The City-Kingdom of Sotaris needs your help. The beloved Duke Lorance has gone missing while on a peace mission to the orc lands to the north. His life is surely hanging in the balance and with each passing second he may draw closer to his final breath. Unable to risk the sluggish proceedings of official procedure Senator Talin has issued a call for help to the adventuring and mercenary community. You have heeded that call for help. Whether your reason is for the promise of thousands of gold as payment or the desire to assist the beleaguered city in its time of need an adventure is upon you. BUILDER'S NOTES: Death- This module uses a "rez sickness" respawn system. Whenever you respawn, in addition to normal penalties, you will recieve -2 to all stats for 3 minutes. Resting, restoration spells, etc. will remove this effect. This module is designed to be played by level 1 characters and will take you to level 5, perhaps level 6 if you are thorough. There are no alignment restriction though not very many options for the dedicated evil player. Module length: 2-3 hours This is my first ever module to completely finish and post on the vault. I hope everyone enjoys and I only failed to notice a minimal amount of bugs! Lots of thanks goes out to the scripting forum on the bioware boards, especially Axe Murderer. That guy pretty much saved all of my more complicated scripts. UPDATE 10/26/05 Like the dork I am I forgot a small amount of content. I have updated the file and it now includes the new material. UPDATE 10/27/05 Going off Alcarin's comment I have fixed the encounters in the module. No longer should they spawn directly on top of you (or behind you!), though some will give you less time to respond than others. |

Pretty nice as a first mod. A simple adventure, pretty straightforward and bug free... the twist in the plot is predictable and the encounters are a bit repetitive, but all of that is to be expected from an inexperienced author. Instead of complaining about it I would rather praise the little details, like the existence of a subplot involving court politics and even the final scene which was really rather surprising... it is not the final battle mind you, but the final scene, after the battle... I won't spoil it but suffice to say that it is not something that many mod makers remember to add and it sure offers another small bit of reward to the whole experience... and it is worth the effort to talk to some of the citizens in the square, they all have something different to say.
It would be nice if authors such as this one had continued improving their techniques.
Thanks for your review.
A good effort, wiht several areas. Large areas and no stone of recall really made slogging a necessity. sometimes hard to figure out what to do, with minimal map pins. OVerall a good effort with some story. Try it for a quick one.
