Title  City Interior Windows
Author  gaoneng
Submitted / Updated  01-19-2006 / 05-02-2006
Category  Tilesets
Expansions  Works on all versions
City Interior Windows is an expansion to Bioware's City Interior tileset, adding 1 new crosser, 1 new terrain, and 19 new groups and features, increasing your choice of tiles in the City Interior tileset from 296 to 474.

[ Windows ]
For those of you unfamiliar with my Castle Interior Windows tileset add-on, the primary function of the Window crosser is to let you to perforate holes in walls and create realistic looking windows with actual sceneries that cycle between day and night naturally and automatically.

City Interior Windows features an improved scenery control system that allows you to swap the vistas from city to rural to rural winter to desert to sea - right within the tileset, and without anymore need for cumbersome placeables. The windows in this package are also more stylistic, and all terrains are supported, with each terrain having a unique window design. Currently, there are 6 different views and 7 different window types to choose from, including several Porthole features designed specifically for ship interiors.

Some of these windows are designed to fit back-to-back, so you can make interior windows, so to speak. These allow you to create, for tactical, plot, or simply aesthetic reasons, dividing walls that are non-trepassable, but still provide direct line of sight for vision, spells and range attacks.

[ Additional Content ]
[ Home ] Home is a very simple terrain derived from the 2x2 Home Interiors in the standard tileset. This terrain is linkable to other terrain types, and you can use it to create home spaces of any size and shape. Ideal for desert homes and other humble interiors.
[ Diagonal Walls and Corridors ] These are 45 degrees corner walls and corners that you can use to define triangular rooms and octagonal lobbies and winding passages and other irregularly shaped spaces. Simple device, but extremely cool in action.
[ Furniture-Free Tiles ] These are by-products of the tiles I needed to prepare to make the windows. These tiles are stripped of all furniture, so you can use these to create spacious uncluttered interiors for all terrains.

[ Notes ]
While this package should work on all versions, I think some new tiles were added to the City Interior tileset in the Shadows of Undrentide expansion. If you do not have that expansion, you might not have access to some of the standard features. I can't believe there exist anyone who doesn't own either expansion anyway, but point is, you really should have all expansions.

Additional information can be found in the readme in the download. Read. It.

If you find any error that has slipped pass me radar, do submit a bug report with details and I will fix everything before slapping the "final" label on this package. If there are other features you wish to see, do post your suggestions here too, but no guarantees. If you want to start building using this package now, you can safely do so - any future update will be compatible and free of conflicts with this release.

Fabulous work Gaoneng , the ingame feeling is totaly different with this amazing "outlooks".
One Question: is it possible to adapt the "cityview" from this hak to your famous castle-interior windows hak?

Yep that's the one.

It's in there in one of those tabs, where you can import tiles from other Bioware or custom tilesets (set files) to the one you're working on.

@ mermut

Merging tilesets is a simple process with Jlen's Set Editor. Use the build-in merge function in that tool. Almost a one click process. :)

Absolutely wonderful work... but I still hate you :P
I've got another addon hak for the city interiors so I have to integrate them and I just -love- hak work.

Seriously though, keep up the great work, your windows haks are truely amazing

I don't think I would care about having windows unless they were implemented like this. Great idea, and they work so well. Not only does it help to add that extra detail to spice up your walls, but the corner pieces for dividing rooms leaves so much for plot related issues and more creative interactions. Thank you for this.

I wanted to come back and make sure I had voted for all your outstanding creations that I am using in my module. Only a tiny effort on my part to show you my genuine appreciation of your work. Thank you, Gaoneng!

There are indeed very fine haks on the vault, but this one (together with your Castle windows) is a really excellent one!
Original, expertly build, high quality stuff, well, you know it best yourself ;)
And beautifully presented too (and that's actually persuaded me to vote :) )

Any chance to see your bull's-eye windows in a ship interior hak? (btw: original wall texture underneath those doesn't look too good)
Or... high gothic castle or maybe temple windows (if, we're at requests - pretty please! :)) to match those on the outside walls...?

So let me understand this, the scene behind the window is taken from another tileset? Or is it a mock setup static, picture-like. So there is not real-time view into another tileset is there? Regardless, this is prolly one of the best tileset additions since alleyways and rolling hills.

Very, very nice! I am so glad you extended this to the City Interior set as well. You are making quite a name for yourself on the Vault! I don't have any spot for your work in our first 10 sets we are working on... but perhaps you will let us include it in our next compilation set. Grunt! So much to do.

No plans yet. A lot has happened over the past week and the future is nothing but uncertainty. We'll see.
