A terrible snowstorm rages over the village and rumours can be heard of that a caravan sent to get some food has been missing for some time. Can it be so that you're just about to enter a nightmare even worse than the one you survived two months ago ...?"

Thanks Werelynx! :) I'm sad to hear that the old vault has been taken down. Glad I decided to upload to the new vault though! :P
What a massive jump in quality from the first mod!!
Pros
well done.
Just finished the series and yes I know I'm pretty late :P
But nevertheless, I really enjoyed it.
The custom music really made a huge impact on the scenes. It just gives you a better feeling of what's happening.
The 2nd Module really is a huge improvement from the first. Very nice!
I was expecting some twists or so since it is a Horror module and pretty much everything in the horror genre has twists,
but was glad it didn't since the ending I got (Escape) was very satisfying.
10/10
*Rating for Both Modules
Excessive use of custom content leads to an experience that is mostly horrifying aesthetically rather than having any real horror atmosphere.
My engagement dropped steadily despite a strong opening, and I simply quit entirely less than halfway through, the visual clutter and disorganization was simply intolerable.
One particular problem was the heavy emphasis on novel inventory items, which forced me to spend a lot of time looking at inventory rather than engaging with the setting (though the heavy custom content ruined most of the scenes anyway). This was an inexplicable choice that needlessly hindered immersion, especially the "cooking minigame". Utilizing the copious food ingredients pulled me out of the main story for no clear purpose.
Audio was also overused in many areas, going from "foreboding" right past "frightening" to "annoying".
Where Surviving Horror 1 was a solid B-movie experience, the sequel devolves into a high school student film produced by the rugby team at a pool party.
Yes, horrifying. But not in any good way.
No rating, as that would be needlessly discouraging.
Hy everybody. When I saw haks.exe I knew that it won't work. Finished SH1, very good mod with a hak for manual copy and paste. So, when loading SH2, it happened what I feared. The haks exe installer didnt work (didn't even asked the way to the game directory) and the game couldn't load "sh2.hak.hak". That's why I always prefer manual installation. Does anyone has that file or know where I can get it, out of the installer.exe? Who knows Super Werelynx or the author? Thanks in advance.
Hi, Matuto! :)
Sorry to hear that the Exe isn't working for you. :/ If you have Winrar installed, you should be able to right click on the exe-file -- then choose "Extract here". This should move the hak-file(s) out of the exe-file.
Let me know if this solves your problem! :)
// Birger
Thanks Birger. Sometimes I play dumb. Of course, I can extract the specific file by opening the compressed with WinRar. Wow, let's go to the playing session. After finishing I will attribute my stars for both SH1 and 2 in the Vault. Again, sorry and many thanks.
No way. Inside the compressed rar there are only the installer.exe and the readme text. The sh2.hak.hak is only inside the installer.exe. Frustrated ...
So, open the rar with WinRAR or 7zip. Extract the .exe. Open the .exe as an archive using WinRAR or 7zip. Extract the hak and tlk.
The .exe contains yet another .exe which you can open as an archive in turn, but there's nothing useful in it.
matuto and Proleric,
I've added a Hak-pack file, which is adapted for manual installation, above under the "Files" header. Try this instead. :) Let me know how it goes!
That's fine, of course.
You might want to remove the .exe version. These days, NIT automates the installation, so there's no need for .exe files, which some will view as a security risk.
.
Hi Proleric and Birger. I didn't know that opening a non compressed file is possible using WinRar. Well, the hak Birger kindly uploaded worked. The mod has been loaded and I am already playing. Thanks a lot, guys.
Hi Birger and everybody. Many thanks for the hak out of the installer. Went ahead and finished this very good mod. So many effects and care. Certainly many hours of excellent work. Of course I faced some serious problems with the unkillable monsters and died a lot before receiving some enlightenement. The excess of monsters also annoyed because retards the progress. I counted the zombies near the castle, perhaps more than twenty. Why? There is a plot to follow. Why so much hack & slash? Just to stretch the mod's length? Without it perhaps the player finishes after one hour of gaming. But different from SH1, decent weapons are provided in due time. Well, some annoyances but a lot of fun. I expected a better ending, with the team together searching for new adventures. The PC flattered Juna so much for nothing ...Good job.
Glad to hear that you finished the series! :D Which ending did you get? There are seven different endings in this module, and some endings have better outcomes with Jina (and with Frogrin too) ;)
Regarding the zombies... yeah, I guess I could've halved the amount of zombies near the castle -- I just wanted to create a feeling of having to overcome a pretty big obstacle before reaching the castle (and the background music in this area is worth listening to for awhile). I think that's what I thought of when I designed this part. :)
Maybe you'd like to try out Calm before the Storm and it's sequel A New Journey Begins next? I made those too! :P
Thanks Birger. How sow? Different endings? I did by best agreeing all the time with Jina and Frogrin. Are there certain moments when the chosen option affects the ending? What have I miss? Thank you for mentioning the two other mods. Of course I will check them out. I really did appreciate the level of care and quality you and your team reached. Stay safe.
Thank you for you compliments :)
Yeah, there are a couple of key choices in the game that affect which ending (out of seven) that you get.
There's a .doc-document in the The Module itself, Read-me file and Walkthrough-download which contains the walkthrough:
* On page 16-18, you can read how to get each ending
* On page 18, you can read how many Relationship points you need to romance a character. :)
Glad to hear that you'd like to check out the other mods as well! ^_^ If you own NWN2, then I just re-released the only NWN2-module that I made called Berra's Estate of Horrors, which I also recommend that you check out. But be sure to do this one last, since it contains a lot of nods to my previous modules. ;)
Oh -- and maybe you'd like to check out my Halloween module for NWN1 called "Samhain's Eve". It is halloween soon, after all ;)
Oh, another thing -- if you choose to read about the endings in the walkthrough, just read the first sentences that tells you what the ending requires, the other sentences contains some spoilers. :)
