Fake/Concealed Door Placeable EE

This is a piece of serendipity (translation happy accident). I had built an area then realised that I needed to add an exit from the area but that there was not enough room for a conventional doorway. Then I had an idea. As it was for an EE module why not make a flat model but use normal and specular maps to make it look 3D? So with nothing to loose I made the three textures and TheBarbarian made a custom model for them. To be honest it turned out a lot better in-game than I was expecting.

 

Now for a caveat. This is designed for low-light interior areas. I did try it in a bright interior setting and to be honest the lumps and bumps are just too detailed but it looks like the picture above in dark areas.

 

Use. You need to carefully use Adjust Location so that it is flush with the wall. For a concealed door you will also need to position a generic trigger in front of it and add your own script to transport your PC(s) to whichever area you want. Note do not use an area transition trigger as the change of cursor will give the game away.

 

This package contains just the model, textures and placeables.2da line as well as the readme and picture of it in game. It is intended that you add the relevant files to your own hak file.
