Custom splash screen that attempts a remake of the original. I really missed the default splash screen and couldn't find an image large enough to make a 1920x1080 version, so I made something that would be as close as possible.
This is a 1920 x 1080 remake/rework of the original Neverwinter Nights title screen and will override the new splash screen released by Beamdog.
*Installation*
Download the attached file and then unzip the three files inside to your override folder.
**Note**
This will only look correct @ 1920x1080 resolution. If you send me a request, I can repackage the file for other resolutions.
*Uninstallation*
Remove the three files from your override folder. :)

I used the MDL files provided by ShadowM here:

The main background page is a Beamdog profile background you can find on Steam and the EE logo itself is from a Beamdog page banner. My wife edited the logo to give it an all black background. So basically the only thing I've done is placed that logo and packaged the files.

Great idea. It is a shame that the old menu background isn't compatible anymore. I had the most bitching mixture of the original, premium modules, and Aenea purple-colored title.
Thanks friend! If you have a 1920x1080 picture of the background, just convert it to .tga, name it 'gui_pre_bknd1' and drop it in override and replace. That's all that is needed to replace the background image. It's ShadowM's project that makes it possible, I just made a background. :)
Shouldn't the extension be .tga because if I remember right .tar files are a type of archive file primarily used on Linux/Unix.

Good catch. I mind blanked myself and wrote .tar on accident. Corrected that.
I wish it were that easy! See, the original menu was not a single image, but a weird, jigsaw-like mixture with (at least) two bknd files and probably layered titles. Unfortunately, mine was built as a composite of that, it is certainly not that high in res (probably around 720 or even less!).
Looks great, thank you!
Thank you, vault friend. <3
In the current release of EE, there is no longer a need for ShadowM's project. Just take your favorite picture, resize it to 1920x1080, save it as gui_pre_bknd1 in .tga format and drop it in your override folder.
However, if you wish to change the position of the buttons, then ShadowM's project is needed.
Otherwise this picture looks nice!
Hi Grym,
Thanks for info and the kind words. I thought the same about replacing the background image and tried it a million different ways, but it only seems to replace it correctly when I use the .MDL files as well. I think I'm on the newest version, no way to say for sure because Steam doesn't seem to display it anywhere, but I do see the shiny new loading bars in my toolset, so I think it's latest. This is what I see when I remove the two .MDL files and leave just the .TGA:

Actually, rename picture of your choice: gui_pre_bknd3.tga to make it work without Shadow's .mdl files.
No logo needed either as it's there in the main game files and will position itself.
If smaller pics with a black frame around them are desired name a black picture: gui_pre_bknd3 and the smaller picture: gui_pre_bknd1.tga and use shadow's mdl files. The smaller picture will be positioned correctly in the center though it'll look bigger or smaller according to the resolution your game is using. A logo file will be needed too as the smaller picture will overlap the logo the game places. choose logo of your choice and rename it: gui_pre_logo.tga You may need to use a transparent gui_pre_logo.tga if it's positioning itself oddly and embed your logo into your picture like you have done here to make it look right.
Or you could just make a picture with a black frame around it and name it: gui_pre_bknd3.tga
Check out my work too if you want and use what you wish from it: I've included a lot of pictures and logos mixed and matched and in different sizes both for 1.69 and the Enhanced version and also used Shadow's work.

Haha holy eff those are nice backgrounds. 7 of 16 in that collection is my favorite. It's so beautiful! And thank you for the huge amount of additional info. I may keep tinkering with GUI stuff and seems I will be well armed if I do. I think your reply could probably be the standard guide for menu configuration. Thanks again!
I didn't like the older main menu and I like the newer one even less. So this is a welcome change too!
Excellent! I'm really happy to hear that it solves a similar (small) problem I was having. :)
This is 100x better than that abomination that is a new default in EE now.
Thanks Shadooow! Just as I think your scripted variable systems are 100% better than most default systems. :) Really appreciate the compliment and all you have contributed to the module building world.
Well met;
Rookfive this is really fabulous. Back when created a custom loadscreen jigsaw for the original Neverwinter, and now I can do it for EE. Neat stuff. Thank you also Grymlorde, and Vivienne.

Phyte: My heart has been locked for longer than I can remember.
Sharwyn: Done. And done.
Could you format this for 1366 by 768, would really love to use the mod since the current GOG version uses an older and smaller main menu
Looks much better than the odd Beholder.
