Your alignment can change easily, depending on your actions. There are also completely different plot courses for good/neutral and evil players.
Description
Sapphire Star is a Forgotten Realms module, based on a PnP campaign, the Guardian. The module is developed for a full single-player experience of the Western Heartlands, including character development, non-linearity, good/evil plot courses, lycanthropy for players (werewolf and wererat), large quests and areas to explore, multiple endings, exciting conflicts, new spells, original song and an optional intro movie. See the Readme file to your right for more details.

Didn't ask Xarsus whoops. So finished a s a 10th lvl cleric and most certainly needed the Drow with me. Toughest mod I've played and so it was very challenging and njoyable.

First of all this a pretty good mod with a lot of little side quests etc.
BUT very very difficult when it came to combat.
ALSO I have no idea what to do now. Have completed all of my quests the journal is blank. Killed the dragon but nobody (apart from journal), vanya especially recognises it.
Had to check through mini walkthrough for other bits and bobs. Hw would you know what to offer to Tempus' altar
The dwarves, did the forge guys quest but the king wouldn't speak to me. Once I had completed that quest the doors to the king itself was locked.
Going to be married but then what is the end, how do you finish?

Played this mod a while ago but didn't vote on it. Decided I should as I keep coming back to it. This is one of the most replayable mods I know.
Pros:
-very replayable due to non-linear structure, alternate endings, class-specific quests and need to experiment with lots of different tactics in combat.
-very interesting and challenging combat.
-lots of places to explore and things to do.
Cons:
-limited conversational options and some conversations poorly written.
-NPC characters not fleshed out very well.
-opening sequence was confusing and didn't seem to have much of anything to do with the rest of the mod.
Overall good action but story-telling aspects weak.

I know I'm 4 years late for the rating, but I remember enjoying the module a lot when it was released. I remember dying alot, but it made the module challenging! It's definitely in my top ten, and I look forward to more work by you!

Hello everyone! Just stopping by to say that a larger update is in the works. Should have updated it earlier, but better now than never :)

My only complaint was going to be that the mod is too short - but looking at the other posts and the description of the mod, I think I didnt explore enough!
more nice mods please! _________________________ If the human brain was so simple we could understand it, we'd be so simple we couldn't

It's quite an interesting module if you are an experienced player /tough battles, long quests/.
(Wizard/Sorcerer can use scrolls to cast higher level magics, and sometime it could be useful)

Pretty interesting, though there were quite a few problems as well. I felt a bit too vague and directionless for the most part of the mod. Because of the lack of at least some linearity, I felt i was often running into overpowering enemies that I probably wasn't supposed to be tackling at that stage. It was a tad annoying.
Also, the NPC's were a bit of a letdown.

There is not enough available for a low-level character to do, and so I spent a fair amount of time at the beginning wandering around trying to find something that wouldn't just blow me away. The cave above the mines, which might have been appropriate, seemed blocked by two thieves that were too hard to beat for a 1st-level character. Some better direction for the player on where to go would help. Would it be so bad if Xarsus didn't tell you to go against a dracolich, or into the 1st level of Hell, until you had more than a few levels under your belt? This issue mars what could have been a good module. There are good ideas for quests here.

Folks who gave this module a 10 for fun are on crack. This is just about as tedious as a module can be.
Michi, there's no connection between the beggar and Loma.
everlastingquestion, the similarities are intentional. Fallout 2 is one of my favorite games :)
taltamir, there are no other public modules from me available. I have a few great "beta" modules on my computer but I have no time to finish & release them. Sadly :(
She-Wolf, thanks for all the bug reports. The priest doesn't say anything about the issue since his action speaks for himself. A thief stole from temple's treasury and he punished her brutally - he's a war priest.
Thanks to everyone for their interest and for all positive (and negative) comments :)
frankie, I know the romance sucks. But it sucked when we played it pen&paper in 2002 so there you go. As true to the original as possible.
My definition of "heavy roleplaying"? Well, it would probably be Planescape: Torment. However, SS doesn't come near that CRPG gem.
steve, you can bash the temple door without martial proficiency. Just keep the hammer in your inventory and go for it with your fist - a strange solution but it works. I'll add the proficiency if I ever update the module again. Thanks steve for being such an adamant player.

Finally finished it. I guess patch 1.66 had to be final and not beta.
A small issue regarding the warhammer, but no need to downscore the mod. _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.

Hi Yaballa,
Just one error I am hoping you can fix either around Thanksgiving or Christmas vacation:
The warhammer used to smash down the temple door is a problem if you're using a wizard that has no martial weapon proficiency.
I went back and got the elf barbarian, but he can't smash it. I had to give myself an extra level just to take fighter for that proficiency.
I think the hammer needs to have magic added on to it of "Weapon Proficiency (martial)" so anyone can use this plot required item.
Thanks for all you've done,

Well-constructed world, nice event scripting, but the plotline is so stilted and the dialogue so forced that I couldn't bear to continue playing. Not at all my idea of "heavy roleplaying".

help! how do i get through the prelude? there's no exit the dark warriors are too tough and even if i run away dragons show up and kill me. i'm only first level
Posted by frankie at 2005-09-29 07:43:51 Voted 5.00 on 10/07/05
Just started SS, and holy crap some of the dialogue is atrocious. I just met the barmaid and 20 seconds later we're declaring love? Yaballa, have you ever dated someone? The module would be greatly improved if that "romance" didn't exist. It's just BAD.
Lots of other conversations also force you into very bizarre single choices. For example, the priestess in the bar got pissed at me because I don't respect arcane magic ... huh? Where did that come from? And my only option is to get pissy right back at her? What was the point of that?
I'm going to give SS a chance and play a bit longer. I really hope these early failings are just aberrations. Yaballa, what is your definition of "heavy roleplaying"?

Is the author going to fix this mod anymore? _________________________ Steve's Characters - please don't forget to vote on them if you play them.
Please make your profile public so we could access it from within a module's page (ie, this page). With the new nwnvault interface the "other modules by this author" link is now ONLY available within said author's profile (which is PRIVATE and can ONLY be access by himself by default!) _________________________ I do not have a superman complex; for I am God, not Superman!
Just started it, played a few hours...and I'm all 'wow'. I've never hoped to see so much of Fallout in a NWN mod. Even though I'm not sure it's intentional (and it seems that no one else has mentioned the similiarities), it just made my day. :D
So tell me, I'm curious - is it or is it not Fallout-inspired?
