Edit: Damn, I was on the wrong project page. This feedback is for chapter 1, not the prelude.
I could have given a more detailed feedback if I had had the time to write it after I played the module, but now it has been a while and I can only tell you about a few things I noticed.
Even though I don't agree with your sentiment about bad characters (in my book an a-hole, fictitious or not, is always an a-hole) I liked this module. It was very well written. So well it didn't matter much that the custom content you used (especially the CEP forest expansion) looks extremely dated and some exterior areas look kind of bland.
The maze tileset with all the reflective surfaces and the many effects looked nice, but slowed the PC to a crawl which was very annoying.
I give this module 8 points for the area design and 10 points for being very immersive and excellently written.
I hope you don't consider me being a troll for only giving it 9 points. I'm only giving some honest feedback here.
9 is not a troll rating. :D Trolling would be giving it a 1 or 5 as if it were unplayable, just because the player hated Brash. (It's happened.)
Perfect for my return to NWN. The kind of module that turned me into a vault junky some years ago! (lol).
Dark, immersive and kinda disturbing!
Edit: ... and I posted this on the wrong Chapter. Genius.
My mind has been nagging me for quite a while now.
Because I'm not knowledgeable about how the modules are made, this is still in my list of "may-not-even-do-it", but in case I DO do it, would it be alright if I create the story for the King's Road (I think it was called)?
Even if I do get your permission to, there's stuff we need to consider:
1: I don't know a thing about Neverwinter Nights, I played this Module before the Main Campaigns merely a few days ago.
2: Because I don't know about the game's world (Seriously, I don't. I only played Baldur's Gate 1 - 2 so far), I don't know what you may find on the way to the protagonist's destination, or even why she is heading north.
3: I haven't decided whether this is more combat based or a more social drama approach like it is DemonHeart.
4: I'm battling a death-match against the CEP installation because... reasons (NOOB!).
5: My mind might get bored of the idea and move on, though I don't want that to happen anytime soon, which is why I better start learning about how to create the world that I'm imagining in this very moment.
6: I'll try to have a story BEFORE even confirming anything about creating its respective module(s).
7: I don't know how long that will take.
[This after only playing the prelude]
This is a great module. The technical side of it is impressively good - so good, in fact, that I won't write about it here. It's made as well as commercial products should be.
Story-driven games are my favourites, and low-magic settings are another thing I love. This adventure satisfies on both these points. I did not expect the events to go as they did go, and followed the story with great interest. Definitely looking forward to part 1, and then I might consider the steam "visual novel" game (although it's apparently not the same story, which is a bit of a bummer).
Not sure how much useful would a detailed feedback be, given that the author seems to have switched to another platform.
why no module for cleric main character in this vault?
rouge, bard, fighter
cleric is good fighter too, probably one of the best, especially war priest
clerics have also great charisma, not only bards.
Here's great cleric-specific module called Deja Vu https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/deja-vu
I get an error message saying that I am missing a hakpak. I've downloaded and added all the necessary files on this page. The error log states: "names differ: pfh21 pfh9". Does anyone have any idea what's wrong?
Thanks in advance.
What is the name of the hakpak that is reported missing? You'll need to make a note of it when the message appears on the screen.
The "names differ" message in the log is nothing to do with hak names. IIRC it's a warning that one of the models loaded is not internally consistent, which can often be ignored.
Thanks a lot for your quick reply! It turned out to be my mistake - one of the hakpaks had been dropped into the wrong folder! No wonder it wasn't working!
Thanks again.
Hey everyone~
Can someone help me please?
The portraits of Brash, Raze etc. don't show up in dialogues, they're just blank images :(
They sometimes appear if i click on them for more information or when they join my group but they also switch as quickly to a blank image again.
I've already reinstalled the game (EE version) and the module and I did everything exactly how it's written here. I also used the repair option on Steam.
I really don't know what else to do and it's really bothering me
Other portraits that were not customized by Lamb show up without a problem.
I have all the files in the right place, including downloading the old cep 2.4 but it crashes immediately after creating my required Bard, Rogue, or Fighter... I'm playing this on NWN EE, any ideas on what might be causing the crash?
Doesn't work for me. Maybe because I play NWNEE...
To fix a crash after creating a character (NWN:EE) just rename "dhlamb_intro.bik" to "dhlamb_intro.wbm". Worked for me.
Game crashes every time I enter "load" menu if I have any saves from this module. NWN EE, CEP 2.6. Any fix?
UPD: tried it on NWN Diamond (1.69) with CEP 2.6, same result. Quicksave, menu -> load = crash.
UPD2: same problem with chapter 1, "solved" both by playing through respective chapters in one go.
UPD3: found out that it's common problem when using certain character portraits. Created another character with one of standard portraits, saves work fine.
I have tried downloading this module - I am using NWN Enhanced Edition. I have downloaded, unzipped and installed all the files. I have the CEP. When I run it I am allowed to create a charachter (I have kept it in lone with the Mod requirments). However when I run it the screen goes blank for a few seconds and then NWN crashes. What am I doing wrong?
I managed to work it out - I needed to change the movie file from .bik to .wbm then it worked.
It's been a while, but I remember the writing in this as quite excellent. The author is upfront about the pre-defined aspects of the protagonist's background in the Readme, which is always something I appreciate since it makes it much easier to get into the right mindset for an immersive roleplaying experience without having to read spoilers about the module.
I have just tried to install this mod, and now all my texts are missing from all versions of NWN.
I consider this mod dangerous malware.
See response to your same comment on Chapter 1.
