This is an unstable build release. There are known bugs and issues. This build contains Psionics, the Sandy Dunes of Wayland, and much more. Once testing is complete, this file will be deleted and a new version will be released.

I'm part f the group, but never really helped much. ( had PC problems for a loooonnnnggg time. )

Anyways, I'm not up-to-date... is this the official hak or is it a dead project?

Heya, Cliff. You make some good points. I'm a member of the Athasian Nights team, just so you know. I do mostly scripting, though I also do quite a bit of 2da work as well.

First of all, it's important to keep in mind that this isn't designed to be a standalone module. Think of it more as an expansion to the toolset. With what we provide, you can create your own Dark Sun adventures. It's like a toolbox. We'll make some actual modules when we can (I intend to do one when the psionics stuff is done, and a few other people said that they were working on stuff), but for now, we're concentrating on the toolbox itself.

Yeah, there's stuff out there on the Vault and other places that I'm sure would fit in quite well. We're open to suggestions on that front - I don't really have time to scan the Vault for everything to see how we could use it in AN. I don't believe that anybody else on the team does, either. Do you have any suggestions of things you'd like to see in the hak? Things you've seen on the Vault that would fit in well? We do include nice desert tilesets, and some scripts. What do you think we're missing?

As to releasing individual things when they're done, I think you're right. It would be nice to do that. I intend to release the psionics hak when everything's done. I haven't released my psionics stuff yet because all the powers aren't done - four of the six disciplines are finished, and some of the feats, but there's a lot of work yet to do. I've got no problem releasing it as part of the AN beta, but if I release it as a standalone thing, I want it to be done first.

By the by, the CoDI character creator will make it quite easy for us to release the half-giants and kreen individually, and I'd like to see that done. Good idea.

The lack of documentation in this release is a problem, I agree. It is, however, a beta, mostly intended to distribute a 100 meg file among the group. Most of us already know what we're looking at. If you have any questions about getting things running, feel free to ask them here - I'm sure that either I or jade could answer you (don't think any of the other team members check here too often). Thanks for all your feedback. There is documentation on our website and in the 0_42 release. This build was mostly to distribute the large file to our team and testers so they could update the hak.

We have open alpha testing which no other Mod team does and it is because we can get valuable feedback like you've provided.

Many of the things you have suggested are already implemented for the next release.

Hmmmm .... I have examined your latest release, and I have some comments. I'm very excited about what you've done and I hope you keep working on it.

First of all ... are you trying to make everything yourself? Some people have already made some very interesting things in their own hak packs. They probably won't mind if you borrow their stuff. For instance, bodangly has made a really cool desert city tileset. Someone else made a jungle tile set you could use. There are plenty of monsters and things out that could easily be adapted for Athas. It might make your life a little easier.

Secondly, why don't you release things one at a time instead of all in a big clump? For instance, if you released your Thri-kreen just by itself, or the psionics hak, people would really dig it, I think. They would use it in their own mods and it would raise the profile of your whole undertaking. That's what CODI has been doing for a while now, and the models/haks they've released (like the marilith) have really brought a lot of attention to their work.

What you might even want to do is just release the tilesets, models, placeables and items, along with a big list of everything, give out the *.erfs as well, and let people make their own dark sun mods. With more Dark Sun material online, your group would get more attention.

As it is right now, I was blown away by what you've done, but because there wasn't any documentation and there was just so much in the hak file (as well as the lack of .erf files) I just didn't know what to do with it.

Still, what you've accomplished is nothing short of amazing. I can't wait to see what you bring out next. I'm trying to graduate from university right now, but when things settle down, I might get in touch with you and see if there's any way I can help out.

Hi, I've been following this project with interest and I've downloaded your file. However, I'm afraid I don't really understand it. Where's the documentation? There is a LOT of new stuff here (psionics, etc.) but I don't know how to use it or what to do or even where to install the files that come in the .zip file.

And the mod that came with it, is that a real mod? I loaded up a character in it but I couldn't leave the initial area.

Looks like you've got great potential here. But personally, I'm not sure what to do with all this.

Though unstable, this Mod is fully functioning. There are really just a few cosmetic bugs (such as 2da numbers getting altered by patch content) and then there are some custom class issues.

But try out the psionics by SteelDraco and the Sandy Dunes of Wayland new to this version.

Also if people would like to take screenshots of the Psionic Constructs, psionic powers, or just general Athasian butt kicking pics please email them to me and I'll post em on our site. (Make images web resolution plz)
