as possible. Approx 5 mins in total and about to enter a cave henchman says thank you and leaves party (NWN record methinks) So off I go meet the old hags and diseased doggie very difficult/impossible respectively manage to kill all but one pairing but not much ccw left. Fortunately saved on entering portal as there are about a dozen diseased rats in each chamber, no way back out. Finally enter demons, yes impossible demons lair. Has 2 evard tentacles, surrounded by a doom/bane aura and wounds you. OK run and shoot again (I am just wondering if I had not come down as a ranger with 99 arrows and taken arrows from henchperson what coudl you do, I know there's make every arrow etc count but) Anyway this demon also gets healed mby some other critters. So kill them first and then finally the demon, run and shoot. Not many arrows left and onto heal meat. Use wand and meet up with Sandos and we have a discussion as if I know what is going on. Anyway behind web are impossible spider critters. Given three exterminators lay them down, spider crosses nothing happens and I die.

This mod reminds of another pretty appalling mod. First level characters, first room dire spider, corridor will o wisp and a bone golem.

If there was a very easy always massive critical hits and can't die mode I still wouldn't do this mod.

I have spent a couple of wasted hours playing this and typing out this message.

If you wish to do this mod take down an epic level character.

What a complete waste of time.

Combats are very hard but it's prob best to find the fawn deers first and kill them after finding firewood and roast the meat (CCW x 2).

After taking a fighter down first, missing the my stuff and then trying to kill one of the stags with ashort sword, it took a couple of reloads and all of my clw potions (compulsory 3 for 1st lvl character). The stag deer is classed as very difficult, it's ac will prob be the same as yours and it's ability to hit prob the same (16 str fighter) HOWEVER it regenerates. Anyway got killed by a doe deer DOH.

So second attempt this time a ranger found bag and took down another ranger (there are bracers in bag that are +1 dex) point blank shot, wpn focus Longbow, favoured enemy animals and a 17 dex human.

Got the bear at 2nd lvl but can not find the 8th deer and can not remember which area I killed deer in. I know it was not starting area and maybe the next area east. Which means a prob loss of min 350xp.

Fell into cave and then reloaded to once more find 8th deer (they are sometimes difficult to spot) and have been doing this for 30mins

The mod isn't too bad not a 7 but not an 8. Although only partially through and am now going to spend more time trying to find deer (found darts). Oh yeah glad I took down ranger with the extra 99 arrows have used up about 40 already (if palying in easy or normal mode, maybe you could kill off deer with the 20 arrows, definite with darts based on lots of saves and reloads. Did not have one critical throughout so far.

Just wondering with the deer if you have entered an area where there is a deer but you miss it and enter a new area do you miss that opportunity. Used animal empathy on one (find a deer attack it with help from other deer and hopefully weaken both so it is easy to kill both), moved into a new area with it, once empathy wears off it disappeared.

I realise that this module might be harder than the average module by quite a bit, but it's made that way on purpose. It's not like it's impossible, but it takes a bit of work.
It's supposed to be played by a level 1 character with the starting equipment, so playing with a level 12-15 character would be... easy, to say the least. And about not finding where to go, you are supposed to explore the forest thoroughly and not finding the place where you go right away is not necessarily bad. And also, did you try the whole module or did you give up? I'd like to hear what you think about other stuff than the forest.

Combat: the combat is not Very Hard. It is *Insane*. Playing this mod with a 1st level character is like playing HoTU with a 1st level character.
This module can be quite enjoyable if you start it with 12-15 level and appropriate equipment.
Layout/Design: often copy/paste. While not too bad overall and justified (it's the forest, after all), some map pins or hints would be nice. I had to open the module in the toolset once to find where to go...
Fun, Originality/Creativity, Quality Control: present. The mod is a little bit obscure and strange, reminded me of works of "thegeorge" ...
My vote summarizes what I said above.

And remember, as stated in the readme, this module is VERY hard, so saving often is a must, while me and my brother were playtesting it we sometimes had to retry enemys several times.
