Tonolin by andgalf
This is the 6th installment in the "A Strange World" series. It is set in the same world as A Strange World 2, A Strange World 3 and At A Distant Shore. This is a single player story driven module/campaign for a level 1 male player character of any alignment in a custom world (or worlds, actually). (Need to play a male character - the story won't make sense with a female character. Sorry!) Most of the dialogue choices assumes you're not an evil character. This is a standalone adventure and you don't need to have played any of the other 5 modules in the A Strange World series. However, things like lore, locations and other stuff mentioned might confuse you a bit if you haven't played the other modules in the series. There are a few cameos from the previous installments, and also references to events taking place in the other entries in the series.
The playing time is around 9 hours. There's lots of talking in the module/campaign and it focuses quite a bit on romance. The adventure has 9 companions. All of the female ones are romanceable, plus there are two female NPCs who are also romanceable. It goes without saying, but to be clear, you can only romance one of them.
It took me a lot of time to create this, so please be kind and understanding if you experience bugs and crashes or other annoyances. I've done the best I can, but NWN2 is unfortunately still a buggy game.
WARNING : Even if this module/campaign doesn't contain any Adult content, there are suggestive dialogue and violence, and it's not meant for children.
Don't play if you are young and uncorrupted.
Story Synopsis:
It's been about 7 years since the events of At A Distant Shore. You are an adventurer who has traveled to Anwir in the Northern Kingdoms looking for an artifact. Things didn't go as planned..
As said, you need to play as a male. Preferably human, half-elf or elf. That way all the animations will work.
Installation instructions
OBS! VERY IMPORTANT: If you don't have the english version of the game, you need to download the alternate_playermenu_popup.7z and replace the playermenu_popup.xml in the "Tonolin" folder.
All files must first be uncompressed with 7zip (It won't work with winrar, I think). Then put the contents of each folder into Users\...\Documents\Neverwinter Nights2\ (10, 8, 7, Vista) or into My Documents\...\Neverwinter Nights2\ (XP)
ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: Use the NWN2 Client Extension when playing this!
In detail:. After you downloaded everything,
1. Put the contents of the music folder into ..\music\
2. Put the contents of hak files into ..\hak\
3. Put the TML, TML2, TML3 and TML4 folder into ..\modules\
4. Put the contents of the overridepart1 and overridepart2 folders into ..\override\
5. Put the Tonolin folder into ..\Campaigns\
6. Put ingameguix2.ini into Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\ui\default
7. Put the Neverwinter-dqrg.ttf into your UI\default\fonts in the game installation folder, for example NWN2 Complete\UI\default\fonts
8. Download and install the latest version of the NWN2 Client Extension: https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn2/other/nwn2-client-extension
9. OBS! When starting running the game: Choose Options - Graphics - Normal Mapped Terrain and turn that off. Otherwise there will be a missing texture in one area.
10. When you're about to play for the first time, run the game through the Client Extension, then: Choose New Game, New Campaign, Tonolin
Known bugs:
1. This campaign tends to crash a bit when you get to, or leave, the big city. You'll know when you get there. Therefore it's imperative that
you use multiple saves and save often! I'm really sorry about this! I have tried to make it easier for the player by putting an autosave function
as soon as you enter or leaves the city.
2. The module is dependent on you having party companions. When you've played for a while you will be able to remove and add party memebers through the party roster gui. 4760 told me that this gui was screwed up in the non-english version of the game, which makes it imperative that you use the custom playermenu_popup.xml for that. See above under "OBS!".
3. Sometimes the "adding quest" gui can get stuck and not disappear. If you reload then it will go away, or as soon as you get your next quest it will also go away.
4. It's imperative that you use the NWN2 Client Extension when playing this! It will reduce the crashes quite a bit.

Make sure to talk to everyone! Your companions have a lot to say.
Congrats andalf....wow...looks very impressive. Pics look amazing!!
Thank you! You're not tempted to buy and try out NWN2?
I actually think I just may do that. I first bought it when it came out thinking it was an upgrade from NWN (and that it would be compatible with older stuff)...but it was so buggy to the point one could not play it without frustration. I will go see how much it costs now. :)
Ugh...still too expensive $27.19 Canadian (207.75 Krona) on GOG where I have my NWN:EE from. I prefer to buy my games from there since I already have some games from GOG. I'll wait till there is a deal on it before i buy it.
It goes on sale for $9.99 every few months, comes fully patched, and usually bundled with several other older titles.
Hey, I ran into (potentially) some kind of issue. I've reached Cergeh and I don't know how to progress. I asked around for clues about the artifact and done (apparently) all the side quests. Inn is closed off, where according to one of the NPCs should be a guy who will lead me further and two gnomes in the north part of the village don't want to talk at all, despite being named NPCs (don't know, if it's intentional). In client extension console, when I load the game, I get few warnings:
LoadModuleResourceData: WARNING: Failed to load module rules data (No module resource name!), game world updates will not function properly.
LoadModuleResourceData: WARNING: Failed to load module area database (No module resource name!).
and

I tried unpacking all files again, problem persists.
That sounds strange. I've never had an issue with using the Client Extension with this. Never had those warning messages, so I have no clue what to do about that. My beta testers haven't reported this either. I know that if you open the different modules in the toolset though, you get two messages regarding blueprints (they appeared after having added some stuff and then removing them from the campaign, I don't use those blueprints), however this has never created any issues within the game when I've tested, so that can be ignored. In any case, the Client Extension is mostly needed when you get to the big city. Before that the game has been really stable when I've tested it. One of the 2da files might have an error when it comes to numbering. Again, this can also be ignored. Never caused an issue when I've tested.
In Cergeh you are supposed to speak to Teala (not just one time). She will refer you to Tukas. If you speak to him you'll get a clue of how to proceed. If you've been referred to Tukas you'll find him here:
Alright, for whatever reason they both (Teala and Tukas) didn't spawn at all. I looked a bit through module folder and noticed that NPCs that DO spawn have their own utc file in the TML2 folder, but for those two there are none such files. Also tried looking for some clues in the toolset, but, frankly, I don't know anything about it. Should they be in the village from the beginning, or they only appear once you trip some script in one of the other conversations with the villagers? Is there a way to force spawn them somehow? I read somewhere about rs ga_create_objct command, although I have no idea how to insert variables into it as the only source I was able to find was for the very specific issue and there is no command "template", so to speak.
Alright, I fixed it by making a copy of my whole Documents folder and just putting mods on "clean" install. Should have done it in the first place.
Well, leason to learn here, at some point most simple solutions become hardest to think of.
From the little I was able to play, this looks like another awesome project. However, I am stuck at an odd bug. Minor spoiler below.
When fleeing from the bandits on horseback (toward the first Town) when I reach the transition, my pc freezes and BitDefender states that it must disinfect malicious code lines.
Help?
Sorry for the late reply! I've been away during the holidays and taken a break from NWN2. I'm back now, though.
Wow, that sounds like a really odd! I have no idea what's going on. I can check the script there, but I have never had this bug occuring (and I've tested this horse fleeing thing a lot of times). My only solution to give you is to try and replay from an earlier save and hope it doesn't happen again. NWN2 is so weird sometimes.
The loading of the city can always cause a bit of problems though (like I've already stated in the info of this campaign). Reloading tends to fix stuff though. If you're really unlucky it might take two tries.
EDIT: I found an old save from before entering the woods with the bandits. Tested it two times. One time I failed to outrun them and had to fight them, then the dialogue ran and after that the area transition. Then I did another test with outrunning them and there was the area transition. Everything worked fine. Script looks fine to me. So, the only advice I can give is just reload an earlier save and try again.
Neverwinter Script is pretty old and BitDefender may not recognize it any longer. See if you can temporarily suspend BitDefender or see if it has settings to ingnore specified programs or files.
