The people of Selendi are fighting a losing battle against an unknown enemy that is bent on wiping them out. This enemy is somehow opening portals in remote parts of the world and is using them to send through armies of vicious monsters that pillage and terrorize the countryside. Queen Wu Jan, Ruler of Soverign Great Platicus has sent you a message asking that you come to Selendi immediately. Will you answer her Call for Heroes?
This is the first adventure in a four part series.

Note #1: Restoring this series - almost lost by the community after over ten (10!) long years since excluding it from the old nwvault - was possible thanks to Werelynx, Dallo and... the Wayback Machine (web.archive.org).
Note #2: Perhaps there is someone, who has a more recent version of any of the modules (ACFH 1-4), if so - please send me a message or write about it in the 'Comments' section below, and we'll soon find a way to make an update.

Too many game crashes!
Please take into account that this is version of ACFH1 written under NWN 1.29 (or 1.28 - it's hard to determine the exact number) - i.e.: quite outdated one - and this might be a possible cause of such an ill behaviour when playing such an old module with NWN HoTU 1.69 (or even CPP 1.71), and perhaps with some custom content enabled.
As for the latter: you should at least make sure that content of your override folder is only 'certified by Bioware', i.e. clean from any custom additions (eg. Tony K's Henchman Inventory & Battle AI).
And gaming under NWN patched to 1.29 (no SoU / HotU) perhaps wiil be the only option left - if crashes still happen after restoring override folder to 'Bioware approved' state. Yes , I know - this solution 'sucks'. ;)
You can now download original English 1.29 Patch from ACFH1 project page.
This will be temporary 'a last resort' solution - as we're still trying to track and get a more recent versions of not only ACFH1, but also ACFH2 and ACFH3 modules (there should exist versions of these, that were built under NWN 1.61 at least) - see related forum topic: Almost lost in action: 'A Call For Heroes' - Hall of Fame series. Still there's a chance that someone has a more up-to-date versions of ACFH 1, 2 or 3, stored among his/her files and will share them with NWN community - in similar way as happened recently with Arandie v1.04 case.
When I played first part long time ago my computer crashed as well whenever I met those druids. Skipped that part and started next and all was fine :)
@ Werelynx:
An outdated scripting perhaps, or a bug in that particular version only - that was fixed in later revisions, hopefully. That's one of the main reasons why is so important to get the most recent stable version, if possible.
And btw... "long time ago" - might still means: "a long time after release of this version" (and: "many patches later...") in this case. ;)
@ Spuriad:
Perhaps this old discussion from a long dead ACFH forum will give you a hint about what elements can cause crashes in your particular case. You should make sure that your character is not 'too modern' or 'too well equipped', I guess. ;) Eg. maybe you have brought to the game a PC with some custom items in his inventory (or items which were added in later patches/expansions) and such an old module cannot withstand this?
This mod was seriously too easy for the suggested level range. We started as two level 12 characters. Got to 14/15 by the end of the mod. Unfortunately, it is quite easy to skip a lot of subplots and quests if you follow the path to the main city. The writing and areas were both good and it was interesting to see how the quests proceeded. 7/10
I think that you need male PCs for the story to make sense especially last part :|
I should lower my vote because it doesn't say that anywhere.
Also, I've got versions of the modules which aren't from here or IIRC the old vault; I vaguely remember reading something about the author not wanting them hosted there for some reason or other and looking for them elsewhere.
Is there a way to tell which are newer?
(Edit: My file is bigger, but it's probably older: I've found an old backup DVD containing the entire series and all its dependencies and the mod file for part #1 has a timestamp from November 2002)
