A Strange World III - Diary of an adventurer
A Strange World III - Diary of an Adventurer is a single player story driven module for a level 1 male player character (human, half-elf, dwarf or elf) of any alignment in a custom world. (Need to play a male character - the story won't make sense with a female character. Sorry!)
Most of the dialogue choices assumes you're not an evil character. This is a standalone adventure and you don't need to have played A Strange World or A Strange World II before this one. However, I would recommend you playing the those two since some characters from that one might appear, and there is talk about the events that happened which you may not understand. And if you plan on playing the first A Strange World or A Strange World II later you will be spoiled in this module. It's a light hearted module with focus on romance, story and characters.
This module took about 1 year and 6 months to complete. A lot of hard work was put into it, so please be kind and respectable if critizising. I've really done the best I can, but I'm neither a writer or coder. I do this just as a hobby. NWN2 is a bit buggy still, and everything may not work perfectly all the time. I've only used prefab areas, just as with my other modules, so no areas you see have been done by me, only modified by me. See further down for details.
The playing time is about 8 hours, maybe more. Use a level 1 character to start with. You will be levelled up to level 3 at the beginning of the module. For roleplay and dialogue purposes please play either human, dwarf, half-elf or elf. This one is a bit more linear than ASW2. This module is set in the world with no name that the characters went to in ASW2.
WARNING : This module contains Adult content. Even if it's most of the times skippable, don't play if you are young and uncorrupted. Don't let your children play it. Patch level 1.23. Requires both extensions MotB and SoZ.
Story Synopsis:
Almost 30 years after the events of A Strange World II, the king of Dolsea, King Menglen I, finds his daughter being kidnapped by the evil wizard Septimus. The daughter, a warrior princess - who was leading a raid against the wizard's tower at the time - underestimated the enchanter's superior forces and were captured. Chancellor Julovius of the royal court, put forth a call for all heroes and adventures in the region, summoning them to the small village of Fallbrook, in an attempt to stage a rescue of the princess. Princess Elvera - beloved by all - is said to be as beautiful as she is mild and just. Her older brother, Auboron, the heir to the throne, is abroad conducting business of trade with the neighbouring countries, thus not being able to help at this time. Available or not, everyone knows Auboron is a peaceful man, not made for fighting or staging a rescue.
Installation:
Read through this. I'm serious. It's really annoying when people have trouble because they haven't installed things correctly.
I'm sorry for the extremely large override folder. I've downloaded so many things from the vault (I think I've downloaded almost every new head there is and all new armors I could find) that I use that I haven't been able to keep track of what I don't use in this module, therefore I put everything here to be on the safe side.
So the first thing you should do is make a backup of your own override folder before putting all the stuff there.
All files must first be uncompressed with 7zip. Then put the contents of each folder into Users\...\Documents\Neverwinter Nights2\ (10, 8, 7, Vista) or into My Documents\... \Neverwinter Nights2\ (XP)
In detail:
1. Put the contents of the Music folder into ..\music\
2. Put the contents of asw3hak folder into ..\hak\
3. Put the ASW3 folder called into ..\modules\
4. Put the contents of the override files (first unpack the 3 zip files, and then right click on the 7z.001 file to unpack the 7z.001,7z.002 and 7z.003 files) into ..\override\ (If for some reason your own version of the game (if you have a french version for example) can't use Tchos HD Panels, remove that folder from the override)
5. Put the asw3Intro.bik file into ..\movies\
6. Put the ASWIII folder into ..\Campaigns\
7. Put everything in the Terrains folder to C:\Program Files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2\NWN2Toolset\Terrain (or NWN2 Complete\NWN2Toolset\Terrain if that other folder doesn't exist)
8. OBS! When starting running the game: Select OPTIONS at Game Startup Screen ==> Then GRAPHICS (TAB) and uncheck Normal Mapped Terrain.
9. When you're about to play for the first time: Choose New Game, New Campaign, A Strange World III

Notes about the module:
1. Story driven module for a level 1 human male player character of any alignment, even though the module expects you to be good and not evil (Need to play a male human, elf, half-elf or dwarf character - the story won't make sense with a female character. Sorry!)
2. Animations work most of the time, but since NWN2 is not really fond of animations in general, you might be unlucky and things could sometimes look a bit weird. It has mostly to do with characters sitting down or doing some other custom animation.
3. There are a few known bugs. For example: in one area when one of the companions has left the party and you search for that companion, the companion should be standing at a certain place. However, 50 % of the time the companion comes running towards the party instead. I have no clue as to why the game behaves like this. This thing doesn't break anything though, but it's not as I intended it to work out.
4. 4760 reported this sadly: "Many CTD (crash to desktop). The game froze for many combats (had to kill the process) or some transitions just sent me back to Windows. Possible bug fixes:•Install “Client Extension”•Change the sound settings to “Direct3D”, “no EAX”."
I myself have only had a few crashes when testing, and that's when you come to a certain city area. I made some auto saving there. I'm really sorry about all this. I haven't been able to fix it. 4760 reported that you can use the NWN2 Client Extension to solve these things. However, in my experience, this module, when testing the NWN2 Client Extension on my laptop, it crashed at the first scene in the module (not so on my main computer though). So use that at your own risk. You can find the NWN2 Client Extension here on the vault. Just search for it. As a precaution: Remember to save often.
5. Save often! NWN2 is still generally buggy and this could save you from having to replay too much.
6. If the game somehow stops and you can't do anything, it might be because a cutscene dialogue is about to start. Just wait for it to happen. Sometimes it can take, if you're unlucky, up to two whole minutes before a dialogue starts, but I've never encountered any situation where it didn't start eventually. Most of the time it just takes a few seconds for the conversation to run though.
7. All the female companions are romancable, plus one female NPC.
8. There's quite a lot of talking. If you don't like that, this module might not be for you.
9. The fights can be quite easy for a hardcore gamer. However, I think it's a bit more of a challenge at certain areas than my other modules, but I don't know. For me, fights are not the important aspect of this module. It's all about characters, story and light hearted fun.
10. There are a few minor puzzles in the game. They aren't that hard, I think, but you might get stuck in a few places. I've provided a hints guide for these things.
11. Since this is a custom world not everything might work the way you think if you're an expert on D&D and its rules. If you get stuck, try to think outside the
box or check the hints document.
12. If you romance a character, please do not try to romance another at the same time. I think you can romance all those available, if you have enough influence, as I haven't prevented it this time around. It can be quite complicated to prevent this. So if you think it's fun to break the game then by all means, but you have been warned. If you ignore this the game might possibly break, things plays out weridly, and in the end and then you might have to replay a large chunk of the module.
13. When I've tested the module I've always used the Exploration Mode when it comes to camera.

Woah! Didn't expect a third installment in the Strange World series already! And here I am still having not completed the first one where I got sidetracked with something else while playing it half-way. Looks like I have some catching up to do.
Looks great! Cant play it as I dont have NWN2 but pics make me want to . . .
But I haven't finished ASW II yet!
I feel rather foolish asking this, but do you think you could post the answer to the lever puzzle on wizard tower level4?
I can't seem to figure it out.
>>SPOILER<<
Hi jsolberg
Go back to level 3 and look for a little bag there and you will get a letter who will give you a hint for the lever puzzle.Look carefuly it is not hightlight,
it is in on one of the other room.
Have a fine game.
Bradcom
Are you sure about that, bradcom? I don't remember having made a bag with hints for this puzzle, actually. But you're the beta tester, so you might remember better than me.
Anyway, here's the solution:
>>>SPOILER<<<
The sequence is this: 1,5,4,2,3 seen from the left.
