Warm winds and hello! This is the file repository for the World of Greyhawk Action Server. The World of Greyhawk PW has been an ongoing persistent world since 2004. In addition to some information about the Persistent World of Greyhawk, also included are the necessary hak files to play on WoG. With the exception of the wog_server.hak, all of the listed files are links to the actual source of the hak. This is so the author/creator receives the credit they deserve for their contributions to the NWN Community. I would like to humbly thank all of the content creators for their fabulous content, love, and labour they poured into their art and work that was used for this project.

The following files are required in order to connect and play on World of Greyhawk. Once downloaded, the files will need to be extracted into your “hak” folder inside your local NWN directory.
The Greyhawk Wars -- War's End
... for two long years (582 to 584 CY), the nations of the Flanaess had schemed, murdered, and warred against each other until nearly all sides lay bloodied and beaten: war had exhausted the land and the people. Furyondy and Iuz ground to a stalemate; Nyrond's vast coffers were drained dry and its overtaxed peasants were rebellious; the Great Kingdom was shattered into a swarm of petty landholdings vying for power; Keoland fought invasion on all sides; countless men, dwarves, elves, and orcs marched off to war, never to return; farms stood empty; fields lay fallow. . . .
The Flanaess could make war no longer.
Proposals for a peace conference met with greater and greater acceptance. The puppets of the Scarlet Brotherhood, taking orders from the Father of Obedience, issued a call for a grand truce: every nation would cease hostilities and put its own house in order.
In the end, through negotiation, intimidation, and even assassination, the Brotherhood's proposal found acceptance. The City of Greyhawk, untouched by the war, became the site of the conference. In the month of Harvester, the Great Council (as it came to be known) convened.
The proposed truce, though simple in theory, proved an enormous undertaking, what with the countless ambassadors present. In the six months of the Great Council, intrigues abounded as each side attempted to gain the upper hand. The conference nearly collapsed more than once when ambassadors took umbrage over some real or imagined slight.
The final act of the immense drama of war occurred on the Day of the Great Signing. A pact had been resolved and nearly all the nations had agreed to sign it. As this solemn ceremony got underway, however, a tumultuous event occurred.
Even today a haze obscures the details: apparently someone plotted to annihilate the entire diplomatic corps in attendance, but the scheme misfired. A blazing explosion destroyed a good part of the Grand Hall only minutes before the ambassadors assembled for the day. A fierce magical battle immediately ensued, spreading havoc through much of the old city. When the fire and dust cleared, constables discovered smoldering robes belonging to two powerful members of the mysterious Circle of Eight--Otiluke and Tenser. The murderer of these wizards, undeniably a powerful mage, was discovered to be a third member of the Circle of Eight--Rary. Using secrets gained in confidence, Rary not only vaporized his two fellows but also tracked down and destroyed every clone the pair held in preparation.
The motive behind Rary's treachery remains clouded. According to many who knew him, the wizard probably saw an opportunity to seize power and land in the confusion that would follow the assassinations. Others suggest Rary was a pawn of the Scarlet Brotherhood.
With the plot discovered, though, Rary and his co-conspirator Lord Robilar fled the city. Unable to return to Robilar's castle, which was immediately seized by the troops of Greyhawk, the pair escaped into the Bright Desert. There they conquered the savages and established a kingdom of their own. Though small and mysterious, this growing state could someday threaten the very borders of Greyhawk.
Fearing further disruptions, the delegates hurriedly signed the Pact of Greyhawk, and so the wide-ranging war of the Flanaess came to an end, and gained the misleading title, the Greyhawk Wars.
The year is now 585, and a winter looms looms on the horizon. The Shield Lands lie in ruins. Critwall is an island surrounded by the forces of Iuz. Furyondy is stretched to the brink as they seek to check the advance of Iuz. To the south, an Empire stands where none has stood-- The Pomarj. Under the leadership of Turrosh Mak, they have carved a kingdom from the Wild Coast, the Suss Forest, the Principality of Ulek, and have seized control of the trade and commerce of the Woolly Bay. Few if any have escaped the last two years of calamity for the war has touched all. This is the world in which your hero lives-- a world filled with treachery, war, suspicion, intrigue and fear. This is the world of Greyhawk.
The above was taken from David "Zeb" Cook and Roger E Moore's Official History of the Greyhawk Wars. This is the stage that your character is thrust upon. These are the times that you are in. In addition to the above, the following are independent adventures that lie within the vast expanse of the Greyhawk world. These are faithful adaptations of the old pen and paper modules from the 70's and 80's, and they have been woven into the milieu of the Greyhawk PW. You may seek... but do so at your own peril (note, the following level suggestions are just a guideline for the PW):

World of Greyhawk Mithral Edition is now live. Please don't forget to vote. For questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me either here or at the WoG Forum: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/worldofgreyhawkfr/
Been playing WoG for well over a decade. World of Greyhawk Mithral Edition is better than ever!
The DM's have put a ton of hard work into World of Greyhawk Mithral, and it shows! The place is always growing and expanding! Been playing for over a decade like Bob, and I still love the place.
Have to vote first then post comment I guess... Get's a 10 from me!
I've loved this PW for years. For many of them, very little changed over time, but it was always a blast to play and took me back to my youth of waiting for the weekends to play PnP Dungeons & Dragons.
(This was back when, if you had said "Pen and Paper AD&D", people would have looked at you funny, as if to ask, "Well, how else are you going to play it, smart guy?!?")
Against the Giants, Hommlet and the Temple of Elemental Evil, Inverness, Hugo the Axe, Mother Grubb, the Cult of the Dragon, and on and on. And, that's all before hitting epic levels.
Now there have been a flurry of updates, improvements, and new adventures. All better than ever. But, still that great Greyhawk feel permeates the place.
An excellent PW representation of Greyhawk, run by a fantastic DM squad. Been playing here on and off for years (the off part only for lack of playing time!)
New content and updates are always being worked on. To me, this PW feels very much like P&P.
This Server is the pinnacle in World of Greyhawk content - from The Village of Hommlet->The Temple of Elemental Evil->Against the Giants->The Queen of Spiders, to The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, to a home-baked Keep on the Borderlands, and such greats like The Ghost Tower of Inverness, White Plume Mountain, and other great World of Greyhawk goodness!
All done with painstaking care to detail, atmosphere, and maintaining originality translated to the NWN engine!
Simply amazing, and it has to be experienced to be believed!
Hard. But I like it hard. All time favorite server.
Update to some of the Haks (mostly revisions). See above for details.
World of Greyhawk webpage implies that CEP 2.65 is what's required. I didn't find these HAKs until I started searching the vault. Many aren't as dense as I am, but for those that are, updating the web might be helpful (if it's still yours).
Edit: SO many haks. Has Griz thought any more on the NWSync? I think WilliamDraco put out a really nice "How To" recently on the Beamdog Forum. Would MASSIVELY simplify the joining process for new players.
Had known of this server from the offline module, and I immediately liked it!
These are my first times in teamwork....love them!
Is this server more into RP or action?
Is RP required from players?
Thanks
The World of Greyhawk is first and foremost an action server, but there certainly are RP elements. It's all up to the player on how much you want to roleplay. By no means is it a requirement, although many parties break in roleplay just for fun in the midst of the action.
I started off as a cleric (of Fharlanghn) with Travel and Protection domains, as there is no Travel and Trickery in Greayhawk's deity i was looking for (need to be Lawful to take Monk levels). I hope i will not regret it later on (loosing improved invi from trickery)
My advice to new players is start from Hommelet, take Jaroo (druid) quest and wander off the main road (the one near eastern edge) to Moathouse. There are woolfs, snakes and frogs that shgould take one to lvl 4... eventually. And take it slow, it is challenging place. Also enemiest are likely to hide so investing in listen or spot is good idea.
Probably looking for group of players at later levels is the only way to go. Which might be a problem for ppl being in deifferent time zones (and the server being not over populated in the first place :D).
I'll be playing for sure for few more weeks, to see how far i can get (mostly solo). The place has the charm that i was looking for, and the fact it is challenging makes it even more interesting and rewarding.
Also here's a very useful guide indicating at where to go on certain character level: Link to the post
Update:
Enjoying the game so far. The road to the Temple is pretty damn cool. Good place to be ;)
Update 2:
After visiting some more palces, and more challenging enemies must admint not everywhere is so sweet. Challenge seems unbalanced at places. Enemies sneak to often, not always it makes sense. It is just tiring to expolore every location in search mode. There are places that this server actually feels pretty old and too grindy for my taste. But non the less, the atmosphere is still pretty great. Also nowdays you will be lucky to find DM playing if you need one.
It is just my honest opinion, due to i haven't played back in a day and i don't have nostalgia about it.
PS. Verbobonc looks amzing, it shouldbe BG3 :>
take1, take2
Saltmarsh is amazing too, brilliant atmosphere there. Alternative starting place, levels 1-9.
04/2020:
Thx for reading anyone.
Is this a port of the original NWN WoG server? (I actually ran a copy of that with some friends for a few years and tried to work it with the Greyhawk Lords (??) world.) Something like that, it's been a long time, but I think I still have the mods zipped up on a drive somewhere.
If so, that really brings back some memories. I only just discovered the multiplayer support was back with the EE and need to check it out.
Is the CEP for the EE different, I assume?
Not quite sure what you mean, but this is, and always has been, the one and only World of Greyhawk Action Server. I have uploaded the old 1.69 version here on the Vault (search "Raine's World of Greyhawk") but this version is the EE version. It is, in every way, far better than our old 1.69 version. It is not available for offline play and is PW only. This is the repository for the haks, hak links, tlk file and other doodads.
CEP is not different for EE. Almost every mod ever made works for EE.
Update: We now have weapon feats for all CEP weapons. It took awhile but we finally got there.
Updates to server hak requirements added.
Hi there, is it possible to play it only locally or host it privately? In case it is not, it it a possible in future that it will be made to be hosted locally?
The old 1.69 version is still possible to play locally.
Small Update to Hak Requirements:
Classic Dungeons by Maxam with EE modifications by Txpple. Link under Required Projects
BioCity Interiors by Ancarion, link also under Required Projects.
Probably bit off more than I can chew, but the last and final adventure for WoG will be nothing short of epic.
Small update to the WoG tlk and 2da Top hak -- had to correct an issue with Half Orc Double Axe Proficiency.
Great challenging action based server with optional RP and a friendly supportive community.
New WoG_2da_Top.hak update to address some doube axe weapon focus errors for half-orcs. New version should correct any issues.
Updated WoG_2da_Top.hak to merge new Beamdog content. Please update your 2da hak please. Cheers!
Updated 2da_Top hak and cep260wog.tlk. Please update.
