"The creak of branches catch your ear as you come to the boundary of the wood. Known to many as the Forest of Mir, the wood has grown out of control over the past few months.
The trail left behind in Almraiven has brought you here; a foul wood that has been attacking those along the Western Passage, or so the locals of Almraiven have said. Branches reaching a little too far, roots curling upward to entangle the passer-by and wandering spirits have been on the tongues of many.
It is here your investigation continues. What started as a simple investigation will end with the Auren Society of Weavers closing the pages of old and opening up a new chapter in the Arts of the Arcane.
Bring your skills Weaver, for you will need them all."

Well met.
What started as a simple investigation is now an enhanced investigation. And done by a Neverwinter master no less. More.

Phyte: My heart has been locked for longer than I can remember.
Sharwyn: Done, and done.

Uh, that's very fast. Still playing Almraiven (again)...
Yeah, this is surely great, but i guess like most of us here, i wonder when we'll see the third chapter...
Is there documentation on what's changed/enhanced?
The placeables and tilesets have been upgraded. Old trees replaced with new ones, old tileset textures updated with more detailed ones as examples. Cosmetic changes.
FP!
I'm drowned. Over and over again. (Spider Swamp, flooded ruins)
Is it intentional that the spoken number doesn't match the actual trigger tag in many cases? And that the neccessary sequence doesn't match the pointer on the tombstone?
Should work as the original, as nothing there has ever been changed. 1438 is still the order in which the stones are pressed. Each time a rune is stepped on, a number will appear letting you know what rune number was stepped on. Needs to be in that order and completed in 90 seconds.
FP!
I see. Youve really done much to confuse the cheater :-D
Thank you for making this.
Hallo, I have issues with 2 quests (playing EE version):
- 19 Knowledge : A Lost Soul
After killing wave sniffers, the Lost Soul doesn't appear, neither he's in his original location. Should he appear in another place?
- 37 Myth Unnohyr : Shards of Ameluril Redrine
Quest doesn't start because of Springskin stucked far from the device. I followed the discussion on the old module page (https://neverwintervault.org/comment/45882) but I can't figure it out...
Shadewood is the second part of the crime investigations started in Almraiven. Following the leads of Irena, a letter from Aries, and a Note from the Second Sister, the exploration and investigation of Shadewood starts.
The design of Shadewood is dense, as it is in Almraiven (see there, https://neverwintervault.org/comment/69943#comment-69943). The combination of maps, graphic assets, music, sound, creates a creepy woods atmosphere. The music is less engaging, less melodic as in Almraiven, which serves the purpose very well.
If Almraiven is 10/10, then Shadewood is 11/10.
Thank you for unique, masterful, polished and refurbished entertainment!
Spoilers
music: For example, mus_jts_dead1.bmu (the VLC media player can play these mp3 files) sounds what Volothamp transpires in musical terms: mysterious, dark, spooky, crowded by ghosts and lurking danger.
The encounter with the banshee offers a scary piece of horror.
The maze Spider Swamp and the ancient ice blue Myth Unnohyr add just the right amount of variety to the spookings all around the woods.
As with many interesting endings, the end of Shadewood raises more questions than it answers. Now, is the character stating: "I have answered your summon, Great Mistress," supposed to be (the true, decieved, bewitched, ...) Shayla Shay, or a character yet to be staged, some random Azuldath commander?
Bug Hunting
The adventure is highly polished already, there is almost nothing to report.
- Show Ghual twenty dinars
s/Ghual/Ghaul
- When all sarcophags have been bashed Zoetia floats invulnerable above the floor. Might be intended, yet many a vampire eventually seeks eternal rest.
- Trying to enter Flooded Home of Hagra reliably crashes the NWN program.
program vers: NWN-EE: v86.8193.34.1, on non-MS Operating Systems
Shadewood vers: 3.0, Last modified: 2022-12-22 05:29
The old version 1 of Shadewood does not crash.
This probably is a NWN program error, needs fix by program maintainers.
- from the NWN log: Failed to start new module: FateoftheAuren
That last bug is easy - Fate of the Auren does not exist yet as a module, however much we hope and dream. :P Fingers crossed and still waiting for it!
An extremely good mod! I really enjoyed it. I played with Annex as a companion and it was great. She had so much to say about the woods and events in general. It really made her feel like someone going through the adventure with you, and a proper character. It had a great story, interesting and suprisingly deep side stories, some even with their own hidden locations, and well drawn NPCs. I also generally enjoyed the feeling of being lost in the woods at the start, but you learnt the areas well by the end.
That is, apart from the swamp. I never got a hang of the swamp. I hate that swamp so much! Probably intentional, but still.
Also, I regret summoning Patterfoot. So many reloads to stop him dying. It felt like an animal following rather than just another summon, which is again probably intentional, but is both good and bad.
Overall, really enjoyable. If Almraiven was a sold 8/10, this is a high 9. That leaves enough room for part 3 to be even better. I look forward to the final part, if or when it arrives.
I encountered a bug with the opening cutscene where I wasn't moved. The script that's supposed to jump me to the ship didn't run. Your assistance in Discord was greatly appreciated (because I really wanted to play this module) and I'm only posting this here in case other people run into it.
Per Fester Pot's suggestion, if you use the console to run the script, via the following command: dm_runscript _end_fom_cs
it'll get you past this. Then jump yourself to Spider Swamp - Arrival, (press the comma key, scroll down to the area with the corresponding name, click it, and use the Goto button at the top of the DM Chooser.) Pick up the wood and camping kit, then exit the area transition on the east of the map. I encountered this on version 89.8193.37-4 of the game.
