"Your path is twisted, child. Your future is not clear. There are many possibilities yet.

I see a dark path... It's a foreign land you walk in, knowing no happiness, just sorrow and fear... and blood. I see your hands, your arms, your face, stained with the blood of your enemies...

Side by side you walk with the dark one. You lead him, but he holds the chain around your neck...

There is more. I see icy cold. Stars shining from a moonlit sky. Mists of air gathering around you as you stumble through the snow...

You killed the king! But you need him to return home...

Together you stand on the island, but there's only death around you... You walk the land of the dead, not knowing whether you are a part of it yet...

I see a temple. It's evil. It draws you near. It swallows you...

There's blood on your hands. You've killed your comrades so you may live!

You lie with the black knight. He makes you scream out in ecstasy! Your bodies are entangled, your skin is covered with sweat...

In the end, you are betrayed."

Part two of “A Dance with Rogues”.
The story picks up at the point where the main character leaves Betancuria and sets sail for the village of Westwood. There is no introduction this time as this is not a whole new module but rather the second part of the story that has been started in part one. Hence it should only be played with a character you finished the first part with.

This is for Adults only! Contains graphical and verbal nudity, explicit content and forms of violence.

IMPORTANT! You need my hak pack "ACAG" so all the armor and clothes look as intended. Otherwise, everything will look REALLY messed up. I couldn't put the link here as by the time I was writing this, the hak pack had not yet been approved by the site admin.

A few other hints:
- Do not break conversations using the "ESC"-key. I have no idea what will happen if you do - you may get stuck, see funny results, or your computer may just commit suicide.
- Do not attack friendly creatures. If you wish to start a fight, do so choosing the appropriate options in the conversation trees.
- You get XP for picking locks, disarming traps and pick pocketing stuff. You also get XP for a successful skill check (persuade, bluff, intimidate etc.), so it's a good idea to spend a few points there.
- Most XP is granted for progressing in the story line.
- There's little (really little!) XP for killing things. There's "bonus" XP for killing things if the story requires it - you may however get the same amount of XP - or more! - by being sneaky and finding a way other than using violence...
- Upgrade your equipment! Spend your money! A couple of times it "may" seem like you lose your gear but there's always a chance to get everything back.
- The same applies to your henchmen (there are around ten you could pick up). Care for them, feed them, equip them well, and they'll be a big help, and more…?! ;-)
- A lot of "riddles" can be solved in different ways. If a door is too hard to unlock or you just cannot find that one stupid key, try looking for a different way.

A big thanks to everyone who helped me with testing, feedback, encouragement, ...!
Especially to my two "lead" testers Hagaar and Thirdpres for constantly "bugging" me with ideas :-)

Also, a big thanks to Jhmssa for those "special" scripts that are used at the Cult Site, and to Magnus Tamelander for his wonderful "cover picture"! :-)

The modules (parts one and two) now contain over 250.000 words of written dialogue (though most of it is cyber sex :P). It is a fantasy world of the mine, the result of many many many many (did I say many?) hours of (day-)dreaming.

I refuse to feel responsible for any mental damage playing this may cause :P I however do hope that you have fun playing it. If you don't, simply stop. If you do, that's all the reward I ever wanted...

Played the module but never got around to cast a vote. So correcting that mistake. A vote and a big thank you Valine for creating both episodes. Enjoyed the story and all of its aspects very much. I dearly hope we get to see updated version of part 2 somewhere in the future.

Export your character, quit to the main menu, load up part two, and select the character you just exported.

The stone of export is intended for use after part two is updated to match part one. At this point, it's not looking like that will ever happen, sadly.

I suppose if you rename the mod file for part two to be "A Dance with Rogues Part 2 V1.50.mod" it might work. But it wouldn't really do anything beyond exporting your character and loading the second mod.

Posted by DNDWizard at 2012-10-09 12:03:19
this more has to do with part one but, at the end of part one when I use the stone of export and I hit yes, the screen goes black and nothing happens, what do I do?

Great game but does not feel as complete as the first module. Unfortunately it looks as if the necessary finishing touches to tidy up some parts will now not forthcoming. Many thanks to Valine however for her hard work in creating both episodes.

No problem. I just sometimes forget that the voting overall on everything here is inflated. It is either a 10 if you love it or a 1 if you don't. An 8 is still a good vote. I have never done the Bran romance but I have looked at parts of it. I seem to always romance Pia. She is just too well written. Many different things can happen depending on your actions. The fact that so many people here still argue and discuss the 2 modules speaks for the quality.

Posted by Twisted Celt at 2012-09-15 16:18:03    Voted 8.00 on 09/03/12

I scored the first Mod higher as it was a more enjoyable and replayable Mod, probably due to the updates which the second Mod hasn't had.I also fond myself invariably taking the evil path in the Second Mod where I have explored both good and evil paths in the first Mod without feeling I missed anything by doing so. The Bran Romance option in part 2 was weak compared to the Romance/Relationship RP options in part 1. That though is just my opinion. I would hardly describe an 8 for this Mod as low though. It is just simply inferior to first Mod which I gave a 9 to.

Ta for the suggestions. I have also discovered ADKs Kunoichi Mods series which despite being buggy was right up my street. Darker than ADWR in my view if you take an evil route.

I know it's kinda hard to hope for these days but Is there any chance we might see updates from Valine or additional contents from others?

@ Lamb... IMHO it just makes plane sense to flag (or at least some where describe) a module as Adult or Mature or extreme violence etc., if not for those who do not desire to play such modules, then at least for the concerned parent. ADWR would not have been a module I would have wanted my children to be playing when they were younger. *bleep*, non-consensual sex, bestiality, extreme graphical violence are not concepts IMO that young minds need to deal with. They'll get enough of it in time. As a parent, I always took the time to read just about everything my kids were reading and played just about every game my children played but as a teach, I know that not every parent does the same thing. Flagging is just courteous and eliminates a possible unwanted surprise for some. Now, on the other hand, to download a module which is flagged as violent or Adult/Mature, and then come online and complain that it has violent, adult/mature content is simply ridiculous... they were warned.

on a rating scale of 1 to 10 an anything above a 7 is well above average. When I first rated part one and part two, I gave them both an 8 because I thought they were good, darn good in fact, but that there was room for improvement. Valine, at least in the past, has provided updates and impovements to the module. I still would not give this one a 10... it still needs some work especially in relation to updated first module.

It's the prudes who make the authors flag their modules as adult. I recently played a good one which mentioned "sexual themes" in the warning, and I can't recall anything of the sort in the module.

(Commenting to vote, which I, too, thought that I already did...)

@ralebeau & Twisted Celt

I played Arandie, well.. I should say, I started it. never got to finish it however. don't recall any bugs, but then I didn't exactly get very far before my laptop's charger port got fried. but anyway, my initial impression was, it did at least seem interesting. might as well redownload it...makes me glad I at least have my mac to play on.

I do agree, though, there are very few adult modules. and the of the ones there actually are, most tends to be more comical in approach, and/or are entirely unrealistic. there are also a few that say "adult" but contain very little to no adult content at all. thankfully, this series isn't like that, and has a much more serious tone to it. I still say Valine should have left the pregnancy possibility in part 1. would have forced you to buy that tea that now has no use :P wonder why if it was taken out anyway...maybe it wasn't and she just couldn't find the right way to implement it.. *shrugs* hmm...might turn more into a "Sims" style game instead...would be distracting I suppose.

From reading the interview with Valine... which I did a long time ago... I gathered that the point of her work was not to make a story (from which the adult content could have been excluded, to make it better for certain people). She was making a module for herself, with the kind of content that the OC and expansions lacked: other characters finding a female protagonist desirable and acting accordingly. At least I think so, and that is something I can identify with. But everyone has their own way of voting, and the average rating sorts itself out.

Posted by Dwayne at 2012-09-04 17:19:37    Voted 10.00
You vote an 8 and want an update? I can see why Valine doesn't care anymore. Why should she with all the low votes from people who say they like the module.

Posted by ralebeau at 2012-09-04 07:57:39    Voted 10.00
@Twisted Celt
Many of the other adult mods don't get close to the ADWR standards, but since you have already tried FallynRayne's Gladiatrix there is still Arandie. Pretty old but still works ok with most of the patches since release, complex tale and cities with hidden easter egg quests around.

Posted by Twisted Celt at 2012-09-03 16:43:09    Voted 8.00 on 09/03/12
I hope this gets updated. I wish that there were more adult orientated Mods, the prudes have more than enough to keep them drooling over thier bibles etc!

Posted by shuurai at 2012-09-02 08:36:25    Voted 9.75

Sure, the story (both part one and this one) could have been told to one degree or another without the sexual content. It could also have been told without the violent content; the whole thing could have been about the princess using diplomacy to try and deal with the Dhorn; pages and pages of dialog trying to win favor and make deals with various lords and ladies to attempt to drive them out of her city diplomatically. Wouldn't that have been fun?

Wouldn't it be silly for someone who was utterly opposed to violence to come here and downgrade all of the modules in the Vault - "Gee, great story but all that swordfighting and killing..."

Well, it's just as silly to complain about an adult-themed module having adult content. Sure, the story could have been told without adult content - but that isn't the story the author wanted to tell.

This is so true WaterRabbit. Sometimes I play innocent character and sometimes very kinky and that's the biggest advantage of this mod. You can choose what you wanna do, and how you wanna do it. Even when you're forced to have sex with Pia (to complete a game I mean), you can just get drunk and you will wake up in the morning don't remember anything.
Btw I didn't play for like 3 months and I just decided I will start from the beginning... maybe when I finish there will be some news *crossing fingers* :)

"The point I'm trying to make is that the story could have been complete WITHOUT the offensive content."

Another stupid point. The could release Maxim without barely clad women as well and it would just be the same. :eyeroll:

There is zero offensive content in either of these modules. It is only you that is choosing to be offended.

Posted by Mordakar at 2012-08-25 22:04:02
"Not active" is what I would call the extremely optimistic description. Almost two years down the road, I'm honestly thinking this thing has slipped into abandonware.

Posted by Muric at 2012-08-25 11:52:39    Voted 10.00
well, as a Valine fan I can honestly say, I don't really visit the ADWR fan groups/pages(there are a few) much these days. the modules were last updated last year though. the current part two was only updated to use the new hak file(no real changes made to it from the previous version) which will be used in the actual update for part two, which Valine is working on(as far as we know), as well as the current part 1. Since these are her only two submitted modules, naturally, we check in here fairly frequently. She's got quite a bit on her plate in RL, from what we understand, so she's naturally not as active as she might otherwise be.

the good news on that note Steve, is you can use the search function and play only those types of mods, specifically with those filters enabled... glad you did enjoy the game though despite not meeting all your criteria. I happen to share your dislike for item/level stripping, but in the case of this particular series the item strips occur in places and for reasons that make sense. At the very least it makes it tolerable. Sure it could have been a complete story without the adult content, but the situations present in the series might not have made quite as much sense. as usual however, almost all of it is totally avoidable. I'm pretty sure the only part not avoidable was the cult temple just before going to the isle of prisoners(forced nudity is all, you can choose to merely kill the demon dogs). as for the swearing and what have you...just kill vico, that'll cut out about 99% of it. hmm..I sense that vico lovers are now glaring at me quite icily. . .well there you have it.

The point I'm trying to make is that the story could have been complete WITHOUT the offensive content.
If this content pleases most people, treasure most of the votes here.
In order to get a perfect 10 from me, you have to meet my expectations:

No item or level strips
Teen rating (no explicits)
Good story

are just a few.

Describing it in advance in the description doesn't protect you (from my vote). It doesn't change the fact it doesn't match my criteria.

It's quite simple... if you don't meet my criteria... do NOT expect a 10 from me. Simple as that.

HA! for many years I wondered why bed manufacturer has to put a usage instructions on their products even it seems so bloody obvious. It seems that no matter how explicit the warning, there are still cretins with too little intelligence to understand.
