Hello everyone,
This is my second module (the first one being Asphyxia). Thanks for taking a look at Live Forever.
I'll be blunt; this is the best book you'll ever play. It has everything of nothing. Wall-of-text conversations. Flawed boss fights. A linear story. Woefully inept scripting. Poorly written dialogue. Hell, I haven't entirely decided what the story's about. Maybe it has something to do with a gem. Maybe a little bit about living forever. Or maybe it has nothing to do with either of those. Wouldn't that be ironic?
You'll have to see for yourself. Let me know what you come up with after playing. Maybe we'll solve the mystery, together. If that sounds like a challenge, then it absolutely is. =)
Good luck.

just wondering if this is the sequal to Asphyxia the authors first module?
This is essentially a buddy movie. No, it's a book, lots of reading, very funny at times and surreal in the end. Some tough fights.I had to cheat on one.If you like twisted things you'll have to play this. And the misfit feeling is incredibly well executed, once i found myself standing in the rain with what seemed to be a shovel as weapon, there are some hilarious moments.
Wow, my comment has been removed... LOL.
So i won't comment again, i'll just vote (and it should comment by itself)
what was it?
What, the previous comment? Something like that the module was a total waste of time or so, i think.
Let's say that Dakeyras explained in detail my previous quick comment, so perhaps i should have been more... Specific.
The only difference is, if Dakeyras has understood the plot, i really didn't. And if by chance someone of those who gave vote 10 would explain me the story, i would be grateful. Becouse seriously, in the end (unless i didn't miss something) you get no explanation, so i didn't understand the sense of all the 'tale'.
Such a beautiful module!
Masterpiece. The only cons I can find are some too-cool-modern expressions (someone talked about superman?) and the anti-climatic, too weird ending (the journey to reach it, nonetheless, is fascinating). No doubt, this mod is REALLY linear, but 95% the story is nice, combats are fun, characters are interesting (they over-shadow the PC, in fact, and there is no way to prevent that), and, above all, everything (objects, scenarios...) is stunningly beautiful.
By the way: know that you are part of a bandit group.
A wonderful work!!!
Just Finished Asphyxia. Was a very good mod to play my Nwn2 game.Loaded up the second part Live Forever and my character lands in the cave dead with a neg 20 Dex score. Then the game crashes and exits to desktop. What gives????????
Edit: Not going to vote on this mod(Live Forever) yet cause i can't play it. As of right now if forced to vote on it, i would give it negative stars. But can't rightly vote on something you can't run.
re-edit: Ok seems you can NOT take your exported character from Asphyxia to Live Forever. You need to start a 1st level character(not mentioned it writeup). Loaded a 1st level bersion of my rogue/ranger and started to look around a bit but game kept crashing for some reason.
Very linear and not much you do will affect key points of the plot. Verrry long cut scenes. Save often. Of the two campaigns, I enjoyed Asphyxia more.
No bugs, no crashes.
I have to say that this module absolutely blew my mind. It truly is a work of art, a literary masterpiece of a story. Hands-down one of the best NWN modules I have ever played, both NWN 1 and 2 included. It is not like the other modules out there, it plays like a deep and touching movie. I never felt so greatly invested into a NWN story since Mask of the Betrayer. The dialogues are smart and the story progression feels very natural. The twists and tons of foreshadowing were amazing as well. My only complaint about the story is that you really have to replay it several times in order to truly get a grip on what exactly is going on. I would love for the author to explain some moments since it does get confusing and "mind-screwy" at times, but that is arguably what makes it even better. 10/10 storytelling, you will propably never find something like this in any other NWN module. You really just have to play it yourself, trust me.
The combat aspects are very simplistic (except for the boss battles) few and far between. A hack-and-slash adventure it is definitely not. The boss battles at times get really hard, but overall they're enjoyable and unique for a NWN module. Also, the penultimate battle is hard to the point of feeling unfair (not to spoil anything, but it is a battle with a "lightning" boss). I only managed to beat it out of sheer luck on my 5 or 6 attempt, and I don't consider myself that bad at NWN)) I also have no idea how you're supposed to beat him with a pure melee OC. For that reason I would recommend players to add a wizard/sorcerer into their character build during the module. And the final boss was just disappointingly easy, I would love to say that its the point, but I don't think so, not with how he was hyped up beforehand.
Long story short: if you enjoy a great story look no further than Live Forever. Even with some minor combat issues it is still so deserving of a 10/10 rating. Big thank you to the author for creating this wonderful gem. It surely won't leave my head for some time)
Well the builder is up front about the flaws:
- The dialogue is incredibly clunky. Lots of song lyrics forced into replies. Completely linear dialogue- your responses make no difference.
- There is way too much exposition.
- Totally linear, you have no impact on the story at all.
- No gameplay. No real chance to explore or customise your character. Some tough fights, but not really imaginative- buff and slash and you'll win.
- Without wishing to spoil anything, the nature of the story makes all your actions pointless.
There are some interesting ideas in here. It's not the worst mod I've played and it was an OK diversion. Clearly some people liked it, but I think it would anoy some players.
Can't believe I forgot to rate this when I first played this! I played this using a Bard/Fighter/RDD build.
This is absolutely amazing, everything about this screams 10/10, albeit linear as Dakeyras has pointed out.
Surreal twisted story with multiple twists, distinct hand-crafted high quality areas, tons of attention to detail, interesting characters, great writing and to top it all off unique boss fights too! What's not to love! Okay, maybe the lack of choices, or should i say the illusion of choice, but the pros outweigh this immensely in my opinion for this module.
If you like a straight story with no plot effecting (like in Dragonlance) this is well put together
Thank you Azenn for creating one of the best Campaigns for NWN 2. I recently uploaded a playthrough on my YT channel of your campaign and its been such a pleasure to revisit some of the most stunning sceneries and atmospheres. The story is utterly fantastic, intense it is but nessiscary in order to draw the player deeper into the story and its filmatic cutscenes where used so well, so simple but atmospheric and intensive and always a sense of uncertaintly.
The battles are tough but not impossible once you manage the party properly and explore.
I would whole heartly pay good money for this guy to design and build levels as the quality of the level design is on the whole, just unbelivable.
Any tiny flaws are not worth bringing attention to. 11/10 for a campaign that lives in my NWN memories forever.
