A DM is required for this game. It has finally happened, aliens have arrived on our planet. The first sightings were fairly benign though they included reports of abduction. Many rejoiced at the irrefutable evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence, while others claimed the world was going to end. Then the abductions increased.... The governments of the Earth are scrambling to come up with a defense to the alien menace. You have all been handpicked to be the first assault team for "X-COM": the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit. You start in a secret base in Area 51. Your tasks are as follows: 1. Respond to alien attacks with deadly force. 2. Retrieve alien artifacts for scientific analysis. 3. If possible, capture aliens alive for interrogation and study. The Area 51 base has a state of the art laboratory, as well as a workshop capable of manufacturing just about anything. Top scientists and engineers from around the globe have been retained to provide you with the resources necessary to be the front line in defending the earth. The experimental SkyRanger craft allows you to deploy rapidly and with great range. While the world's militaries have been mobilized, they are primarily occupied with maintaining martial law, which has been imposed planetwide, as the public is understandibly in a total panic. Alien attacks against hard installations is predicted, especially against air force bases around the world. Our base is entirely underground, but if detected would likely come under strong assault. Mod uses DMFI. Do note the d20 Modern requires CEP 2.0 This is Version 3 of the mod. Version 1 I've relabeled as obsolete, as much of the content was broken in updates to CEP and NWN. Version 2 is a fantastic rebuild by Lazybones. Version 3 is my edit of that rebuild. A changelog of major changes is included for the curious, though I basically changed everything a little bit. Mostly just fine tuning for balance and consistency that few would notice. I am currently working on a prequel for levels 1-5 called X-INV. No ETA yet. Lazybones has already made X-COM Terror From the Deep and will likely post it to the vault after beta testing, so X-COM will soon be a trilogy! After that I'll start working on SP versions. I promise. This module is an expansion/update of the excellent "XCOM Area 51" module originally created by Mulu and posted at this site. It was the basis for a campaign that I hosted at NeverwinterConnections.com from April-November 2008. It works in 1.69, although the haks overwrite most of the features of the new patch. The module requires a DM and is intended for recurring play with a regular group of 4-7 players. The module requires the d20 Modern package (ver. 1.3), CEP 2.1, and several of the Worms tilesets. A Campaign Overview is included with information about how to incorporate a strategic game, where players can decide on research and manufacturing priorities in between sessions.
