Streams Of Darkness: Drow............A house divided....A Matron Mother of immense power;A Renegade Priestess of Lloth, An ancient and powerful Evil unearthed; This becomes your reality when you awaken within the small town of Lucifer's Hallow after surviving a brutal Drow attack outside of the seemingly peacful community. Caught in the middle of a Brutal Dark Elven political upheaval your actions will decide the fate of Lucifer's Hallow and possibly re-shape the future of all Faerun. A Module set in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting Designed for player levels of 28-35 (depending on Class and equipment.) Tons of custom Items and creatures. Respawning Encounters. Repeatable side and main quest-lines. *** This module was originally intended to be the first of several 'Mini-Modules' I wanted to build several fun-high level modules with straight forward scripting and some nice roleplay elements. |

çould have been great, but when I got all three items, no dialogue change.
I picked this module as quite frankly there are so few high level module choices. The author chose not to allow voting on the old vault, so other than the previous comment above there is really not much to go on. I am glad I decided to run through it as I really enjoyed this module.
I played through with a 30th level F/R (15/15) with 1.69 and CEP 2.6. I did not find any game breaking bugs.
The module was actually quite well done. It is a mostly linear module. The story is not totally unique, though the author does have a nice twist on an old tale. The areas were all well done. I loved that they were all small and were not over run with endless monsters. I did not like the respawning monsters. It means you have to fight your way in and then fight your way back out with the same set. The author does clearly spell out in the description that they are present so I would not fault him for it, I am just not a fan.
I did run across at least one conversation that should not have been present, but in the authors defense that NPC's involvement in the story had already been over.
The battles were well balanced in this one. There were some a tad easy and some that were very challenging. All of the NPC's including the baddies were unique and designed well.
The authors use of custom content was exceptional, some of the armor and weapons were just flat cool.
***Spoiler***
One last thing, and this is where I stray way out of my comfort zone. Trixter's comment above got me to thinking about one of the comments made by Xandlus the first time you meet him. He gives you a quest to retrieve some items but cautions against taking more than one of each item. I peeked at the script and I think it does force you to grab only one of each item. My knowledge of scripting is worthless, so if someone ever gets the chance to open this mod in the tool set and take a look at Xandlus' finish script and let me know, if I am clueless (which is likely) I will edit this post so as not to confuse anyone.
I liked this module. It was a fun 2 night play. I would play it again. My thanks to Kelly Johns who clearly put a lot of work into this. Because I so enjoy modules like this I am voting a 9.
***Update and Spoiler***
Well I can now accurately say that you must only grab one of the items. I have begun the endeavor of building my own module. I have spent the last couple of months going through so much of the scripting tutorials and the toolset tutorials that I can answer my own question now, woohoo!!
This was a great module, plain and simple! All worked for me, I think. There was a cave at the upper end of the Ice Barrens that had no transition to it, but that may have been intentional. Monsters were good, areas well developed and I liked the story. Wizard was not so conversational, but he did acknowledge my three items! The respawn was not bad, with a few monsters showing up, but not like some I have recently played!
Two things that could have been done better: many, many unbashable chests. That is just frustrating for a solo fighter! And the Lore requirements for most of the sheer multitude of special items you pick up was a bit too high. Even with a Lore of 25 and Lore potion, I could not determine what many of the thngs were, until at a merchant. Since there is so much to carry, it was a bit of a burden, I would have to say.Literally and figuratively. I haad 4 Pouches and I was full up and dropping my weapons at times!
Still, all in all, I think it is one of the better efforts on this Vault! Thanks for a job well done, Kelly Johns!
