You are T'alisalia Zhaunillanin, of the Great House Zhaunillanin, of the Ilythiiri city of Che'el A'lal. Tricked by an unseen foe, you have been blamed for the theft of a sacred book from the Zhaunillanin Great Library. Your punishment should have been slow death, but, at the request of a Priestess of LLolth, you have been spared. Instead you have become something worse, Dobluth, an outcast. Scorned and shunned by the rest of your House, your only recourse is to find who stole the book from under your guard, and redeem yourself. As you progress in your investigations, you discover a deadly plot that threatens the very existence of the city itself... |

The game breaks at the beggining. On speaking to Shuken, on opening his shop, the game freezes and I receive the info NWN stopped working. Repeatedly. Can anyone help me with this matter? May this have something to do with the module lacking item skins or something? [EDIT:] reinstalling HAKs and ERFs from this CEP https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/cep1-complete seems to have helped.
Thanks, this puzzle makes me crazy!I try to insert 6,9,12,15-teech cogs into three devices again and again but always fail.
This was a very fine module, and not that short, I would say. certainly several hours of playtime. A bit hard to figure out, (thanks to greg above for his hint on the Pull chain thingy!) but overall good fun. I am chasing the baddie right now, and trying to find my way in. Wish me luck!
Not quite as thrilled the second go around. This is a very challenging module with ranged damage equipped monsters all over the place, and precious few ways to combat them. I had modified my Fighter/Weapons Master, and then just undid about 10 levels and made her just a Fighter, with Bastard Sword Feats. Having no Regen is tough, except for the Vampiric type in the two bastard swords available. You will need to cheat in gold to get Bloodletter, but it is worth it. The feats for the Weapons Master in Scimitar and Longsword are wasted, IMHO.
You will quickly learn that you need to put in your own map pins in English (not Drow!) in order to keep track of where things are in town, as well as the various caves and such in the outlying areas. Everything is in Drow, including the names of places, and I just could not keep it straight in my little brain. That made it doubly hard to navigate and figure out what to do next. I was somehow able to kill all the flaming dead guys in the Chamber of Death and find the Bloodletter Senior (the +8 Bastard Sword) by exiting the area and having them follow me out 2-3 at a time. These are really tough critters! And the respawn rate in this game is high, with fairly high level baddies, so it is a real grind. I am quitting after doing the Poisonous Waste portion on things. No real resolution found in that area, using the special map and amulet.
I see no way forward and am tired of just killing the same monsters over and over again. I deducted a star for the over the top toughness of this module, and the underwhelming equipment that you have to buy, nothing much to be found until this bastard sword at the quitting point. Good luck if you try this, but not very satisfying to me at least.
I am looking for the download files: the exe does not work for me, and I dimly remember there were always problems with that. The do-it-yourself download worked fine for me, but my CP died, and I need the files again to replay the game.
The trick is to treat the .exe as an archive, not an executable. Copy it from the zip to a regular folder, then open it with an up-to-date copy of 7zip or WinRAR.
The .exe contains a nested .exe, but, as far as I can see, the latter has no useful content.
Mod is up and running: great mod.
Thaks to everyone for the fast help!
I just tried to replay this using EE (latest Dev build) and when all the initial cut scenes are completed and you are in your home, my character is still a child as was set when you meet the story teller.
I used the character override to set my character to an Elf and although it chnages the appearance and allows you to hold a rapier as a one-handed weapon, your appearance changes back to a child when you load the game.
Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this issue?
