Welcome to the kingdom of Thoden, a kingdom that is finally recovering from the cataclysmic Lich wars. Because of these wars a group called the knights of the balance was formed. The knights of the balance watch for gross abuses of arcane magic and deal with them. After many trials and tribulations you have become part of the knights of the balance. Now they have called you to the local Outpost to speak with superior Henry Hemlock.
If everything is done in the whole module it can take up to 16 hours.

Knights of the Balance
Neutral to good recommended
This module is part of my custom campaign world and contains 36 areas and dozens of side quests as well as a cool main quest. Make sure you search everything because there is allot of hidden stuff. It is useful to be a rogue in this mod or have one with you because there is allot of locks and traps. This mod is really a one-player mod. But if you play a party of characters I suggest even lower levels than I recommended so you keep it challenging.
Two Points- Always keep a Knight of the balance amulet in your inventory and do not tell Gregor the Hireling to level up, (because he disappears from the game forever).
Although created in 2005 this module look and feels like those early NWN modules. Perhaps the SoU, HotU and CEP items can be seen once you get to explore a bit more. Sorry I did not try. Got tired of reloading. I do not like PWs and this was like a low tech not so inspired PW. I had high expectations here trying to play a CoT character being part of a knight order felt right but the whole thing was not very immersive after meeting two NPC (one look like a Mage btw) and getting that amulet (that had to be identified) I was in that village where a lot is going on with the pirates, bugbears and crazy chicken attacking all at the same time. The combats were too tough for my level 9 character because they are just too many monsters around and I did not have uber equipment. Did not really want to fight anything but met the pirates while looking for the inn and did run in the chicken and bugbears while trying to run from the pirates. A proper map could have help locating the inn, the mayor and/or the gypsie. In short, too much hack-n-slash, basic look-n-feel and lack of story/immersion.
If one like to a PW type module I would recommend All Things are Light or The Hidden Tradition by Rodney Orpheus.

I'm sorry I didn't have all the bells and whistles but I is the first mod I ever created. If you go through all the the minor quests there is allot more than meets the eye. As for a inventory management I'm not sure what you mean? I had allot of trouble getting hirelings to work right thats why gregor is so limited. If you know of some scripting tools that could help me please post them.

Story, somehow, was not engaging. I was transported to the village were farmers are standing still, zombified. Interaction with NPCs is... well I'm not native English speaker, but try to improve yor syntax. Put some commas in dialogues. Everything looked too generic. Combat is heavy, and it is good, becouse you are not attacked by a horde of opponents adn they are not respawning. But, pirate queen quest - I still can't figure why they were stealing food - was too hard for 6th or 7th level characters. She looked more like some mad wizard bent on world domination then a person who would rob backwater village. Hanchman - you had good idea. However, you probably should allow inventory mengement. At the end I had something like 200000 GP I would like to be able to by some improvements for Gregor or to give him some amulet of natural armour. And thn there is loot. Now, I don't mind finding good lott in dragon's cave. But, try to put it in some logical places. What I mean is that I have found best and most expensive armour on a dead bugbear hero. Also goes for amulet of natural armour +6.
The answer you seek is quite simply explained by looking at the download size (above)
John was nice enough to upload the .mod for you... but, as you can see, it takes a lot more time to upload or download. WinRar is, quite frankly, one of the BEST file compression utilities available and can be used for free.
You will find many files packed this way, here and at other sites. I is considered wise to have it, or a similar utility that can open WinRar compressed files.
Hope that helps! :)

Yea hi i ran your mod just for fun as i do with many that i find on here. I was a bit disappointed in the fact that it only took me about 2 and 1/2 hours to run the whole thing. I also found alot of building errors as far as continuity, conversations and the lack of creativly constructed encounters. I will admit i did run thru with a 40th level monk with some specialized equipment as i useually do. I will admit the concept is good and there definatly is no lack of action. Tho i think many of the things in the mod that arent taged as plot should be its a fair start and i will be looking forward to seeing your next chapter to see any improvements
I listed the level between six and ten just above. There is a shop in the mod for supplies.

It would be good to let people know if they need to level up they charaters. With other mod before starting yours. And also do they need to get them self supplys considering level of charater what theyt might find earlier. Well lets try ur mod then
Iím really happy you like it. I tried to make it like a mini world with lots of side quests and I didnít want it to be a game that you just walk through and killed everything. I do know that some people see books and donít bother to look at them half the time. This is because they always seem to be the same books from the original game. I created a few new ones in this mod, some are flavor for the setting some are more important. Its not over until you talk to your boss Henry Hemlock again.
I started to make the second part but then I realized that there isnít a good elemental plane of water tile set out there. If someone knows where there is one please let me know otherwise Iíll have to create one myself and that would delay the module that much longer.

Based upon the comments between ours, I'd keep *everything* you find. I'd suggest going to the B&B and grabbing a room and stashing everything of importance as well.
I've begun again and have found some stuff so I really (!!) hope that the author does continue this to the end! I'm enjoying it a lot!!
The WinRAR program is available at their site, and a freebie! The files will open even if you use Winzip or something else. The compression rate is far superior to anything that I have used for archiving (ie: a 30 MB file rar'd using "Best" setting compresses to a tad over 2.5 MB) So just open your download and park everything where it needs to go as far as mods, etc go. _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant.
Yes, I checked all areas, including the B&B in the farmlands. :) If getting to the top of Wizardo's tower and getting the key is the end of the module, then there should be some indication of that.
Minor Spoilers ----
The book I read said that the opposite elemental key is needed to open the portal. I took that to mean that to open the fire portal and use it, I needed the water key, etc. So, I fully expected to at least go through the elemental lands.
There were several quests that didn't update to the completed side, as well... Therdus's Ring, Smuggler's Cave... and I can't remember them off the top of my head. I may play through again with another character.
I hope you do continue the series, though. The story is good, and it would be nice to finish it up. :)
Rar. is just the compression file that I used.
As far as the key It can't be used until the next installment. You will know when the mod is done when you return to talk to Henry Hemlock at the end.
A few hints-
-Make sure you read any book that is unique to the mod. (you may need to keep certain books on your character.)
-There is a bunch of side quests and dungeons. They can give you the power you need later. (As well as quest xp.

I pondered that problem for a bit before it hit me...
The portal cannot be used by the player since THAT'S where Wizardo went. At the time, my guess was that if this is going to be released as a series, then more will come of that. Btw, did you check ALL areas? There's more about him elsewhere, also, don't lose that key!!!! There might be more coming. It might also be an idea to check the PW that this is from, since it seems that it would be a great game. _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant.
The water elemental in the tower dropped the water key, despite what it says in the wizard's book about elemental travel, I can't open any other door, but the one to the water portal. And when I click on the portal, it doesn't do anything. Did I miss something? I've done everything else and been everywhere else, I'm pretty sure. :)

Pardon *my* spelling 8) I wasn't watching what I was doing. Anyway I just thought of something that I foprgot to mention.
Check the treasure with the dragon. After looting, it should vanish, it didn't. Also the Gypsy quest. i couldn't find the entrance she spoke of but I did find the recipe (her comment in the journal should be redone as it didn't make a whole lotta sense (was SHE speaking or was I??).
I've changed my vote to 9.25 to reflect the following:
1. As per my orig. comments
2. The comments herein
3. finished the mod competely _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant.

You're quite welcome John!
I just finished the rest and I found it rather enjoyable. Definitely a "keeper"!! I do encourage you to cosider what I asked about the mods as I don't rally have the time to play PWs or multis much. I tend to spend my time playing mods and playtesting for a few of the builders.
Again, thanks for a great romp and I hope that your buddy will come home safe and sound!!

Thanks for the vote, this is my first mod that I created it so my buddy could keep running his tabletop character while he is over in Iraq.
Thanks for the feedback and Iím sorry about the chests names I just used the generic random treasure chests for some areas. Iím sure if I create more modules I wonít make as many little mistakes like that.

See my comments with my vote. I do have another thing that should be addressed though...
...Try naming something with a bit more imagination John, calling a chest a "Area Medium Treasure Chest" really doesn't do your work any good. A chest is, afterall, simply a chest.
If this is a sample of your world, you really should take it and release it as a series for us! _________________________ We are all born ignorant, but one must work to remain ignorant.
