"Approximately 60 years have passed since The Great Battle of Charnia (see "The Exile"). After that battle, the creatures and followers of Zorn continued to grow in numbers and eventually run the Charnians from their homes. The Charnians escaped into the forest and eventually crossed through a great mountain range via the mountain dwarves passage. On the other side of the mountain they began to build a small town with a few outlining villages. The followers of Zorn eventually stopped hunting the Charnians and returned to their lands. They began to lose focus (since there was no one to torment) and eventually separated into different clans and tribes based on race (goblins, orcs, ogres, dark dwarves, zornians, etc.) About 10 years ago your (the PC’s) father, Adwen, led a large group of Charnians in an attempt to return to Charnia. Since the attacks had pretty much ended, they felt that maybe Zorn's evil creatures had all destroyed each other and returning to Charnia would be safe. The caravan never returned. You and your brother were young at the time. Your mother has never recovered from the loss of her husband. A month ago your brother led a small group to try and find out what happened to the first caravan. They were only supposed to be gone for a couple of weeks, but haven't returned. You have decided to form a very small (thus undetectable by the evil creatures) party to search for your brother."
I recommend first playing "Chronicles of Charnia - Escape from Charn" and "Chronicles of Charnia - The Exile" (not necessary though - but helps develop the setting and history).

On the old Vault this module had a score of 8.73 based on 26 votes. It was downloaded 2,142 times. This project was set to Hall of Fame status based on satisfying the old Vault criteria of at least 300 downloads, 25 votes, and a score of 8.00 or better.
Awesome
Only took me 7 years (and lowering the criteria from 5,000) from the time I released the first chapter (final chapter was completed in 2009) to get the HoF tag...Hahaha lol
Played as a Ranger and finished at lvl 7. I played with three companions which the description said should be 'normal difficulty.'
Did not hit any bugs, plot was mostly linear but quite sensible. Some nice areas, a couple seemed to exist solely for a single conversation. One quest I couldn't Finnish and one that seemed to come out of nowhere and complete when I killed a certain critter. Neither seemed too important to the plot.
General impression, needs polish. You can see the difference when you look at the author's later work.
The middle of module is tougher than the beginning or end mostly because of the limited supplies available. I could beat the enemies but was too depleted afterwards to continue without back tracking to resupply. While the description says any fighter class should be playable, I found light armor and gear limited or too expensive for about 2/3 of the game. Based on the loot I'd say a Paladin, Fighter, or melee Cleric would be the best bets.
Pay attention to the death system. Unconscious characters don't recover at the end of combat. If not healed, they die. This drives your consumption of healing kits, spells, and potions way up. Plan accordingly.
Still a solid bit of work and worth playing, esp if you are into the Narnia books.
Consequent with the rest of the series. Longer. Some areas re-used. All worked fine for me. Perhaps the dungeon's structure should have been more varied (you enter a dungeon, you find some low-lv monsters, you enter the next level, you found the boss with some body-guards, you receive the next journal entry, repeat in the next dungeon...). Too linear and a littlle bit on the easy-side.
Please spoil me, how do I get to Glenfax?
Edit: Never mind, I found it.
Linear but nice
A good following and end to the charnia chronicles. I came back to some areas with pleasure, and the whole story makes sense. ty
