This module has an issue where you have to find three items to reforge into a key. But the conversations and journal entries never update to allow such a thing to happen once you do find the 3 items.
I had to jump in as a DM to give our group the key in order to bypass the error and "complete" the module.
Same thing happened to me, no way to progress after searching the barrowdowns several times. Found three itmes that might be the ones needed, (no clue as to this!). No conversation with anybody, although the young drunk priest has something to say about the blacksmith, which gave me hope that I might have the key (to the key!), but No...Frustrating, as I want to kill the baddie.
I found the issue by looking through the conversation scripts. When talking with Trennie, he is supposed to give you a dagger at one point. A spelling error in the item name prevents you from receiving this dagger, which is needed to further the plot with the smithy. Specifically, Trennie tries to give you the item "it_tranniedagger", which doesn't exist. The item should have been spelled "it_trenniedagger".
I was able to use the console commands to spawn the dagger, pick it up, and continue on to see the smithy and get the key made.
i am not at all versed in using the toolset, but i corrected the spelling error in the script, and it recompiled, and I saved module. I am not sure if this will fix issue for the next time I play this mod ?
p.s. Huge thank you to Lilura and her wonderful list of modules, that pointed me towards so many good mods to try ! ... so many worlds, so little time ...
This will probably fix the bug, sometimes it is that easy.
