Spent 2 hours trying to find any of the colored stones. No joy, did get the mable for hercules but with so many bloody unspecified magical stones and they are far from easy or obvious I just cannot enjoy the mod as it was intended. Given up , sorry, but keys in weird places miles away from the lock bug me intensely.

Started this with a fresh (fighter) character as advised was having fun so far. Was doing the part related to the Chef but had some trouble there as some other players mentioned. The Cat part is terrible it just does not work as specified. There is no sneak, all you can do is use haste potions if you have some and run (randomly because you don't even get a map of the island). You can't even do it step by step because once you reload the cats position is somehow reset. Had to drink 4-5 haste potions, grabbed the key and died (there is no penalty for dying we may as well use it). Also attacked a little girl by mistake before figuring out what Wonderland was all about. Anyway got my three keys (now level 2) and was trying to find the kitchen. Note that the Librarians still think that I do not have the keys and the journal was not updated. Went to speak to a bear but after that the only way is forward in the pit. Was not really welcome there and the rats are still tough for a fighter level 2. Decided to run but later on a NPC called Jeff turned hostile on me (did not like seeing me killing rats i suppose). I am not a fan of reload/respawn unless my character is insane and chaotic I try to keep him alive and try to finish a module w/o dying once. From what I have seen so far, despite the funny dialogues and the original background story I'm afraid this module may not be as enjoyable as I first assumed.

I got impatient with the cats so I just put on my boots of speed and just kept running through it to the end. I think I only got 1 attack of opportunity hit (otherwise i would've died), and yes. They are that hard to kill. I used shadow daze on the first one, and kept getting sneak attack after sneak attack. When it came out of the daze, it wasn't even 'Injured' yet.
Opening it with the toolset, one Island Cat has a CR of 161. 99 for every ability score, and 3760 hit points. AC says 285, but if I was able to even hit it, that's probably not right. I wonder how much experience someone would get if they killed one...

I just wanted to say thank you for an EXCELENT and very fun module. It was very hard in places, but I really liked that. I loved the fact it was all so quest and riddle based, but with enough combat that it kept me busy.
I started last year sometime, and I have been playing through for a long time as I had time.
You kept me laughing, and you held my interest – which is something that I rarely experiance with a longer playermade mod.

Anyway, thanks again – I will defiantly be looking up more of your work.

P.S. *laughs* You can figure out the cats folks, just takes some time! ;)

Here it goes. I' ve been through the entire mod, got to the part where I get the extra HP and went to the island closest to hell. I used invisibility to get past most of the enemies and reach Sin. I' ve managed to get him to badly wounded (with elemental shield spell) but he uses heal. HOW ON EARTH DO I KILL HIM???? plz

I wanted to add, that it is in fact possible, as I ran it dozens upon dozens of time, but I guess it may be a little unfair seeing as I designed them and know their exact patterns and all, but if you get the timining right you can sneak by unscathed, even so, I'll go through and make sure they are all near sighted and see about maybe even removing 1 or 2 of them.

Posted by Matt56 ( 66.90.xxx.xxx ) at 2004-05-02 23:20:00
Well, on a day off I will reinstall and fix the scenario just for you and try and get it posted. Also, if I remember correct the cats are broken up into groups mostly and before most groups there is a little hill that you can stand on and try and watch the patterns of the cats. I think in theory what I wanted to do here is a lot cooler than what actually came out. I wanted it to be a sort of stealth mission where you had to time the patterns of the "guards" and sneak by to get the treasure. But I think it just ended up being to hard and excucted poorly, primarly due to my complete lack of programming skills.

Posted by mherlee at 2004-04-27 11:07:00
I respect what you were trying to do! I just wish they were neasighted like was said...they see me as I turn the corner even before I am in their clearing...that isn't nearsighted lol. I did use a speed potion and outran a few before I ran into a bouble team and got clobbered with one paw lol.And I started with a 1st level character since that was what the mod says to do. I will try again, but I am not even sure where to stand to try and time them since they see me immediately.

Posted by Matt56 ( 66.90.xxx.xxx ) at 2004-04-26 23:04:00
Sorry you are having trouble with the cats, I don't have nwn installed atm, but maybe I will reinstall it and work on that scenario. Those cats aren't really designed to be killed, even with a 20th level character you would have a hard time, I suppose I could take away their true seeing. My lack of programming skills made it impossible for me to really do what I wanted here, I wanted it to be kinda like a stealth mission and if you got caught you were sent back to the start of the island.

Posted by mherlee at 2004-04-24 00:34:00
Ok, I figured with all the comments I would definately try the sneaky approach to those darn cats. Puhlllllease! I am at the farthest away point and trying to watch the first cat to "Time" his movements and he sees me and kills me. There is no short sightedness there!! I should be able to run behind him...no luck he turns around. I wanted to follow the guidelines and use a first level character, but this point is silly. I am not a newbie mod player at all and have played at least 100 and playtested many...I sincerely feel that you could tone down that one issue...take away the true seeing, make them actually near sighted...SOMETHING. Any further away and I couldn't see them! Please think about it. If you do change this, please email me and let me know because I was enjoying your mod and am disappointed that I can't finish. BTW, I have tried this part 25 times...that is just too much.

The dialogues were funny and quite entertaining. It deserves a higher score, however, the typos and bad grammar ruined it for me. Also it was annoying to look at the map and realize I forgot which wall to "walk through" to get where I'm going.

I try to sneak around them but with their "True Vision", it is absolutely impossible...

Tatty -
There are portals to the four different realms in the main intersection, you will find a room with 4 different colored doors, those are the portals. The order is growth, fire, earth, sky.

RandomX
The reason you are having trouble on the cat level is because you are going about it wrong, the trick is to use stealth. You must watch the cats movements and sneak around them, fighting them is impossible, If you watch each cat has a set patrol and if you time it out right you can sneak past all of them and get to the key. Fighting, or just trying to outright run won't work here. And yeah, this is one of the toughest parts of the mod.

Yeah, the cat level was DISGUSTINGLY impossible. After a break from about when I made that post until now, I just stopped playing. I reccomend (I never planned to do this...) hitting your ~ key and typing dm_god for the invincible mode. JUST for this. I would never endorse cheating unless it was worth it and neccesary to continue, which I believe it is.

(For the record, I took a fully decked out lvl 20 and STILL got my butt kicked when I tried the cats)

Ok, great Mod, am loving it so far, but I'm having a serious dumb blonde moment and can't figure out 2 things;

1. which order to go to the Gods to kill them.
2. how to get into the different worlds where the gods are. I dont mean to sound like an annoying whiner, but please, please, please, please help!

I try this mod with a 2nd level Gnomish Rogue/Fighter
and abandon because of the Island Cats in the Treasure Island.
No fun there, no trick, just run, run... and die.
After too many attempts, I quit and say "doesn't worth the time"

A few good ideas, but the negative aspects (poor level design, spelling errors, unbalanced battles, etc) FAR outweigh the good.
