This is a simple exspansion of the NPC Statue Scripts found here: http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/script/custom-npcmonster-statues
I always like adding randomness to my own modules and this is what I've done here.I'm also pretty frugal with resources and always looking for ways to do a lot with little. This is one such result. Upon spawning in, your NPC will assume 1 of a 100 random appearances, adopt 1 of 10 random poses before being "frozen" into place and the petrify effect being applied, and they'll adopt a random 360 degree facing.
For best results, set your NPC to PLOT and assign it a faction that is neutral to PCs. Then spawn the NPC(s) in using Bioware Encounters, Scripted Triggers, NESS Spawn Points, etc... . For best performance, you should spawn in statues just out of the line-of-sight of PCs, but within perception range still or closer. Areas using these NPCs should also have a means of removing them when PCs have left and respawning them when PCs enter again later. Since each spawning creates random results, if you truly desire a specific appearance, use the original version I've linked above. Since the statue script fires from the OnSpawn event it does not work well with NPCs that are preplaced in the module.
I've only used appearances found in Bioware's 1.69 appearance 2da so this should work with most hak sets and overrides as well.
1 - To use, import the erf found below.
2 - Create a neutral NPC with whatever appearance you desire as a "base appearance".
3 - Clear all event scripts from your NPC's properties and use "nw_statue4" in its OnConversation event and "nw_statue9" in its OnSpawn event. Leave ALL other event fields empty.
4 - Test your creation and enjoy.

So they have a tendency to change position randomly when they spawn in? I feel a wheeping angel moment coming on.

Thanks, I use them primarily for "random gardens" of statues in/near areas with medusa, basilisks and cockatrice. I think the randomness adds to the sense that an area is "new", even after a few visits .. at least to me. :)
Thank you for this! We are having fun. Nice huge list of creature examples and easy to edit for different areas.
Made a canyon with many of these and now we have a mystery event of what happened to these creatures? Medusa must be around! mmmmm.... I didn't think about the basilisk and this would be fantastic to put down there. And I do like making fun things at my players ... and even surprise them.
Glad you're having some fun. Since my own PW often uses random encounters, I've had the statues spawn alone, or as part of an encounter with a basilisk, medusae or cockatrice. Players start to panic as soon as they see any type of statues now. :D Since some Beholders and even certain of my hostile NPC casters can cast petrification/flesh to stone ... I'll likely soon add statues to them at times. Seriously though, last week, while out exploring the underdark on my server, with a small group I was on Skype with, they all went into panic mode when one of our encounters (random) was a small group of statues. Both the IC comment IG and the OOC comments over Skype were hilarious, and much "buffing" was involved. :D
