“Hail and well met” is a greeting I reserve for precious few dwellers in the dark halls of Undermountain. Indeed, most inhabitants are best met with the edge of a blade or worse. Still, I speak from experience that friends may be found in the most unlikely of places within Halaster’s home. Provided, that is, you can crawl over those who fell before you and survive to meet them. . . . —Mirt the Moneylender
Welcome to the first DUNGEON CRAWLS adventure module, where we return to the timeless depths of the Realms’ oldest and greatest dungeon: Undermountain! It is for characters level 7-9. New characters will be leveled up to 8.
This is a remake of the 1996, TSR module 9519, by Steven E. Schend. This project was originally built for the now defunct PW, Skullport, back in 2008. I have re-worked it into a single-player module for characters level 7-9. The Skullport version was for lvl 18 characters. Once you entered the area, you were trapped there. Spawn points were changed so you couldn't escape, even through death. The 6 exit portals sent you all over the server. Some safe, some not so much.
Kaedrins compatable and DMFI friendly
Game play- Hack and slash. Don’t look for any mushy romances, or intellectual orations.
Play time- About 6 hours.
Companions- There are 4 possible companions, any 3 selectable at a time. Fighter, rogue, wizard, and Cleric.
There have been reports of crashing on area load, so I recommend saving before area transitions.

Do you happen to have any hints on where to find the third portal key? I imagine there is a secret door I've missed somewhere (probably linked to the Spider Key), but I haven't been able to find it. The module is really fun by the way. I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but changing the character in that way was a unique touch :P; I'm looking forward to playing Maddgoth's Castle next.
I did experience the module crashing on load when transitioning areas, usually into the main Lost Level, so saving before transitioning is a good idea. Maybe it is due to the size of the area or something like that?
EDIT - Wow, I actually facepalmed when I found it. How did I forget about checking behind the most obvious place xD Is that Spider Key used for anything in the Drow Prison though?
can't find that secret area ;(
A decent adaptation. All worked well, except for the charging of the saved games; about 50% crash. Save every 5 minutes of gameplay in different slots. Played with a lv 8 human swashbuckler. Everything OK; just fits the author description: H&S.
Yes, I was gonna comment about the crashes just like GeorgeBurnet did, I remember playing through the Maddgoth's Castle about 3 years ago, and I don't recall any crashes with that one. Anyways, I don't have any weird items on my character (as in, custom items, nor any weird race that might produce any conflict with the module) and I can't get through the very first portal to actually start the adventure. It crashed on the area transision 4-5 times, I restarted my system, it crashed a couple more (it doesn't load properly the area??) and I managed to get through once, I saved there and I can't load the save file now XD
Any hints?
A good mod with a bad habit of crashing on area load.
As P&P Conversition this is better than average. The NPCs are fleshed out well enough to be worth talking too and have been given a bit of character beyond simply reciting the minimum plot points as some other conversion projects have done.
They NPCs have roughly the stats you would expect from the source material but don't have the skill points they should have for NWN2. You may wan't to use Clangeddin's tools to relevel them with the correct number of skill points in useful areas.
Gear is provided for a new PC or you an import one of your own. I recommend thet latter as you may not find exactly what you need in the stores and you will need money to upgrade your companions basic gear.
From the discussion above I must have missed one treasure but the only serious problem I had was at the end. Every time I tried to use the portal to exit the dungeon and turn in the books, my game crashed at the end of the load screen. Since I could not get back to Waterdeep, my exported PC is still a dwarf! Well, no one said adventuring was a safe profession.
Areas are beautifully crafted with atttention to detail in each one. Well worth a playthrough.
