It started off as a perfectly ordinary day -- until you were magically yanked away to appear before a mage named Eldrath, victim of a summoning spell gone awry. While he searches for a safe way to send you back, you've agreed to clear out "pests" in his basement in exchange for artifacts and riches. But what qualifies as a pest to an archmage may be a bit more lethal to you...
What lurks within the depths of a mage's basement? What treasure and glory can be found? There's only one way to find out...
-------------------------------------------------------
A Peremptory Summons is focused mostly on combat -- in particular, combat where you'll need to think about the correct action in many fights. Brainlessly just auto-attacking the closest monster will get you killed...repeatedly. Play intelligently and you can make it through without dying.
This is a short module developed in about a month. You should expect it to take about 90 minutes to 2 hours to play through the first time.
-------------------------------------------------------
This module is meant for a level 1 character who is a warrior type -- strength based with the ability to wear at least medium armor. The following starting stats are highly recommended (and playing a gnome or halfling is not recommended).
Class: Barbarian/Fighter/Paladin/Ranger
Strength: 16+
Dexterity: 12+ with Heavy Armor Proficiency, 14+ otherwise for Medium Armor
Constitution: 14+
Mechanical Modifications:
- Magic weapons gain damage proportional to their size.
- Dual-wielders gain 2 AB per while actually dual-wielding.
- There is no penalty for using a non-light weapon in the off-hand (meaning a human could dual-wield two longswords, for example).
- Characters with at least half their levels as Ranger get Ambidexterity/Two Weapon Fighting for free and thus can dual-wield in any armor type.
- Double weapons (two-bladed sword, double axe, and dire mace) give 1 extra AC.

Happy to see this work finaly released... The module was great fun when i played it in a early version.
Happy you enjoyed it!
I actually haven't even touched it whatsoever since last October -- I was frustrated with some of the stuff going on surrounding it at the time and planned to not bother releasing it. Lilura managed to convince me with an eloquent argument a few days ago.
This was amusing and fun, I just played it through in one sitting (two hours). For what it sets out to do, I give full marks.
Glad you liked it. And yeah, obviously it's a very specific type of module in one than one way.
I really enjoyed this module! Although the story was quite simple, the fights were fun... especially the boss fights. Even though the conversations were brief, they were written well. If you decide to continue on with a "part two", I recommend that you write some more dialogue between characters since you are very good at it (with hack and slash theme taken into consideration).
Thanks! If you liked the boss fights (especially the final boss) you might want to check out Siege of the Heavens. It does have even less conversation (sorry!) and no collecting/enchanting bits but it's a max level adventure for *all* classes with five involved boss fights. It's technically also only half done, there's another five fights in the works (some of which are already finished) -- but you'll be able to pick up at the halfway point again with a character that did the first half.
I have replayed APS twice, most recently as a dual-wielder and I found it more difficult despite the enchants going on both weapons. I guess I should have been at least half Ranger for the free feats!
Death should be made more punishing somehow... maybe make the player wait longer when they respawn, or something.
It would be nice to see this module completed and more enemy variety added, but as-is APS supplies a few hours of genuine tactics & fun. Sometimes the acid VFX isn't visible for me on the weapon itself, but that could be a problem at my end, not sure. I use Project Q patch hak & ACP, here's a pic.
I think you're not needed if you're powergamed.
It was an interesting idea for a mod: very different than everything else I've played. I didn't finish it- I got bored of dying about half way through (the area with the wolves to be precise) but I think some players will find the mod to be quite good, if they like a lot of challenge.
