Description | |
The Original RoME - Return of Middle Earth Persistent world, by Dey, Pawndream, and Owl_X. Requires server and NWNX to run properly, but probably not bad for local adventures among a few local users. Good example of a very large persistent world. Contains areas from Bree to Mordor. Set rather late in the War of the Ring, some northern areas may be redacted a bit. Set in a D&D Parody of Middle Earth. |

Spent a lot of time there, as Falin Ironpants... Great Fun!
I've installed this and got it running, but have noted some odd problems, such as not being able to return from the Hall of Waiting - produces an error regarding an unbound spawn point when a player tries to return to a safe spawn location. Are there any instructions on how to configured NWNX for the this server, any plugins required?
Edit:
After much experimentation, I can say that this does indeed required NWNX (version NWNX2 for NWN1) and a database to be installed. Specifically it requires MySQL because some of the commands will not work with SQLi. The version of MySQL must be fairly old. I used v5.5.0 of the community edition. NWNX must also be installed with the ODBC plugin, with the connector ini deconfigured for SQLi and enabled for MySQL instead. Now my friends and I are happily playing on an AWS server and respawning in the correct place.
Edit 2: Note that with this configuration, the player journal does not seem to work. Any advice appreciated.
I was running into the same issue- your edit was really helpful. Thank you!
I have been playing on this server for at least 3 years as Caderly or Lebriel back when it was run by its owner Owl_X and simply put, best server I played on. At times the server was full and you had to wait to get in so popular it was. With the Enhanced Edition that just came out, I'd play on this server again if it was up and running.
I would love to play this again as well! I posted on reddit when the EE came out asking about any fellow RoMEians out there but nobody came fourth from this server :( ha. I played as Elithrin Daner primarily. I was (if i recall) one of the top crafters and reached low 20's by the end of my time there. It was so long ago but your characters sound super familiar. Some of the characters I played with are inspiriation to this day as legendary characters in my DND campaigns lol. Some names come to mind- Jon Amerheln, Imrin Neren, Lady Elsa Silverheart, Vind, Lol. Happy playing to you!
I originally commented on some bug that wasn't produced by the module.
I have addressed the problem, the PW works perfectly fine!! Extremely accurate areas and layout according to the Middle-Earth heritage
