Description | |
Making your way east and tired of footsore wandering, you agreed to travel with a small merchant caravan for a few coin and the promise of assistance should there be trouble. Well, trouble there was. An ambush by some rather effective bandits has slain the caravan master and all but yourself and one of the other guards. You have escaped with your grievously wounded comrade within the walls of a small town, aptly named 'Stark'. You have never heard of the place, but then you had never trod this dark and winding road neither. This mod is recommended for level 3 fighter or multi-class, level 4 rogue or mage. Your chosen class and alignment will make a difference in how the game is played out and to certain NPC reactions. See readme for gameplay notes (not spoilers) |

haunting
Highly underrated module, good story with a hostile and mysterious city atmosphere. Quests require a decent amount of investigation and puzzle solving by the player him/herself, solutions are not always obvious.
However...it feels unpolished due to outdated or poorly implemented scripting. There was an over-reliance on the OnPerceive functions for NPCs to start conversations with PCs, which resulted in NPCs constantly trying to talk to the player again and again even though they had nothing new to say, this could've been solved by setting variables. Sometimes, NPCs would also attack before the whole conversation actually finishes, blocking off certain dialogue options. Shops are badly stocked, so one should come in fully decked out in Level 3/4 gear, with at least a +1 weapon.
Another strange one. Faction attacks for no reason, poor merchants and single henchie that takes off! I finished this one more by luck than any great journal or NPC guidance. Not great.
