The world of Soyl is one of fairies, elves, dwarves, and dragons. However, like any fairy tale, the true focus of interest is on Men and their deeds. It would therefore be best to describe the world of Soyl in human terms first.

For several centuries now, the dominant power in the world has been the Cildfant Empire. Based out of Kinmonia, its dominion stretches across the seas of the world to lands far and wide, not to mention exotic. However, even as it struggles abroad for territory, it struggles within with its closest neighbors.

The Eldyll are a proud people that inhabit the western frontier lands of Kinmonia. The Eldyll once lived all across Kinmonia, but through years of war have been pushed nearly to the sea. Many of the Kinmons are arrogant and view the Eldyll as savages. Spurred on by the Halig Sedes and its teachings, not to mention political manuverings, the Cildfant Empire has declared a divine mandate to conquer the Eldyll lands and "convert" its "savage" inhabitants.

Not all of the Kinmons agree with the Imperial policy, however. Some have seen the horror of war, and its toll on the innocent, and have become Reformists as a result. That's not to say that the Reformist movement entirely centers around the war. In fact, many Reformists are neutral or favorable to the Imperial policy, disagreeing with its impetus perhaps, but not its practical benefits.

The Reformist movement is largely due to the Halig Sedes' dealings with its own "flock". The doctrine of "limbo", the ban on laity holding copies of the Libben, and other issues are highly contentious to Reformists, moving them to break away from the Kurio. Some Reformists even go so far as to say that the Ward is actually the Conmeshek of prophecy.

It is amidst this atmosphere of political/national strife and religious turmoil that our story takes place, right in the heart of Kinmonia on its western border with the Eldyll lands...

This 7-Zip archive contains "Jason's PnP - CEP24.mod" as well as a set of optional files for the "override" folder. These files modify polymorph appearances and familiars for the setting. They are highly recommended but not completely necessary. Remember, for this module to load you need CEP 2.4, CTP 1.5, and cmp.hak (actual BMU music files are optional, but again highly recommended).

There are, indeed, Korrgarr. Sarah Fetten and Sonya are both henchman available at the Great Fork in the Merry Mule Inn. Just head east and then south through the Nertohrt Forest across the chasm bridge along the South Road.

The first module I ever played multiplayer. I've been loyal ever since! :3

I tried playing in SP mode but ran into some *really* odd things.

But first, about my previous post about Restricted things. I found that info in game and should have aslo been clarified here. but no matter!

Once I got IN to the game itself I took a look at the map and after reading the info available to me and the fact that there was a dragon involved, headed to the only place I figured the thing to be in and my guess turned out correct. Took me a bit but after some time, I actually managed to off the critter.

Anyways after I got paid, I went looking around and found that a LOT of the areas were NOT populating with anything or one. I wound up simply wandering around and NOT getting anywhere due to lack of guidance. Whilst I like the way this was built and really liked the tilesets used, that was the only thing I liked. The guy waiting for his daughter wouldn't tell me which way I needed to head in, and his conversations ended *abruptly* as did several other conversations with other people.

It stuck me that this is *definitely* a DM run game since there was little after the dragon for me to do.

One other thing have a look at the timing in the scripts for the locked doors in the Forest lodge. I can pick 'em and open them but I need to have lightspeed to get past them. I wound up bashing one just to gain entry.

So I must decline voting for this since this really ought to be a Multiplayer with DM guidance game. Good luck though! It has promise!!

Having read the "Races" info, WHAT races, aside from human ARE playable? Or is it restricted to human? I'm asking since that as well as the Classes info leads me to think one thing whereas you may be leaning towards something esle. Clarification would be a bonus here.

Nevertheless I'm downloading it since it seems to be an interesting romp! I'll be back when I'm done to vote, but I'll pop by to see if my queries have been answered! 8)

The module is rated "mature" for a number of reasons. For one, there's a off-handed reference to fellatio in the initial journal entry (default recommended storyline). For another, the quest in Whircus nearly necessitates killing small children (who have been turned into goblins). There's also a few areas throughout the module with fairly gorey corpses.

*shrugs* Overall, it's probably not too objectionable for most players, but I thought I'd err on the side of caution. You can't tell me I didn't warn ya :-)

I can't see how the "Classic PnP Conversion" category could possibly refer to modules based on published material. Would that not tend to encourage copyright infringement? As has been pointed out to me a number of times, NWVault is apparently very cognizant of copyright issues. It would therefore seem implausible that they would create a whole category to encourage the possible violation of Atari's own EULA for NWN and federal copyright law.

"Classic" to my mind has nothing to do with whether or not a work has been published on a wide scale and everything to do with caliber of class. I personally found Jason's PnP (which was not *my* creation, mind you, although I did obtain permission from the original author) to be very classic. The original was created over 10 years ago, and it brings back fond memories to this day. Additionally, the module's setting is akin to that of *classical* western european folklore (i.e fairy tales). All things considered, therefore, I think the current category is quite appropriate.

It might be a conversion of *your* PnP game but that does not make it a *classic* conversion, as that category only refers to published material. It belongs in one of the other, more suitable, categories. Sorry to nitpick, I've seen other people do it so you're not alone. I'm sure it's a very good module and I'll be downloading it for sure but it won't be going into my Classic PnP folder...

FR stands for "Forgotten Realms". The world of Soyl does not exist within that setting. Accordingly there's a few emergent peculiarities specific to the custom setting.

The overall paradigm of the setting is somewhat akin to that of classical western european folklore (e.g fairy tales). However, the setting is still being thought up and solidified. In that regard, if you'd like to participate in the creative process, feel free to join this module's associated guild and contribute to the "Setting" forum.

Uh, since I'm a high-level druid, I downloaded this and something in the class restrictions suddenly caught my eye: "Shifter- Specific to FR". What's FR?

The module is highly under construction. Currently, the only scripted quests and what not are for a human with the first backstory. Everything else is primarily for multiplayer on-the-fly DM based RP.

In other words, for the purposes of SP I'd recommend making a human character, telling the Narrator "I've been commissioned the slay the dragon" and then asking the local townsfolk for directions. From there you'll be led along a little story with Matilda until you're around level 4 with a number of items useful for dragon slaying. Once you slay the dragon, you'll be ready to head on into Whircus. I don't want to spoil the plot there, but suffice it to say there's plenty of action.

I've been working on this module off and on for a few months now. I definitely have more encounters, side quests, and what not planned. It just takes a lot of the little time I have and it's hard to find good builders with which to collaborate.

Long story short: You can definitely consider this module in Alpha right now.

Posted by Lomondra at 2006-03-05 11:13:11
Can't vote. I assume this is for building a module? Nothing populates in east and west jade forest, no quests in tavern, no other building on town screen opens, the west forest mouth cave has noting in it, and on and on and on with nothing.
Does this armor make my butt look big?

Apparently you are, ironysteeth. You should see a single file with extension MOD. You place that file into your "modules" directory. I'm not sure about the specifics of "win rar" as I don't primarly use Win. Maybe you should try opening the file with another RAR utility.

I downloaded the file just to double check it myself, and it extracts perfectly.

Uh, am I missing something? I download the file marked as the mod and when I open it in win rar, all that comes up is a subfolder with nothing in it.
