This Hak is barely different than Zonkers Hak. Supposedly has bug fixes, but the major bugs are still there. A horse that disappears when you dismount and a speed effect on the PC that doesnt go away when you dismount. I didnt notice if the HP was changed or not. The only real difference in this Hak is the change from a token to own a horse as opposed to some animal furs that were used in this Hak, but why try to establish ownership on a horse that is only good for one ride? If I am not misteaken, the fight routine for Zonkers horses was better as the horse didnt have that break dancing routine going on like these horses do. So far I can find no use for these packs other than adding niceley done horses as extra scenery. Because of the limitations BioWare put on the coding for polymorphing these horse haks are probably as good as they are gonna get through no fault of the author of the hak. Better work than I can do in any event.

Whoa! Great job. I was hoping someone would add this much needed adition to NWN. I love the animations when you're walking, but the running and attacking animations are a bit silly. I could help you with that if you want. Also, just a thought but I would have liked to see the running speed of this thing to be higher. I don't know if that's possible or not. Also, justa s suggestion, seeing as there is just one type of rider it might be an idea to put a hooded cloak or something over him, so that you can't see too much of what he looks like. That way the rider could pretty much pass for any type of character.
Anyway, congratz on a great HAk

I am sure you could do that although you would probably have to modify the script by making a copy of the horse and script it to approach the npc of your choice and use a start conversation command but instead of using the pc set it to start a conversation with the npc oh and makesure the npc has the item needed to ride the horse

the last post i see from yibble is way back in November...When can we expect a new update on this (if ones coming) or has yibble given up on this hak....?
I think it is a really cool idea, and it makes for a more realistic roleplay environment. Weapons appearing are not completely necessary but useful...I admit i haven't had the chance to check the hak out yet but i have always wanted to see if something like this was possible.
Since I haven't had the chance to check it out yet, can anyone who has tell me if this hak allows you to put NPCs on horseback as well. That is really what i'm looking for...
Thanks for the Work yibble and Zorak, for starting this all.

rar is a compression file similar to zip. you can download a shareware version of a winrar or other such prog from the net, just do a search.
i am extatic about the possibilities of rideable creatures. it's great! make more! and don't forget about rideable unicorns (i need them for my mod :-0)! griffons are wanted as well.

hey where do you put the .rar files or what do you do with them?

Whoho, this horse hak could come in handy, I was going to make some Mongle like empire and I was wondering 'how would I get horses for them?'.
but..... if it is a polymorph, would they be able to use bows while on horseback?

Hmm.. My female elf turns into a hooded male after
mounting.. And the creature does acrobatics when attacking
enemies, with flying leaps, and other such things that are
unbecoming when one is a horse..

I know I sound like a ch00b. But I've been experimenting
with this for an hour or so and can't seem to find how to
add the bridles. You use the bridle and the horse appears
right? I'm not shure how to put the horses into my mods.
Sorry for being stupid, but can you answer this?

ok, just to let you know, got on a horse and i attacked
another horse, all of them jumped me and i died.
OK i said... However.. I did not have the ability to res
Is this a bug? or how it was intended?

How exactly does combat work on your horses? Is it the
horse vs. the creature attacked or are any player skills\
stats transferred over? Since it's a polymorph obviously
you can't see the player weapon and spells probably aren't
going to work.
This is a little sad, I would like to have a knight, his
sword in hand, charge with an attack bonus to the
unmounted target who has to save vs. panic. :)
But still, horses are cool, and yes, we can use our
imagination to fill over the blemishes.
Do horses move faster than players on foot?

In response to your question Jjanin;
Polymorphing is the only way this can be done.
I know that once you realize its a trick it kinda
takes something out of it ... but consider this:
In earlier games we used to be able to imagine that
a blotch of about 6 colors was a powerful knight,
so just use your imagination to pretend that the polymorph
icon isnt on the top right corner of your screen :)

I looked at the code for this mod. looks pretty solid, but
why polymorph the character? that really takes some fun out
of it. instead, try making the character actually just be
tranported on top of the horse and sit down. Wouldnt that
also require less code? dont yell at me if im wrong, its
just a suggestion.

I like!! I like!! All I wish was that I knew how to work
with models so I could have it to where players wear grey
cloaks when riding. *Grins* Oh yes, and riddable dire
wolves and worgs.
Besides that, I think this is the best ridable update I've
seen yet. :)

Quester: I've nearly whipped up a work around for player
who use Cancel Polymorph to dismount. Just tweaking and
optimising, as it uses a heartbeat event (yuck!)
Just thought I'd let you know.

"A Full 3rd Edition Rideable Creature Pack." Did I say
that? Anyway. I've got Griffon in, but I'm not overly happy
with them (from an aesthetic pov only). So I'll be tweaking
them over time. I'm still interested in Creature Stats and
Animation/Models from the community member who wish to
contribute to this pack.

Wow! Nice job. inpresive work i'd say, lots of bugs have
been fixed since zonker released the original rideable
I wonder if anyone is developing a rideable horse that uses
the actual players avatar. in other words if a player
mounts the horse it shows thee player on the horse exactly
as they look normally.
I guess that is a little complicated to do but this is a
can't wait tell the full 3rd edition rideable creature pack
comes out that you say is currently in the development.
can't wait tell you release it.
well, once again good job!

hee hee. These rideable Griffons look real nice. Just need
to tweak the animations a bit and add some more tweaks to
code here and there.

Ok. I don't have a 3e monster manual, so I'm relying on
people to help me out with stats. I have stats for
Griffons, which I will be working on tonight! I require
stats for Ponies, as I wish to have a mount exclusive to
halflings. Anyone also got any mule stats?
I also require help from one of our 3d modellers, namely
saddles/bridles with saddle bags/bedrolls. Also to do
animation cleaning on the riding models. Please e-mail me.
I'm aiming for a Complete 3rd Edition Rideable Creature
pack here. So any suggestions, or rideable creature stats
and rules that you have, please e-mail me with them.

No saddles as yet. I think we are due for an update soon
though eh? 'Spose I better pull my finger out :)

Hey, you got saddles in now? information please!!!!!!!!!
I look here daily for an update on the horses issues, in
hopes that one day you will say this is the final version.
there nothting more that needs to be done. :-P and also to
generally just hang around in hopes i might be able to
contribute something (anything) to those equines,(doubtful,
but still in the realm of possiblity). ok then thanks for
the continued work. :-P maybe you could work on really
really good vampireism next. Also i hear dragons need a
little help flying. ok then bye bye now!

The cancel polymorph appears to be hardcoded and I can't
interface with it :( Still investigating though.
Sound like you are trying to put the wrong bridle on to a
horse. the bridle description must match the type of

Tried your mod and loved it. Is there a way once you UN-
polymorph from your chosen horse that the horse and you
seperate and BOTh stay on the screen? Also, if you un-
polymorph from your horse (non-tether the horse) you can
go back and buy a saddle but the new horse won't recognise
that he is ridable.
Just thought you may want to know.
Have a great day and thanks for the ground breaking

I've tried your animations out. and I had a few issues,
running animations seemed a bit stuttery, and I seemed to
have more instances of the horse rotating on certain
attacks. But I'd like to thank you very much for your
effort. I realise how hard and tedious animation can be,
like I said, mine street danced on first attempt :)
