Three of us played this series multi-player and we enjoyed it a lot. Good hack and slash adventure.

I just finished playing all the modules in the series. GREAT MODULE! I loved the plot, the side quests, the NPCs, and the henchmen. I used the bard throughout all modules. You did a great job. I only found minor problems that did not detract from the game: 3-4 dialogues that contained double words like the the, on the on the; the damned priest kept attacking me in plains of despair until after I had complete the staff quest. The epilogue didn't seem to have any reason for being there. I will definitely recommend this to my NWN playing friends.

I really enjoyed this series so far. I like the asylum quest. It took me awhile to find the way to the final battle in it. Again, the setting is well thought out and enjoyable.

I have fun playing this sequel. Again, many battles, plenty of loot, different places to visit, some side quests to keep your mind away from the main quest, making the mod more interesting. I especially liked the whole asylum quest. Great atmosphere, the music was nice, took the rogue henchman with me to help me with the hidden doors, being a fighter and all, I had difficulty at finding them.
The same henchmen from chapter one, plus a special one ;). Unfortunately, no interaction with them. Fights were challenging. Some areas felt a little empty. The music when battling in foothills didn't feel suitable to me. I had to turn it off. But that's just my personal taste. I decided to kill the orc but the quest wasn't transfered to the finished section, unless, something else should have happened that I'd missed.
But like chapter 1 this sequel is well made. I actually liked it more. And i haven't noticed any bugs. I'm looking forward to discover what will happen in the final chapter :)

I,m going to stick with a 9 as thsi was one of the first epic/large mods to be released. I would advise players not to use a great axe wielding wpnmaster (FTR/rg/wpnmastr, skill point on tumble) as it is a bit easy and I,m playing very difficult mode. The big prob if you are a non-ftr is that your henchmen stop levelling at 15. At the end of the game you may well be 22nd lvl? Basically spellcasters will need to buy a lot of summoning scrolls (basically grt planar binding). Look out for your henchmen as well when they die in combat they will resurrect and will fight for you but not as a henchman, you lose out on xp when they kill NME.

Turcople

Hopefully you sorted out Some Assembly Required prob (deserves a 1 on vote for title). OK Asylum. Firstly after going through seweres you reach ground/1st lvl. In small storeroom in south area is hidden trapdoor. Can't remeber exact order but go through that then others to reach next level.

You will find another prison like room and 3 doors appear. Stand in front of them looking south and go through 1st door on left.

You are now in another largish cell. There is a small alcove in N wall and a door will appear, go through it to 3rd lvl.

Go to end of large room and search a hidden door should appear (you prob will have amulet of master or helm of the watch just to increase search skill) and then?

Still playing very difficult mode and great axe wileding weapon master is now into 3 figs on criticals so again a bit easy. Also henchelf will not go above 15th lvl. Would only level up when I was 2 lvls in front at the beginning ( be careful as when she levels up all of the equipment you have gien her will disappear) This is a prob as well cos yu can keep taking eqpt from her and selling it off but my character has now more gold than he can spend apart from on scrolls. Can not buy any better eqpt.

I don't get the asylum. The characters and storyline all seem to be missing in action. I spent about an hour on it before I finally broke down and used the dm_spawnitem code to get a watchman's helm and an amulet of the master. Then I started over in the basement and worked my way through all three floors in detect mode. Even so I didnt locate anything I hadnt already found. I suppose it's possible that I missed a secret door, but not bloody likely. Nevertheless I spent another two and a half hours or so searching the same empty areas and labelling all of the secret doors. I have been through all of the accessible areas at least a half dozen times.

There were some inmates in the basement but they dont speak. The first floor had a few undead and the kitty who had nothing useful to add (apart from being more than just a hallucination). There was nothing alive on the second floor... as far as I can tell there was nothing of interest or any significance at all on the second floor. The whole thing seems to be secret doors that lead to rooms with more secret doors that lead to other rooms with secret doors that lead you right back to where you started.

I have reached my limit of frustration so I guess I'm gonna skip this part and move on if possible. I enjoyed part one, but part two so far has been the exact opposite of fun. Two thumbs down. I haven't abandoned all hope yet though. The asylum is only one subquest... right?

Excellent module. I enjoyed the full revelation of the story line which you didn't get to see in the first module in the series. The maze in the beginning of the module was very well done as was use of the tried and true tilesets from the toolkit. Awesome scenery and map layouts. Point in case, Grimm's layer and the various forest maps which I found enjoyable.

**Spoiler** follows

Never have I lost my weapons, like I did against the half-orc. I may have to build a fighter which specializes in disarm.

Barely better than part 1. I found it pretty boring.

Finished this just now, moving on to number three. I thought this was better than the first one, because the story is better, and the world is more interesting in this one. Oh and that orc fight in the beginning, man that was fun! =) All in all, very good hack and slash adventure!

This has probably been great at some point. Unfortunately it seems quite outdated now. Thanks to the author for the entertainment, in any case!

Blackguards, Duergar with no Drow, and a Jabberwocky made me think of American McGee's Alice.
A unique combo of foes.

OK, figured out the 'blue dragon thing'. This is not a glitch. Play through it and all becomes clear.

Having blue dragon issues. When I come to the blue dragon lair past the wood elves area, the dragon is asleep. Conversation does not work and when I have attacked him there is no way for me to do damage to him - although he damaged me just fine! I searched for secret doors with a Search 20 score and turned up nothing. What am I missing?

I killed the two blue dragons, but can't figure out where else to go. Anyone care to help me out? I retraced my steps but I cleared out all the areas. Where is the main blue dragon and how do I complete the frost giant's quest?

Thanks,

Newbie

What is the difference between Asengaard and Asengaard 2A?
Do you play one and then the other?

HELP!! I am having a great time with this mod but am not as smart as I think I am... I have talked to (and killed, hehe) both blue dragons, but nothing new is happening. I've wandered around and around and around (whoa, am I dizzy now).

The history is fantastic, but the henchman's are only dumb and no history with them :(.
But it's a big module and well done
Thanks T

Aha! OK, I answered my own question (below) about what to do next; I continued forward and have gotten what I needed... but the amulet delivery is still a total mystery to me. Again - great mods! I've given high marks (I hope everyone remembers to, hey?) and bravo!

Hi Trinity, loving CoB2! I think I'm stuck right now though. Help? Here or privately, either way is much appreciated.

SPOILERS
________

So, I'm trying to get the staff part, and have visited both the blue dragons - first Axix, then Gorg. Axix told me he knew little to nothing, and I left in peace. Then I found Gorg, who professed ignorance, but asked me to take an amulet to her mate, which I assume is Axix. She mentions going to the west, and so I figure it's either Axix, some blackguards I killed, or one of the wandering deer. But in any event, returning to Axix never opens a dialogue window, he just says (as in, vocalizes) something haughty and a line appears above him, something like "Begone or die, etc.!"

So, then I returned to Gorg, who chastised me for asking to repeat the directions etc. I was getting nowhere fast, so, of course, when in doubt, kill the thing (I saved before doing so, of course, and didn't save anything after that). Nice loot on Gorg, just some blood on Axix. I searched for secret doors, nothing. I also found it curious that the amulet delivery never appeared in any manner in my quest log. Oh, and I also tried wearing the amulet when talking to Axix.

So... I haven't yet visited the dwarven mines (I just know it's there), I've done the Grimm quest, and killed that poor tired orc hero. Should I just keep playing until something reveals itself, or is something screwy?

Thanks! Again, great modules. I'm really impressed. My only criticism is echoed by someone here, about leveling being very easy. I started with a 5th level solo rogue in chapter 1 and have leveled so rapidly, and obtained rather good equipment, so that I'm pretty indestructable. The biggest challenge is, as ever, keeping the henchman from dying. But that's a general NWN issue....

Fun module, especially for warriors who revel in melee combat. However, the over-abundance of XP quickly eliminates much of the challenge.

Posted by Larathiel at 2004-06-12 00:19:00    Voted 8.00 on 06/12/04
Fun module but the XP situation was a bit much. In addition to the large amounts of XP ladled out for each monster kill (25% vs 10%), the quest bonuses were really over-the-top. I mean, it kind of cheapens the reward of earning XP and advancing a character, when XP is given so freely that you can earn 500 just for furthering a conversation, then gain back-to-back 3-5000 XP rewards all for the same quest. This happened several times and it really slows things down when people have to stop every 10 minutes to level up. Call me crazy, but I kinda *like* a more believeable progression.

Anyway, the module was a lot of fun and I appreciated the use of the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot in one of the quests. Time permitting, I'll run part 3 later this weekend.

However, is there a way to adjust the XP rewards downward without modifying the module itself (i.e. via the commandline)? Given how easy chapter 1 was (by the time we reached the end) we all agreed to down-level below the suggested starting point for chapter 2 to keep things challenging. To our chagrin, the 1st encounter kind of messed that plan up. Not that a relay-race between two duos to see who can crush their half of an army the fastest isn't thrilling for a melee-centric party but... ;)
