This is the most recent version of Raine's World of Greyhawk module for single-player. This version requires cep 2.65. In addition, the cep_custom.hak is required which is attached as a separate file. It will need to be extracted and placed in hak folder. Additionally, the WoG overrides for Poisons and a Better Craft Magic System are also included sepately. Although it's not required, it does enhance game play. Place in your Override folder. We are posting this to allow people to playtest single player with the new Enhanced Edition that is to be released. Please report bugs accordingly.https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/worldofgreyhawkfr/index.php
The Greyhawk Wars -- War's End
... for two long years (582 to 584 CY), the nations of the Flanaess had schemed, murdered, and warred against each other until nearly all sides lay bloodied and beaten: war had exhausted the land and the people. Furyondy and Iuz ground to a stalemate; Nyrond's vast coffers were drained dry and its overtaxed peasants were rebellious; the Great Kingdom was shattered into a swarm of petty landholdings vying for power; Keoland fought invasion on all sides; countless men, dwarves, elves, and orcs marched off to war, never to return; farms stood empty; fields lay fallow. . . .
The Flanaess could make war no longer.
Proposals for a peace conference met with greater and greater acceptance. The puppets of the Scarlet Brotherhood, taking orders from the Father of Obedience, issued a call for a grand truce: every nation would cease hostilities and put its own house in order.
In the end, through negotiation, intimidation, and even assassination, the Brotherhood's proposal found acceptance. The City of Greyhawk, untouched by the war, became the site of the conference. In the month of Harvester, the Great Council (as it came to be known) convened.
The proposed truce, though simple in theory, proved an enormous undertaking, what with the countless ambassadors present. In the six months of the Great Council, intrigues abounded as each side attempted to gain the upper hand. The conference nearly collapsed more than once when ambassadors took umbrage over some real or imagined slight.
The final act of the immense drama of war occurred on the Day of the Great Signing. A pact had been resolved and nearly all the nations had agreed to sign it. As this solemn ceremony got underway, however, a tumultuous event occurred.
Even today a haze obscures the details: apparently someone plotted to annihilate the entire diplomatic corps in attendance, but the scheme misfired. A blazing explosion destroyed a good part of the Grand Hall only minutes before the ambassadors assembled for the day. A fierce magical battle immediately ensued, spreading havoc through much of the old city. When the fire and dust cleared, constables discovered smoldering robes belonging to two powerful members of the mysterious Circle of Eight--Otiluke and Tenser. The murderer of these wizards, undeniably a powerful mage, was discovered to be a third member of the Circle of Eight--Rary. Using secrets gained in confidence, Rary not only vaporized his two fellows but also tracked down and destroyed every clone the pair held in preparation.
The motive behind Rary's treachery remains clouded. According to many who knew him, the wizard probably saw an opportunity to seize power and land in the confusion that would follow the assassinations. Others suggest Rary was a pawn of the Scarlet Brotherhood.
With the plot discovered, though, Rary and his co-conspirator Lord Robilar fled the city. Unable to return to Robilar's castle, which was immediately seized by the troops of Greyhawk, the pair escaped into the Bright Desert. There they conquered the savages and established a kingdom of their own. Though small and mysterious, this growing state could someday threaten the very borders of Greyhawk.
Fearing further disruptions, the delegates hurriedly signed the Pact of Greyhawk, and so the wide-ranging war of the Flanaess came to an end, and gained the misleading title, the Greyhawk Wars.
The year is now 585, and a winter looms looms on the horizon. The Shield Lands lie in ruins. Critwall is an island surrounded by the forces of Iuz. Furyondy is stretched to the brink as they seek to check the advance of Iuz. To the south, an Empire stands where none has stood-- The Pomarj. Under the leadership of Turrosh Mak, they have carved a kingdom from the Wild Coast, the Suss Forest, the Principality of Ulek, and have seized control of the trade and commerce of the Woolly Bay. Few if any have escaped the last two years of calamity for the war has touched all. This is the world in which your hero lives-- a world filled with treachery, war, suspicion, intrigue and fear. This is the world of Greyhawk.
The above was taken from David "Zeb" Cook and Roger E Moore's Official History of the Greyhawk Wars. This is the stage that your character is thrust upon. These are the times that you are in. In addition to the above, the following are independent adventures within Greyhawk that you may seek... at your own peril (note, the following is just a guideline and is in no definitive:

Can't wait to check this out! I'm so happy WoG solo has been updated!
Strange, it worked for me.
Does it have any story? Any nice quests? I never played online on this server so i have no idea. Is it anything like OC (story driven) or it will mostly feel empty without other players?
While everything seems to be working, everytime I load my save it strips me of all items and gold and give me that 1000g as if I just began the game in that transporter room. I had played for hours, it was frustranting as hell.
Anyone can help me sorting this out so it stops removing my items and gold everytime I load my save? It would be awesome.
Thanks!
EDIT: Actually, I leveled to 3 and the problem stopped. Weird.
Fallander69: It does have quite a few nice quests, and the quests have stories. No over all main story though. Hard to say if it will feel empty to you, it's a solo mod so has no folks you can add to your party like OC. It has never felt empty to me.
Nicely done! I managed to go through the temple despite of the many many unusual respawns. I'm stuck in the nexus of the elementary planes though. Got all Gems. The Orb is missing. Is there a way back to the temple?
Thanks!
P.s.: Some of the quests in Hommlet don't work, can't say why ("error").
Did you managed to do the moathouse quest in Hommlet for the druid or the priest?
For the druid. The priest did seem to give the quest too though. The reward was given by the druid and later on the priest approved as if the quest was given by him...without sharing any xp or gold of course.
Actually, I managed to do it. I had quite a surprise on how to proceed. The module have a lot of little details and I'm loving it.
.
Updated version loaded: fixed world clock issue, and addressed quest-breaking feature in Cult of the Dragon adventure series, fixed some sea-based peril, and Abbor Alz has slight restructure.
For those posting questions about things not working. More than likely that's a user-end issue which I'm not sure how to address. All of these things work live for the online server with 15 people on it.... so, not sure if I could be of much help. Often there can be conflicts (like overrides), or there could be a corrupted install or download, or a bad cep version, or maybe you don't have the cep_custom_hak in the right directory, it could be a cpu thing, or cpu affinity, or lack of ram ..... there's a lot that could go wrong along the way.
You may download this version again and start from scratch. Just make sure to place things in their proper folders.
I had some problems but a lot was my fault, either some other content I had installed or some little detail that had slipped my attention. I'm loving these little details. Thanks for sharing this.
How does one get to the giants series?
Updated to 2.65. Many changes, improvements, and enhancements. For the live version click here
I have now added new versions of the 1.69 version with some bug fixes and an Enhanced Edition version. Note, one must have the Enhanced Edition in order to play the EE version. Hak remains consistent across versions. Unless there's some game-breaking bug is found, this will be the last update for some time as we focus our efforts on the live content. Thank you, Vault Community and your continued support of all things NWN.
Tried this module with a few builds and I love it!
Thank you DM Wise for sharing with us and having updated this gem! :)
You never dirtnap'd so good
Greetings, all!
On NWN:EE, I want to use this with CEP 2.65 and [url=https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/original-hakpak/player-... 3.7.5[/url]. How to make this work?
Thankee!
Alas you can't do that with the CEP. For a module to work with the CEP, the module has to have been built with it. You could do something similar with Project Q however. Look at this thread over on the BeamDog forums where it tells you how to do that.
TR
Erm, this module uses CEP 2.65 already, so I think what he wants is to use the PRC with it, unless I'm mistaken.
Ok
I can only seem to get the portals for Greyhawk city and Borderkeep to work...anyone else know of a possible solution, etc. ?
thanks !!
any plans to look into and/or address the non-working Portals in the starter area ? looks like I wasn't the only one experiencing this issue ?
The portals always work for me.
Are you sure that the "custom hak" file downloadable from this page has overwritten the (empty) same file that is included in CEP?
That is:
1) paste all cep hak files in hak folder;
2) paste the custom hak and overwrite the file.
thanks for the reply !! I would have to go back and review exactly what I did, as I downloaded the MOD a few weeks back. I can say, that I have NWN EE, on Steam and I did Subscribe to CEP on Steam. Not sure if that is maybe causing any conflict or issues ? I do assume I downloaded everything and installed in the appropriate folders, so maybe the issue is a conflct of having CEP from Steam...Also, its odd, some of the Portals work fine.
I will revisit it this weekend when I have some free time and post results here !!
Thanks to your help Aquarius 233, I was able to get this sorted !! I had originally placed the CEP hak, into the regular HAK folder. Guess it wasnt clear to me, it needed go into CEP folder and not just the regular HAK foilder. I have Steam, so CEP is downloaded from the Steam Workshop and I replaced the 2019 version of this CEP HAK with the older 2018 version from this MOD...and that resolved it.
I appreciate the help !!
Glad that you have solved your issue ;)
If you like the module a lot, you can think about joining the server, the required projects are saved here in the page "world of greyhawk, PW Mithral Ediion".
Have fun!
Portal to Hommlet isn't working
The other portals works fine, i ve checked.
Have all the haks and overrides too.
I play on EE.
And i used the "cep2_custom.hak" from this site to override the existing one in hak folder.
Aaaand i'm using CEP 2.65 from the vault, not steam workshop.
I just started Homlett, but when I talk to Canon in the Cuthbert church I suddenly have a journal entry about a poem and a quest to the Moathouse, but it's just my first day and this is the first I've heard anything about what it going on...
Steps to repro: 1. Start module 2. Enter Homlett 3. Go to Cuthbert church and talk to Canon.
***Beautiful*** area design!
My warhorse will no longer let me mount him? any tips to fix this problem are appreciated.
Update: I'm not sure but i think what broke the script was adding a +1 Charisma Cloak, I tried taking it off but it still will not allow me to mount any longer. I even tried buy a new 200gp horse but the mount script still does nothing. It was a Warhorse that i was riding when the script stopped working after i dismounted went in and bought boot +1 Con and a Cloak +1 Charisma.
****Not using EE****
Any tips on what i can do to fix this is appreciated.
Update: I was told it's a known bug issue with familiar or summon creatures being out (used) and All that was Needed to be able to mount my Horse again was to Rest and turns out that was what is was.
Also had 3 Blank Error Logs thus far (About 7 levels into the Mod)
1. Old Hill Dwarf.
2. Elmo.
3. Cuthbert.
Also had 1 person in an Inn that i tried to talk to respond with an Error message that said "If you are seeing this message then an Error has occured and to please inform the builder".
Kind of tough with rest cycles being 8 hours inbetween and the map areas being so huge having to walk the horse around till you can rest again kind of tough but the module itself is very close to The original GreyHawk world and for this reason it's still a winner in my Book.
Great Job
Lee
Having the same problem with the portals to Homlett and Ruskin not working. I redownloaded the file cep2_custom.hak and copied it over the file in my hak folder and still doesn't work. Did not see any CEP folder. Any help would be appreciated.
You'll need to open the module in the toolset and Compile all scripts. Once done, save, close, and reload a game.
Edit: But it occurred to me that's not the issue. Hommlet and Ruskis were designed for new characters. There's a cap a level cap for entering those areas, so if you're over, say, 5th level, you won't be able to get there via portal. All that said, that is the old 1.69 version and there's bound to be issues since I stopped supporting it a few years ago.
Thanks for the quick reply DM Wise. That may have been it. I think my character was 5th level. I've since logged onto the server version and created a character and am enjoying it a lot although I had an error this afternoon where my character got stuck btwn a wall and a table in the bottom level of the Malevolent Pike and couldn't move free. I'm hoping when i log back in the pirates will have respawned and can kill him so i can respawn and be free.
I've been checking out the forums. Appreciate the amazing work you and the other DMs are doing!!
NWN Gog Diamond Edition 1.69.
I got constant crashes on *saving*, which is particularly nasty. Like, play for a few hours only to lose entire progress. Nothing in the logs, just crash, black screen and a famous "sending blabla to Micro$oft". Playing Borderlands area around kobolds cave.
Any help appreciated.
Ok, checked few more times.
Game can crash on the first save attempt after starting NWN and loading an existing game, making this mod virtually unplayable in single player. Just FYI for anyone interested.
And one more thing, each Greyhawk save is more than 200MB, which may be connected to crashes
Hi, will this module be updated with the content that is in the online version? Description between two versions seems vary a little. Great work!
Been a while since any updates to this...shame, as it is a real good, fun solo-stomping grounds, in a great setting.
hi, is it just me or is this impossible to play solo? i was in hommlet and the moathouse and was getting my clock cleaned by brigands. i eventually quit at level 4 because it was too hard.
I played through the Pirate adventure solo, some of it was easy, some of it was pretty tough, but I finished it all solo...Im heading over to Borderkeep next. I assume it will be more of the same, challenging, but doable.
Hi
I am new to this server and I am stuck in Saltmarsh when I want ot be in Homlet. How do I get to Homlet? How do I get back to server entry area?
your comment is for the single player - offline version of WoG. There is no Saltmarsh for this version. I think you are looking for the PW version of this for NWN EE.
Really cool mod, that has some bugs. Easy 9/10 rating, but it is just is in need of some attention...having said that, it is worth playing especially if you like classic D&D material!
