The history of Middle Earth is sewn with legends. Exceptional people renowned as heroes of their time; or held in terrible infamy. Many such tales are widely told and remembered. But equally, are the Untold Tales; those that were drowned out or overlooked amidst the pressures of their time of telling. What follows is one such tale, and it is told over a number of chapters, this being the first... On the eastern borders of Rhovanion lies a small rural village. One of many such, scattered amongst the fertile farming plains. It is here that the focal figure of this tale begins their journey. An apprentice to a respected scholar finds themself trading the neighbourly, quiet village life for something quite different, when the life they knew is ripped out from under them.

Quickguide Introduction: "The history of Middle Earth is sewn with legends. A new path, but of what? Justice? Revenge? Perhaps simply a new life of adventure and discovery. No matter the path taken, the events that follow change that apprentice and the lives of those close to them. This chapter of the tale takes the hero across many leagues, including the bustling markets of Esgaroth on the Long Lake; crumbling crypts; the wildlands of Rhun and it's volatile mountain ranges; macabre Easterling fortresses and the shadowy gloom of Mirkwood. This is a tale of loyalty, love and friendship. Of hatred, justice and revenge. All play their part in the making of this untold hero. This Untold Tale is but the first part of their incredible story... Game best suited for 1-3 players (Does not include NPC companions) For new characters, levelling to approximately level 12 Game length approximately 20-30 hours"... IMPORTANT NOTE: This module was started in August 2012 and finished in January 2013. Originally intended to be a part of a NWN1 trilogy. It was put together using 7 years of experience making the MERP UK Untold Tales of Tolkien persistent world modules. This was our first attempt at making a story game for single player/single party. We did lack the technical expertise in the team compared to our previous works, but the experience proved very educational. To that end, the series is going to continue, but instead using NWN2 to take advantage of its stronger toolset for the creation of this type of game. This will include a re-mastered and enhanced version of this module (a demo of which will be available soon) and then the completion of the series. Anyway, we hope MERP UK followers and newcomers enjoy this humble, first attempt at an offering! Out of Dwarven Chasms, Catacombs, Barren Lands, Deep Dungeon & Undercity tilesets you only need catacomb02.7z, dwarvenchasm02.7z and deepdungeon02.7z Out of WoRms (9) New Tilesets you only need wrm_SeasonalV10.rar, wrm_FantasyInt.7z and wrm_ScorchE.rar Do check out the quickguide pdf, it contains a brief series of table-based information on the game and links to the files needed to play. So this is finally the go-to place for all the files you need, guess it was inevitable! This mod had approx 260 downloads on the original vault and a rating of 9; placed a vote to mirror that, though I felt the original votes placed were rather generous :P
Anyway, enjoy and keep an eye out for our NWN2 project :)
so there is not going to be nwn 1 sequels? too bad
only nwn2 sequel is in the works
How can you make this work? Thorburn is hostile when going to talk to him. Using CEP 2.61.
I played this module when it came out and enjoyed it greatly. This week, I returned to it (more great enjoyment), but have run into a problem with The Tomb of the Alchemist. How do I get past the gates on the bridge? I can see the bridge controls and a nearby lever but I can't find a way of getting to them (I suspect there is a hidden/secret door involved but searching has been fruitless so far. I'm sure I solved it last time, but this time I would appreciate a useful hint.....
Problem solved - I tried a less subtle approach (it may not be the "official" solution but it worked! :) :) :).
i am not sure if anyone else experienced this, but the game kept automatically exporting my character in certain spots. after finishing the game, i had to go back in and delete over 100 added character saves ! i have no idea if this is a bug, or a poorly implemented design feature.
the environments are beautiful, exteriors and interiors, however it comes at a price, you need a good pc/vidcard to handle it, my old laptop really chugged in certain places.
as far as immersion, story , writing, they are all great, and if you are a LOTR fan, you will enjoy this one. be sure to read the books lying around, great LOTR and Hobbit stories.
normally i am not much of a crafter type, but this mod really makes it very advantageous to make your own weapons, armor, potions, bandages. i enjoyed that.
well done to the authors. i look forward to trying the NWN2 version as soon as i can get a pc to run it lol.
