We worked really hard on this module for over a year, and decided not to hog it but to share it for everyone!!! From the Info download file: *** Farcrown Arena by Thaladar9 and Dark Enma upload version: Friday, May 16, 2008 You have downloaded Farcrown Arena, an amazing-multiplayer-PvP-Capture-the-Flag-persistent-balanced-excellent-arena- module :D There are two teams: Shining Knights (color themed blue and gold) and Darklion (red and black), but the names and colors don't mean anything- alignment or class doesn't matter regarding your placement in a team. The game places incoming players into the team that has less players (or random if the teams are equal). The two teams of Farcrown Arena fight in places called "arenas"- places of epic legend and mighty combat. Currently there are 23 arenas, though you can make more! The overall goal is to capture the enemy team's flag and bring it back to your base (or sometimes other places). This gives your team 15 points as well as giving you 10 Emeralds and 10 Tally. Emeralds are gems that can be traded for gold or XP, wherever you choose to spend your Emeralds (via Treasure Chests and XP Chests, which can be found at Haleos Isle, your base, as well as shops & guilds in Fardenfall, the city). Tally is less meaningful than Emeralds, it's more of a personal record of the total number of Emeralds you have been awarded. Killing players of the other team can win you Team Points, Emeralds and Tally as well. The amount of good stuff you get depends on the relation between you and the other player's levels. You can actually lose Emeralds if the other player is too many levels lower than you (an item can be used to scout non-attackable players nearby). The amount of Team Points won by killing is only 1 if the person's level is close to you, 0 otherwise. However you can get 2 Team Points for your team regardless of the victim's level if they are carrying the flag- then they are free game for everyone. Dying doesn't cost a thing- your body just lays there for about 10 seconds, then you have the option of typing in the destination that you'd like to go- "base", "haleos" or "fardenfall" (the city). There are some other options too, if you belong to certain guilds (most guilds are reachable from Fardenfall- the Thieves Guild is one of the hardest to get into, as you have to choose the right dialog options from the Thief that appears and tries to pickpocket you sometimes in the Creep Inn). Once you pick a destination, you are teleported there alive and well. If you don't enter your destination in time, your chance is up and you have to wait for resurrection (or the end of the round)! Dun dun dun! If you are holding the flag and you die, the flag is dropped where you died and auto-returns itself after a while, or instantly returns itself if a player from its team clicks it. But before that happens, another player can pick up the flag and continue the quest of the player that died. There are lots of other features (we have everything covered: pickpocketing restrictions, disarm giveback, a special trap system, magic & spells, potions, guilds, weapon imbuing, temples, monestaries, items for all classes, betting games, flagless arenas, HiPS restrictor, noob stores, noob help, help signs, temporary uberinvisibility upon arena arrival, lots of items and armor, and more), but you'll find out as you play/DM/host, I think you get the gist of it :D If you have any technical questions about the rules or game mechanics, just ask Oh yeah, players start with 10,000 XP (level 5), and with 17,500 gp. If you are hosting the module and want to change any of these, check out lines 108 and 110 of the script "entergame". There are many possible "exploits" and "loopholes" we thought of- obvious ones such as taking the flag out of the area, as well as complicated, tiny, random possible ones that nobody would think of- and we went through great lengths to prevent them and make none of these loopholes possible while at the same time not affecting the fun gameplay in any way. But if we missed any loopholes, or if your players have discovered a new exploit or something, put a helpful comment here on the Vault page and I'll see what I can do. Tips for DMs: Do not drop armor, helmets, flags or cloaks on the ground or give them to players- this is very very very important, and if a player gets any of these items not the normal way, it could potentially upset the balance of the game severely. Just so you know. Also there a couple DM widgets and items that are given you to you when you enter the game. There's a DM-only area, too. Another thing: in the conversation for the Farcrown News Sign (I think I called it "sign"), route 10 is Server Rules- these are rules we made if we were hosting it ourselves, which we aren't anymore, so you can feel free to change them if you want to, though most of the rules are what we see as generally good server rules for Farcrown Arena :D Warning: This is a warning if you start messing with scripts- many of the scripts I write are sort of interconnected and depend on each other. It's not my fault if you start messing around with scripts and f*** things up on the module, lol :D But if you are interested in editing a property of the game, tell me and I can definitely help you out! Please: * give credit to us, the creators of Farcrown Arena! We spent a lot of hard work on this! If you find any bugs or anything, please don't be a d*** about it, but I'm glad to help you out or answer any questions you might have. For example, don't edit the entry message where it says that this is Farcrown Arena and it is created by Thaladar9 and Dark Enma, etc. And don't change the name of the game (the name is written a lot in convos and scripts and stuff, so that'd be kinda hard, but still!) * if you host Farcrown Arena, stress to your players to HAVE FUN! That's what games are for :D Though it comes down to you, being your server, I would recommend having rules such as no griefing and no revenge kills and stuff like that. Make sure it's fun for everyone! * if you want to learn how to make your own arenas or allow players to send in arenas, download the Tutorial that's also on this Vault page!!! * questions/comments/suggestions -> don't hesitate to ask! * and please remember to vote! * oh and tell me if you're hosting it and I'll check out your sever! :D |
