Hi all,
I've decided to pick this up again, at least in limited fashion! I don't remember how to do much of anything in the toolset anymore, but I can probably make a few smaller updates to the module.
From what I've been able to read on the old vault (via archive.org), Storm of Zehir does not play nicely with the persistent companion hak. Therefore, I'm thinking about making an updated version that does not use haks again. I would keep the most recent version that does include them for archival purposes. If anyone has any objections or other ideas for workarounds, please let me know.
The forthcoming update would include:
* Changes made by ladydesire for level 1 character gold, and epic levels up to level 30.
* Ability to access the store that runs one level range below your current, in addition to your normal store. E.g. A level 9 character could access both the level 5-8 store (+1 store) and then level 9-12 store (+2 store). I found that I wanted to do this in a few cases when leveling up my own characters.
* A +4 store serving levels 17-20. I might do a +5 store too, if anyone has interest in such a thing.
The new update would most likely require MoB and SoZ, because I have those installed. Again, there would be
Comments/suggestions are welcome!
Thanks,
Berliad
Despite the 'chattiness' of the staff, this is the character builder I use the most. The FRW standards have always seemed the most reasonable to me and the stores relatively complete without letting the player run wild.
The only thing I can think of that I've recently run across is the lack of traps for my Rangers and Thieves.
<brief pause to deleted cat typing>
The only other thing might be a 'skip intro' button so that regular users don't have to experience the gnome's opening speech every time.
Thanks! Glad you like it.
Traps are definitely something I overlooked (playstyle: I rarely use them), but are an easy addition to the store. I'll think on the skip speech button. I click through it pretty fast when I use it, but I can see that being annoying. :)
Update is in the works...

Update! Version 3.0.0.
As promised, I have updated the module! It only took 7 years. :)
Unfortunately, because I'm running off of a Steam installation of NWN2, the module now requires both expansions. I have left the prior versions available as legacy files.
Changes in this update:
* Support up to level 30 with appropriate gold.
* Ability for level 1 characters to get *some* gold (ask Chatter to make you level 1).
* A new +4 item store.
* As you advance in levels, you can access your current level's store, as well as the previous store. This can be good when trying to buy a few low-cost items to round out your characters.
* Traps available for purchase in all stores (thanks to GCoyote for the suggestion!)
* Removed persistent companion support. That hak unfortunately no longer works with of SoZ.
GCoyote, I tried to get Chatter to be less chatty, but he seemed unwilling. That said, he is easily interruptable (just keep clicking). Sorry if he's annoying, but I guess I still find him too endearing to remove...
If you folks have further requests, please let me know! I don't have many scripting skills left, but I can make small changes to the stores if they fit the spirit of the module.
Cheers,
Berliad
It works! Ran up to level 24 just to check it out.
Q. Now that Chatter has some cool artifacts among his stuff, is Sal goiing to be jealous? Looks like the "Premium Store" needs a makeover as well.
I put a few things in there, but not a lot. :) But yeah, Sal's store does need a makeover. What I always did before was grab a few interesting items as I played through FRW modules. FRW is no longer a thing, unfortunately. But I still might go through and mine the mods that were eventually released. I have half a mind to gear the character creator to support other FR modules that weren't really Weave modules, like H&C, Maimed God's Saga, Trinity, etc. I'd need author approval, though. I've heard from EC Patterson & Tiberius in recent years. Not sure if Maerduin is still around or not.
Thanks for the continued interest!
I also find it helpful in testing as I already know what level PC I have to use and this scales the gear and money without me having to do more work.
There is still a fair amount of very common gear in the OC and expansions that might go into Sal's store without over balancing a new build. The character I generated last night ended up with nearly 750k gp and I simply couldn't find enough things to spend it on. Probably not a big issue as there is so little content available for play at that level.
I see you have a new page for 3.0 so I'll post future comments there as new issues/ideas crop up.
That post was just an advertisement in the promo forum. This is definitely the place for comments on the module! :)
Agreed that there is a lot of unique, interesting gear from the OC and expansions. I'll think on it! My preference has been to only add custom items that have appeared in community modules in that store. I've always felt it was more of a showcase than anything else. That might be something I look at doing one of these nights.
It's definitely the case that there's just not enough gear for an epic-level character to buy with the gold they receive. I could add a +5 store, I guess, but I don't know how often that would be used--as you noted, there aren't a lot of epic-level modules. While the creator supports epic levels, its stores really only support up to around 17-20 (+4 gear). If you go over that range, you will likely have far more gold than you know what to do with.
I also just realized that I didn't go through and add scrolls to the +4 store for the last several wizard spell levels. I'll try to do that for the next update!
Nice!I tend to accidentally overpower my chars, so this is a very good way to go!
I used this for Subtlety of Thay and a few other modules. Thanks for the update, Berliad!
I use this all the time.
You only need to interact with the three shop keepers. It should be fairly simple to edit your copy to either open the store immediately or go directly to the other conversation options. Give it a try.
Very nice for setting up characters without op'ng them
