SMART BAGS v2 FOR NWN

Works fine on any edition of NWN (unless woefully out-of-date).
WHAT DOES THIS DO?
These containers automatically 'grab' items of the appropriate type when the character acquires them.
This helps to keep inventory organized and uncluttered.
For example:
If you pick up a longsword, 2 potions, a gem, a key, a ring, an amulet, a longbow, 50 fire arrows, and boots, and your character
has the appropriate smartbags, the potions will automatically go to the potion box, the gem to the gem pouch, the key to the key
pouch, the amulet and ring to the jewelry case, the fire arrows to the ammo case, and the longsword, longbow, and boots
to the Loot Sack.
WHAT GOT ADDED IN v2?
- Loot Sack was expanded into 3 loot sacks called Loot Sack 1, Loot Sack 2, and Loot Sack 3
- Assuming the PC has one of each loot sack, when Loot Sack 1 is full, items go to Loot Sack 2. When Loot Sack 2
is full, items go to Loot Sack 3.
- Items bought from a merchant will no longer be auto-placed into a loot sack. Unlike the other smart bags, loot sacks are
meant for loot you pick up and take to the store to ID and possibly sell. It is not meant to store stuff you want to keep. Any
items you buy from a merchant WILL be auto-placed into your other smart bags if appropriate (ie - potions you buy will be
put into your potion box, ammo you buy will be put into your ammo case, etc.). This behavior is a big improvement for the
functionality of the loot sacks compared to the other smart bags.
- Note that, except for the 3 loot sacks, items will always go into the last eligible smart bag you acquired if you have multiple
smart bags of the same type. For example, if you have a potion box that is half full of potions, then you buy another potion
box, the next potion you pick up will go into your new, empty potion box. Similarly, if you have 2 potion boxes and fill up one of
them, the next potion you pick up will be placed into your inventory (because it couldn't fit into your most recently acquired box).
Fortunately, there is an easy workaround for this. Just drop the smart bag that you want items to be placed into on the ground
and pick it up again. This will make it your most recently acquired smart bag among duplicates.
- Added a Demo Module so people can easily check out how it works.
- This will likely be the final version unless someone finds a bug that needs squished.
WHAT DOES THE .ERF CONTAIN?
Includes 10 custom item blueprints and 1 script:
- Gem Pouch
- Potion Box
- Ammo Case
- Jewelry Box
- Scroll Case
- Key Pouch
- Wand Pouch
- Loot Sack 1
- Loot Sack 2
- Loot Sack 3
- mod_acq_smartbag
INSTALLATION AND USE
1. Import the .erf file into your module in the toolset (File menu/Import).
2. Place the script in the ModuleOnAcquire event (Edit menu/Module Properties/Events tab).
If you already have a script there other than the default bioware script, you will need to copy the code
from my script to yours (except for Bioware's tag-based code stuff, which is clearly documented at the bottom of the script).
It's a short bit of code and it's pretty easy to see what's it doing.
3. The blueprints for the smart bags are in the palette (Items/Custom/Special/Custom 1). Make these available at any/all
stores in your module. Trust me, the quality of life improvement is significant. Keep all your smartbags and smartboxes in
the front page of your inventory for easy access. If you have a Loot Sack, any items you pick up will automatically go into it
unless they qualify to go into one of the other containers.
Note that items already in your inventory will not be 'grabbed' by the bags, and you can still intentionally remove items from the
bags and move them around your inventory. It doesn't interfere with normal inventory management. It just automatically sorts
everything you pick up into the appropriate bags.
If you use this in your PW please let me know - I'd like to try out a server that uses it (especially a solo-able action/questy
type server). :)
