Very big and fun module, even more it feels like a whole new rpg on aurora engine. Nice roleplay with lots of possibilites and endings too. Totally worth playing.
Sooo... Where can I find all the files separated? Cause here are only .exe files, that don't work with my computer( Perhaps they somehow can't recognise the folder... So is there any way to get the files separated?
unpack .exe with winrar or 7zip
Wow! So lame of me...
Thanks for the tip!
I really liked this mod: there are multiple endings and choices, highly recommended.
Deities to choose: try Eryn for good characters, Odam for evil.
Bug Report:
- typos: "thier" - Tyrina; "ceatures" - great tome in the sisters of mist library
- respawning encounters are bad in 95% percent of cases if not on PW
- early start is little clichee
- higwaymen quest: you may kill them before receiving quest to get rid of them and receive journal entry mentioning getting the quest
- if you try to renegotiate your deal in loban shield quest, even if you succeed in persuade check and Loban says he will give you estate and gold, you only get gold and don't get the key and deeds
- Dark Araina(henchman) has a crossbow but instead of bolts dhe has got arrows in her starting eq.
- Dark Araina sometimes has problem with helping me in the fight especially when I initiate stealth mode, she won't attack when I do
- some backtracking
- Loban's daughter quest is broken: after having learned about his daughter from blackmarket merchant mayor acts as we already talked about it
- you can destroy runestone of enchancement in the well of void
- in rock cave encounters spawn in behind you
- there are not enough bags of holding
- apparitions: where are they? Found only 2, captured only 1
- Faulden(blackmarket guy) offers information that is no use to me(like after killing the thieves he advises me how to get to them) or repeats himself(loban's daughter for example)
- managerie was way too much into the module, didn't finish it because of this, maybe you should find some message about it and have special "jars" or other containers for capturing those creatures. Also if the gnome would be more specific on what kind of creatures he wants.
apparitions: unless you played an older version (the readme mentions an update so that apparitions appear more often and longer), there's a hint from the barbarians which you can ask (after you got the wand), saying they appear mostly at night and in open areas. Starting at 6 p.m., i had my wand full at 1 a.m.
[edit] the menagerie: wasn't sure i got it right in your post... i finished it and you can get almost any type including guards, so almost any hostile except bosses; you just have to release each to one of his cells; sometimes helpful, so i captured the "boss" from one of these shrines (german: grauer Reißer) since i was ready for a rest, escaped into that cave and was unable to fight him.
and p.s.: wasn't there an option to rate the module ? Or did i already in a former post
I have to ask, does this module have full romance with endings and all or is it that you can simply sleep with characters?
One of my all-time favorite modules for NWN. Varied settings, combat encounters, etc. Fun, funny little touches like the women screaming and fleeing in the women's public baths if you bring your male dwarf henceman along. The mod author was very prompt and helpful when I encountered a problem and contacted him through email. 10/10.
Still one of my favourites!
I have just finished this module with a wizard(9)/rogue(2)/monk(2) (due to emphasis on discovering secret areas/items in this module, an elf with auto-serch ability and a few levels in rogue class are highly recommended if you want to enjoy it to the fullest). Well, this module is a forgotten gem! Although the main story is a standard one, the sidequests, custom items, many endings possible as well as a possibility to play both evil & good charadcters make it cool. There are also a few pieces of custom music, interlude animations and a nice system of engraining runes into items that add the spice. The areas are designed properly, although more custom content could be utilized.
This module deserves 9/10, it is well thought and enjoyable, although it is hard to solve all quests/find all secrets without "readme" file (btw, nice work with writing it!). In my top 15 NWN modules.
Now some things that could be corrected:
9.0 In the TOP, played second time with Wizard/Red Wizard of Thay... 1st time was from the "good old vault times".
PROS:
+Semi-sandbox style (you can go anywhere, but some places have "soft" plot limitations)
+Many easy-medium puzzles (almost all puzzles are intuitively understandable if you are not very dumb, without "hard Walkthrough reading")
+Multiply endings (some of them not just "choose your ending in the edning", but based at your decisions)
+Rune-crafting system (cool system, I like it)
+Economical balance (suddenly no gold overflowing, can buy some good items in shop)
+Custom items&placeables with interesting abilities (cursed items too! yikes)
+Secrets and appropriate rewards
+Good variety of henchmans and some romance options
+Multiply roleplaing good/bad choices and their consequences
+Teleport system, portal stones and personal house
+Some quests are very original (for ex the one with monster hunting for circus)
CONS:
-Poor development of a relationship with henchman (low frequency of banters and their diversity bute some personal story progress)
-Plot is dull
-Pretty easy battles and no interesting enemies (mb last boss)
MINOR:
no custom portraits
PRC-unfriendly - some problems with mixing prc scrips, so I just removed them with no visible harm)
rediscovered this module and got me playing and replaying this module over and over these days. Every time discovering something new and i am surprised how balanced it is. First i tried skilled chars (esp. search ones) and now i see i may play any combination due to the hints in the game. it is really fun and a great lowlevel module. Very innovative and nice going, no real dead ends, i am impressed
sometimes after resurrecting or healing a henchman is no more able to talk to so i had to leave two of them back; probably because they offer the dialog option to follow, and when this is unterrupted by some attacking enemies; i could only help myself by attacking them and using the mirror
some minor things i found though, i.e. playing an elf should be able to understand elven w/o a translation amulet (but i am no sage- they are wild elves after all)
totally worth playing and replaying
Only discovered this module recently and wow, it is excellent! Tons of interesting areas, quests, secrets and NPCs! Story is not that spectacular but is good enough to provide enough incentive to continue playing.
I ran through as a Barbarian/Rogue/Shadowdancer multiclass and most of the time it was smooth sailing, except the rather rough start and the final part of the module. The economy in this module is also surprisingly balanced, there will be very few if no times where players will suddenly have spikes in gold amount, players must properly manage their spending if they wish to purchase powerful items.
However, one aspect that this module does not do so well is the Henchmen. Although they do have their own personailities and minor questlines, they lack character development, to the point where I'd rather keep their quest items for my personal use. Also, I found myself taking the Fighter henchmen mostly, only switching to check out other henchmen class and abiltiies, since he is the most reliable of them all.
Another thing I would like to add is that there is quite an amount of backtracking. A certain puzzle in the module comes to mind... I felt quite irritated at times, and there is even respawnable encouters (though I can see the reason for it).
All in all, I had a blast playing this and all NWN lovers should definitely give this a go!
I rediscovered this mod, but, after ages of searching, found a dog had died on the dead soldier, so had completely missed him. And now puzzles, tried loads of ways but zzZZzz oh well, on to another mod.
Still one of my favourite mods of all time. Replaying as a druid with some summons to help, and appears the number of enemise increases as well. Also have discovered for the firs time that after u gave an amulet of evil (not typical, it is something similar) to henchman with previously good alignment, it changes him to evil and after asking about their goal we receive a different answer this time. So clever. But yeah, those puzzles and backtracking can be a pain in the butt.
An excellent overall module in spite of some imperfections.
PROS: Nice storyline, interesting world building and lore, a lot of side quests and many roleplaying options. Puzzles are solvable without reading the walktrough. No major bug to report.
CONS: Lot of backtracking (2-way teleport system is basically useless), respawn rate in some area is too high. Little to none companions' dialogues. "Romances" are a joke: you can basically ask your companion to sleep with you as soon you hire him/her and you get a stat bonus. You can do it any time you want.
Hmmm, how to install it on NWN Enhanced Edition? The installer does not find my registry and it cannot unpack the files.
Unzip the files .exe with 7zip and then copy manually the files in the appropriate folders.
The exe does not install to the EE directory. Nor do they inform you or give a choice of what directory they will or do install.
if you have a 1.69 version of the game installed the exe will install the files to that directory.
If you only have EE installed then I have no clue where the exe installs. Try running the exe twice to find the pathname of the files it will then attempt to overwrote.
I had to copy/paste from my 1.69 Diamond install located in the Program Files x86... GOG directory.
One of the very best modules out there. Only just discovered it though.
It is certainly easier with some classes than others.
Only issue is the Menagerie, which I never bothered with. Otherwise excellent adventure.
Very enjoyable module, many outcomes and excellent adventueres, great design.
I liked it for the most part, but stripping and way too many puzzles just doomed it. And the long treks from one end of the world to the other really bug me! May be just the thing for some gamers but not me.
what am i supposed to do with the exe files? ive extracted the zip but all theyre listed as are applications, even when i extracted them to files they where supposed t\o be in nothing happens. can someone emplain properly please?
Looks like what you have here is archive-within-archive. Once you've extracted the .exe, open it with 7z or RAR, then extract its contents (like Werelynx said, above).
My guess is that these were originally self-extracting .exe archives, whuch were popular in more innocent times. Now we know that no one should ever click on a .exe file unless it's from a highly trusted source. Some people are wary of even downloading a .exe, which might be why they're now wrapped in an outer archive. Hiwever, opening a .exe archive using one of the above-mentioned tools is completely safe.
Thank you mate. works now
i can't defeat stone guardian in cript, stone golem can't die what i am missing?
Bludgeoning? Just guessing...
to answer my qusetion, you can't defeat him, you must die, why i am anwering my own questions?
how to romance Araina?
she says "if you show me that were completely devoted to me..."
what i must do?
Which favored enemy feat would be the best choice for this module?
@ Evitar: you may be male, lawful, not sure if good or you may be neutral (at least not evil) and don't cheat on her (well only once) - you also can hand her the dark amulet what turns her into not minding at all; but you asked for romance so you probably want to play her paladin
@ mhroczyn: you get pretty much of everything - i personally would choose humans; mind you that your maximum level will be probably 14
Really enjoyed this. Lots to do. Good story. Conversations were interesting and reading materials were excellent. Unique scripting added flair to the module. Highly recommend this!
A very good and balanced module. Only one henchman can be added and there are not very powerful magic items to collect (though the runes "system" is nice). My rogue/shadowdancer character ended up at 13th level
I recommend it.
