Description | |
A secret war is being fought in the shadows of Europe. Demons walking the earth disguised as men are feasting upon the blood of the innocent. In the forefront of this battle is the Order of Abel. A clandestine order created from within the Christian church which has taken it upon itself to put an end to this the darkest of curses. These secretly trained assassins are serving as the sword and shield in the hands of God, with the soul purpose of ridding the world of the plague of the Vampire. This module is not based on, but greatly inspired by White Wolf’s World of Darkness (Vampire the Masquerade/Requiem). It’s a story driven single player adventure, set in a Europe where most people lives happily unaware of the demons lurking in the shadows of their cities. The enlightened ones, however, find themselves in a conflict unlike any other. It’s a conflict not as black and white as it may seem, but a war with heroes and murderers on both sides. Character requirements: - 1st level Human/male/Fighter. Reasons why: 1) The background story of your character will be revealed throughout the game, and simply won’t make sense if you play as a female. 2) You’re a man of the sword in a world where elves and wizards exists only in fairytales. Additional info: - No Respawn. - No Rest - +50 000 words of written dialogue. - 12 quests. (Half of which is hidden/optional) - 33 areas. - Custom-made Vampire skills. - 2 different endings. - WARNING! Contains; Violence, sex, drugs and blasphemous language - If you do feel offended, think about this: This is a story about soulless creatures forced into cannibalism in order to survive. Neither these monsters nor those who hunt them are likely to be “nice people”. |

there is no portraits on most of the characters is it supposed to be like that or i did something wrong
Did you put the .hak file in your NWN\hak folder? I haven't played this module extensively but did see portraits the last time I loaded it.
yeah. hak is there some characters have portraits but most of them don't.
Do you have portraits.2da file in your override folder? This may cause some problems with portraits.
nope. don't have it. perhaps it's something else in override. i'm gonna try with empty one
If you've installed the 1.69 Patch, you'll need to keep the 1.69 Patch Overrides in the override folder. In case you deleted everything, you can redownload these files here: http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/other/patch/169-override-patch-...
actually that's the only ones i had. perhaps its supposed to be without portraits to be more like vampire the masquarade
Enjoyed this module.
Great use of camera. ThOugh a little tiresome each time a character talks. Too much like NWN2.
Found myself aghast, then laughing, then aghast again!
Loved the opium trip. Would like to steal it for my own modules.
Well done.
This is one of the modules I return to with some regularity. Superb use of the medium in terms of visuals, sound, gameplay and - of course - the story unfolding.
For everyone who thinks about playing Vampire - Heavens Defied. You should! This one is a really great horror module with good plot, characters, details, roleplay and awesome setting. Vampires depicted as they should be - bloodthirsty predators, sadistic and evil in general, although main character has choice on how to roleplay. Module isn't very long (7-10 hours i think), but the ride is memorable and worth it. One of the best modules for NWN and the guy who made it had totally unique style. Many thanks to him for his work.
Played from the old vault
Copy of mine old vault vote:
Very nice module, the reskin of the city made it very atmospheric.
Few issues:
- conversations dispel my haste(cheat code), don't know if it's the same as speed skill.
- some doors are passable in mist form and some are not, the second one being so only because plot demands so. No explanation given.
- 3 knights in the shelter are too strong, used mist form and everything was OK
- you can carve multiple hearts out of the corpses, if you are not too slow
- being invisible mist bartender still saw me sneaking through the door and taking his stuff made him aggressive.
- no pawn shop in medieval city? Had much stuff I couldn't sell:(
- some healing potions here and there - shouldn't be there I think
- sha-forat prisoners - no way to free them, now that I'm thinking about it - maybe I should use the mist form?
- blank journal entry "henchman"
3 knights in the shelter are too strong, that's correct, but great none the less!
Amazing story, wish it be longer.
Cant play it, maybe kaedrins pack is incompatible.....
Love this module - amazing job.
Not my thing. I don't like the stirp, with no real gear to replace mine. Also I do not like being forced to play a "bad" character. The constant zooms for each short conversation were not cool and the whole thing was just a bit too strange for me. Sorry.
I tried to do this again, figuring I have matured in my tastes for some more intricate modules like this...Nope! I found the abilities hard to learn and I was always trying to keep doing the right thing, not harning innocents and the like. The doors that did not open for my mist form cost me big time, 20 XP per try, and I did not have that many to spare! Thank god for rats, is all I can say!
I found trying to sneak around a real pain, with little pay off. The areas of the city were not laid out well and the gear minimal at best. Too much work for me, I guess I am lazy! Off on another adventure!
It's not my scene, I played and when I finished I thought: this story has no content,
NPC you can barely have a conversation with them, to know them,
whatever you do, you have the feeling you are in wrong side, in the evil side… I sorry but my rate are: 4/10.
This comment and rating of mine were unearthed from the old defunct IGN Vault page.
"Even though I forgot to vote when I played this a few years ago, I still have fond memories of it. Great atmosphere and good use of the setting!"

Nice module. I loved the first fight against the "mad" vampire who appears when you think this quest is completed.
I *believe* I made it to the end of the module. Not entirely sure. *SPOILERS*
I made it to the cut scene on the boat after the escape but the cut scene never ended.
In all the module was okay. I liked the abilities that came with being a vampire but the module itself is a bit slow and hack and slash for my taste. Wish their was more roleplay aspects to it.
Great atmosphere and setting, unsual and fun - I walked through with 3 potions and solved quests in a way that werent' probably intended - but were so much fun - I just love such things.
A few minuses which didn't really spoil the experience that much.
some quests seemed to be unnecessary - for example I spent pretty good amount on some medicine and in return got "thank you, now get TF out" and that's it.
Vampire with a mask on his face wouldn't follow me, so I had to kill him instead of saving as I was intended to do.
Ending cut scene just stuck and I had to hard close the game.
