Welcome to Gourmont, home of the Northern Province Culinary Competition, once a year host to some of the realm's greatest chefs. And after they depart, they leave behind them some of the tastiest dishes ever created. But something tastes funny in Gourmont. Beneath the town's sugary coating lies simmering bitter rivalries, sour feelings, and spicy conspiracies. Will you be thrown into the boiling pot of intrigue? Or will you solve the mystery at the bottom of the bowl? Features include a town populated by quirky NPC's, four unique henchmen that interact with other NPC's and provide help in quests, multiple quest endings and plot directions based on role-playing choices, several surprising custom creatures, and challenging puzzles. Warning: Includes dark humor and themes of cannibalism, addiction, and moral ambiguity. Not for children. The player should also have a moderate tolerance for kitchen puns. |

This module was an extremely delicious one. Not only does it have a flavourful story, it does very well on all other aspects, such as quests, characters, henchmen, level and area design. Deserves way more attention than it gets.
I might have made it harder than it should be for myself by playing a Zen Archer Monk/Cleric from level 1-6 due to poor damage output, but luckily henchmen can make up for it, provided you can buff their AC to reasonable levels. Unfortunately, henchmen inventory cannot be accessed and their loadouts aren't exactly ideal for near-end game levels. That being said, each of them has a unique personaility, has a believable reason for helping and even can assist in solving quests.
Also want to add that the economy is quite balanced, I found myself having to manage my gold with care, since loot is more of the low-magic type, more of basic items, gems rather than magic items. One annoyance is the lack of an affordable potion of lore for characters who do not invest in lore skill, no merchants sale them except in the inn, which costs a whooping 500 gold. Knowing this I would've brought in a Ring of Insight with a Identity spell so that I wouldn't need to keep paying 100 gold to identity anything.
All in all, its a fun, innovative (food theme), unique and humorous low-level module and everyone should give it a try if they don't mind the theme of food and cooking.
