You can avoid the item strip but the tactical battle lead was hard to trigger, and wasn't something that intrigued me.
Not sure how to avoid the item strip as it happens pretty fast! You are given some okay items in place of your excellent custom stuff, but it is pretty minimal with all the mob sequences that just appear all around you, all the time! You are given many soldiers, bowmen and such at variousl spots, and you are trying to keep some of them at least alive, but it is tough. Very minimal XP given for bosses that you kill, and the end is not happening, for some reason. No way to get out of the castle and back to your king. Okay as a different type of mod, but not too satisfying in the end. And absolutely no gear, except some middling items on bodies in the castle, close to the end.
