Interesting - Gonna check it out.
I appreciate the fact you uploaded everything just in case someone wants to help. This looks like a very interesting project and it would be a shame to lose it.
hey it would be a shame for there to be no end goal after accumulating all that power and gear. perhaps put one or two last bosses to be the ultimate final hurdle that your party must overcome to give meaning to all that hacking.
Hey Ugly Duck,
Maybe you could supply the readers with a document which areas are actually accessible (sure you have a design document of some kind)? I find it quite tedious to run over to doors only to find out that they cannot actually be opened/lead to nowhere. Or just set those doors to static so they cannot be interacted with.
Also it seems that most of the unique enemies (such as Carl the Constructor or the Mad Halfling) are set to invincible in their properties and cannot be killed. All in all those encounters are all pretty tough and seem to have been designed with a party of level 15 characters in mind but party creation is not supported.
I think a small map with some kind of basecamp (maybe a merchant or two) would be a nice addition that would not take too much of your time.
The OM is huge but can be confusing sometimes. Maybe location markers for points you have already visited could be changed in color? Also some locations lack proper names.
I have no intention of sounding to harsh, I respect the effort and the amount of time spent creating this piece but-as the author said himself-it is very much unfinished and unless further work is done it's not really fun to play.
EDIT: I created a fix for the monster spawning on the OM. More information can be found here: https://neverwintervault.org/comment/34164#comment-34164
I was able to kill both of those enemies by loading an epic PC from previous games. Looks like they both start off with Greater Stoneskin or some equivalent spell that you have to reduce first to start getting serious damage. I'll play with it a bit more in the coming weeks and see what else I can learn.
As the author says, this is partly finished and if you just want to run around with an epic PC killing things there are a number of areas to explore. The is no plot and no dialog. Several enemies start with a number of buffs and spawn on top of you. Stay buffed, stay sharp. A couple of critters have such high DR only certain power builds will cut through them. If you don't have epic gear, be prepared to run.
As a work-in-progress, you will run into a number of map locations that have no content, and some that just say <place text here>. There is a central tavern with a bounty collector but there were no merchants. I recommend downloading Rod of Shopkeeper here on the vault and putting that in override.+
SeriousSam's fix for Overland Map monster spawning did work although I only got friendly encounters regardless of species.
This has a good bit of potential if someone wants to polish it up. For instance, a couple of very tough creatures give almost no XP because of errors in their blueprints.
Update: I looked at this a bit in the toolset and noted a few things.
1. Several areas are partially completed but cannot be accessed from the OM yet.
2. Some enemies don't give much XP because their CR is set too far below their actual levels.
3. Some enemies have off the charts level combinations! e.g. Rogue 30/Assassin 10/Shadow Dancer 10 (yikes!) There are a couple demons with 60 or more levels and 3000 to 5000 HP. So that explains why they cannot be defeated.
This might be a good target for testing out Clangeddin's Level Cap Increase to 160 - https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn2/other/level-cap-increase-160
