One of my favourite games of all time is updated and for frEE?? that should've been a crime.
I'm not sure if it's a bug or my own fault but I've been trying to find that one person in the isle of the dead to continue the missing citizens quest but I can't find him. I've gone there at night and midnight but no sign of him :/
Well since it's the original author Valine that's updating it I don't have any issues with the upgrade of the module. Some of the new elements are fun new missions or changes to existing missions add a new level of fun and challenge. It's not perfect the new food/water/rest system needs a huge overhall that's why there's a hotfix to deactivate it for now. I can't wait to try it when it's not going to insta kill me whenever a long game time wait period happens lol. I think there are new elements and carry overs from the old version in the game that can be greatly improved to be more common sense table top AD&D realistic but overall it's a superior version to the original that feels more organic like it's a real city in my opinion.
That's because he's there during the day only.
I swear I've read from one of the comments that you can only go there at night but I'm also tad dyslexic so anyws lol Thank you!
i absolutely loved the original modules, and played them twice in a row. Now that ive been playing this version i love it even more. Only tiny annoyances for me are the small, little roads in the harbor area, and the way the Dhorn Guards are almost imidiately in your face after you get arrested and have nothing on your body, giving you barely enough time to re-equip an outfit before they drag you off to jail AGAIN.
i really do hope a remake of part two will also be in the making, because this is absolutely stunnning
thank you for the amazing modules, and you surely are a artist in story telling.
Yeah the checkpoints added can be a little rough too doing lesson 5 for example until you have a very high Hide/Move Silently skill natural or with gear or just finish lesson 3 asap to use the sewer mass transit system lol. The thing about stolen gear that always annoyed me was traps in inventory. If you take the quart crystal and make then yourself still counts as stolen goods. WTF is that about? What if you are a hunter trapper that has a job getting animals in the forest for skins or work as a home security expert lol. The traps in your inventory should be explained away to the Dhorn that way and the Dhorn to have Godlike clarvoyance to see what is legal or stolen goods and items in your bag is hillariously unbelievable and not realistic. Unless all the guards are high level mages, clerics, bards, ect they should have no way to tell on the spot unless it's a high value reported stolen item like the statue in the Mayor's mansion or something similar high profile.
Figured I'd replay my favourite crpg campaign ever (would that Owlcats made their stuff without content restrictions T_T) and was incredibly delighted to discover that it's been updated and is being worked on again. I cannot overstate my jubilation XD
First impressions on changes I've seen so far while I'm doing lessons:
- The new maps are quite impressive. Enough that NWN engine struggles with them, really - I once managed to phase through an archway and teleport onto a overpass with no way off due to pathfinding freaking out XD Still worth it.
- Actually tracking accessories like underwear state is very welcome. Being able to fully customize appearance in a way that the world responds to is one of my favourite features in adult crpgs, I appreciate any further enhancements. Although, I noticed that Trissa's miniskirt and miniskirt from the shop evoke different reactions despite using the same model, is that on purpose?
- Cutscene sex is a bit unfortunate, though. Interactivity of a dialogue allowed for much greater sense of investment even when the options had little to no mechanical difference in the end. That and you could set the pace at which you go through the scene, while new ones can sometimes last longer than you care to watch them. The old-style scene in the western quarter during pickpocketing lesson felt a lot better than the new cutscene ones.
Tempted to check ahead if the escape from the bandit fort has been changed. I remember the original verion was a huge tease, dangling that perverted mastiff in front of the princess, but never letting her take it for a ride. Would be awesome if it's actually possible this time around.
There's a hole in Uncover the Dhorn Spies quest - if you try to get into the gladiator school for funsies, you get issued this quest upon talking with the woman at the Lionhead even if you haven't recieved it and spied on the sewer meeting yet.
It has been over 2 months since the last update. Are any updates planned or are they finished?
This new version uses Intimate Animations or something similar?
Yes there are animations now in most of the sex scenes
Can I get some help? I'm in the "Welcome Home" chapter. In the online walkthrough for the old version, it suggests that a mission is triggered that has you work with Pia and Vico to find the fireplace exit to the North. In the new version, Pia and Vico disappear, and my journal suggests I should find someone who knows about the Dhorn. I've been exploring the city to no avail, and I retuned to the Tavern several times to get the same response to "lay low". I happy to get a spoiler to help me progress to the next step. Will the mission eventually trigger after several visits to the Tavern?
Either you find someone who knows about the dhorn (it's Mando's brother in case you did his quest) or you wait for a random number of days (<4 I think).
Fantastic story. I love rogue-centric modules that encourage stealth and wit over brute strength. I'm not into sexual content in my video games (not that I'm offended, just not interested), and my only critique is that you need to use your sexuality to trigger some missions. I'm playing a cutthroat character, but prefer to keep my dignity. The story, of course, gives you that option, but I get the sense I'm missing out on some things by playing a discerning princess. Nonetheless, this is epic and the characters are rich. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
I am the same way and played a reserved princess the first time through. I ended up playing again to see what I missed by doing so. For what it is worth, there wasn't as much content effectively locked away the first time through as I thought. If you're curious the ones that come to mind are (spoilers, highlight to reveal):
* a sequence of three fairly short prostitution missions accessible early in the game (if you act desperate to get clothes from a beggar, you're approached by a pimp)
* an invasion of the Dhorn HQ to recover a painting if you pose nude for a painter
* getting revenge on the thugs who killed Caron,
* trying to kill a Dhorn Lord via Jacia
*Doing Tony's set of missions (the longest gameplay of all of these), though this is a bit borderline because you have to agree to 'move in" with him to get access to the missions, but you don't have to get physical with him
I may have missed some there but in retrospect, after playing it twice, I think the game struck a reasonable balance of putting the PC in a sexualized world while also providing avenues for the princess to (mostly) keep it at arms length.
I had an issue in the Isle quest where Christian and Myra were not casting any spells at all, which makes them kind of worthless. Anyone else have this issue or know if it was fixed in ver 2.03 (I was playing 2.02)?
I played the isle quest with only the ver. 2.03 but I didn't have any issues or bugs in that part of the game so most likely it was fixed.
Is there any quest associated with the dwarves in the back room of the brothel in Western Bretancuria? The leader is named, so that is why I am asking/
Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble with the fatigue system. The princess is always tired, hungry and thirsty even after resting, drinking and eating, it makes the module practically unplayable, she even died once when I tried to rest for 8 hours, even though she ate and rested twice shortly before.
And I can't deactivate it either, I followed the instructions, copied the no food hotfix last into the hk folder but nothing happens. I tried to start a new game after making the changes but it's all the same. And now there also a problem with one of the initial cutscenes, after her escorts are killed and she runs, the cutscene where she's captured and must escape until Vico gets her doesn't trigger, I have to run manually and the first time this happened the princess got killed because I didn't know what was happening.
You are having troubles most people are not. Check your override files. You can also try to re-install it.
I found a problem. When I was in the Temple of Hyath (The Golden Chalice), I went down stairs and there is a first evil door that is un-lockpick-able. Is there anyway to pass through it? Or did I miss anything before going to the first door?
search in the previous room
I am having the same problem too. I searched in the previous rrom, and I looked at the wiki walktrough. It says that there is supposed to be a chest with a cleric's key in it. Where is it? Because all of the rooms are empty up to that one door that is glowing red. Don't know if this is a glitch or not, but at this point, I think I'm gonna have to restart. :(
/Spoiler!
No need to restart - There are *two* hidden doors near by, close to each of the two "pillars" (not the ones with the cages; but rather the ones in the next room) to the left and right.
You need to be kind of close to find them, so standing there with detect mode activated helps. Having a good level in the search skill further increases the chances to spot the doors.
Don't blame me, it was the cultists who hid these doors so well.
The room with the bottomless pit and the cocoon? I can't find anything there. I've combed that room and all the others and I can't find anything. I know in older versions the key was supposed to be in the cocoon, but now there's just a longbow and some arrows.
EDIT: Never mind, turns out I had to be naked when hugging that door. VERY INTUITIVE! Now i've reached the part you described. I explored both hidden areas... nothing. The cleric key just opened an area I can rest in. No idea how to progress past the red door.
EDIT2: Turns out the game just didn't render the entirety of the prison area... there was a black wall and I walked through it forcing the game to render the rest. Goddammit I wasted so much time to find it.
Holy crap! I was so glad to see this was updated. I must have spent the past ten years looking up to see if the modules got updated. And to my surprise it was. I clocked about sixty hours on this new version. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring every nook and cranny I could searching. I very much got addicted to this playing about 8-10 hours a day over the span of a week. The ending was marvelous and I have my fingers crossed that there will be an update to part two. I am quite sad I couldn't play more!
I did find there were some bugs:
I hope this helps!
Hello, so far I am really enjoying this version of the module. Everything feels a lot more real. I had to disable the food and thirst system though, because I felt it got in the way of my fantasy experience X)
So far, I've encountered one major problem that prevents me from doing a quest. I looked for a solution in the comments (since the wiki wasn't updated to the new version) but I didn't find anything. It's about the Dhorn Love / Dhorn Slayer quest.
When I met Simon in western Betancuria, he said that his house was in the southern part of the city (I assume, the harbor), but now, the only place on the Isle of Men is a tavern. Has the location changed while the line wasn't updated? Help would be very much appreciated.
Simon says he's living on Capital Hill in the merchants' district. And that you should talk to the dhorn guarding that area.
You're also supposed to get a journal entry but iirc that entry is missing in the current version (or was missing in earlier versions). Anyway if it's still missing it should be there in the next version..
Hello, sorry if this was answered before, but do you absolutely have to put the files inside the game folder? Can I put them inside User/Documents/Neverwinter Nights instead? EE, btw.
Yes - Documents folder works fine.
Indeed - for EE, the Documents folder is much better than the installation folder, because Beamdog don''t guarantee that anything added to the installation will work, or still be there after an upgrade.

Hi, I'm a little stuck in the Golden Chalice quest, and any help would be greatly appreciated!
I've gotten through most of it, (I think). I have the pearl ring. I can make my way down to a seemingly slippery ledge, or I can climb the stairs and exit the dungeon. Whereever I go, I haven't run into the Christoph or Myra. Have I missed a secret door somewhere? Where are they waiting for me?
They are where you left them.
Alright, I finished it and here's my thoughts about it (spoilers)
- Very nice facelift and I liked the changes in the quests, although I ran into some troubles.
- This is just my opinion, but I think Lesson 1 could use more options. Right now the possible paths are to persuade Gaston or to rob a beggar. Perhaps a third option at least could make this lesson more fun. Like finding some raggedy clothes somewhere (dumspter diving?) or perhaps an evil rogue could steal Trissa's clothes and rip them apart until they look like something a beggar would wear, I mean the chick already openly hates the main character so she might as well get an actual reason to do so, lol. Also, Gaston is not the only dressmaker in town. Why can't we go ask Nora too? If with Gaston the condition is to persuade him and then get the outfit for free, perhaps with Nora it could be a more normal transaction with her telling you she'll do for x amount of gold. Or perhaps she'll be real nice and tell you you can get some left over rags in exchange for running an errand or something.
- I liked, to put in a way, the new cutscene in the Golden Chalice quest, with the possible future of the princess getting impregnated and abandoned by Christano. It feels more relevant to the quest itself, showing her the possible consequences of putting out for that paladin wannabe. I think this gives more weight to the decision of acting like a slut and letting the guy have his way with her. Even if at the end this doesn't happen, I think the point is to give her more insight on the consequences of her actions. Which I think is very relevant to what Jacia explained to her about the 13th god.
- I found the progression of the Ravenstower quest rather confussing and perhaps inconclusive. Maybe updating the journal with something like "I should talk to" or "go to" after Castias invitation to diner would help.
When I visited the chapel, the guards say the captain has the key, and I can't speak to him because getting into that room would screw up things with the emissary, so the only choice is to pick the lock, I think. This made one of the guards hostile and the other told me to ask the guard that found Dana's body about what happened down there, but I couldn't find the guy... ? Also the boss battle with Terek was anticlimatic, I go in there with all the Ravenstowers resurrected and yet he speaks to the princess as if they weren't there. Then he runs away and I waste one of my resurrect charges on Claile thinking that quest goes on until I get the wizard, that's on me I guess. But none of that happened and, after talking to the Baron, they all go away except Claile, who then awkwardly stayed in my party all the way to the road to Betancuria until a Dhorn got her. I probably didn't get the progression correctly in that one and missed something important. Perhaps getting into the vault first, since Pia mentions something about the place messing with magic spells as a security measure, but I was rping a lawful evil at that run so I left that for the very end, whoops.
I did like the overhaul on the Baron, not so rapey anymore, but still a huge a-hole. And the change in the resurrection staff too, I can't refresh it by resting like the old one, but its 9 charges are more than enough.
- I don't know what to do with the dresses that don't fit the princess, I tried talking to the tailors while holding them in my inventory but I don't get any options of asking them to fix them for her like I can with armors. Are those just to sell?
- I also went and killed Simon on the tavern instead of following the quest path of having sex with Jero to find out where he is, but later in dialogs they talk as if she got him in his house instead. Perhaps the dialogs could better reflect the player's choice, or avoid making any specfic reference about how she did it?
And about that, is there another option to find Caron's murderers without sleeping with that guy? If so I'd appreciate a hint.
Spoilers:
Quest number 1: there are a few more options then you noticed. You could buy the sturdy clothes from Gaston and trade with the beggar, or you you could get Fino to help. (hidden text right here... (Let the beggar start to molest you then go away. Fino will come up to you and make you a business proposition.)
Ravenstower is a little confusing. To get the best solution, you need to do several things. You could also just find the boat and leave. hidden text here. Find the secret room in the basement of Tarek's tower (right after you escape the prison, look for secret door to the right (across from the dogs) There is a room with 3 secret doors. See the cut scene. After you talk with Castias, wait 1 day and return. He will be killed. Go and talk with the Dhorn emmissary and tell him something like, Castias liked me and I could have convinced him to surrender. You should be able to figure the rest out.
Caron's murderers: the only way to get them is to sleep with Jero.Yuck.
The EE version of the game is too pedantic. I can't achieve the beggar disguise. Gave up on this version of the mod and the game. Just as well I only paid a discount for the EE version.
PS. Completed the quest. I had to use DebugMode to lower my charisma. Is the hungry/thirsty feature part of the game or part of this Mod?
The hungy thirsty is part of the mod. You can use the alternate part 3 to get rid of it. it seems most people on this list have done so.
There's ash in the Bear Pit kitchen oven that you are able to use repeatedly to lower your charisma below 12. Being able to use it repeatedly confused me, too. Maybe the item description could be modified to mention that effects stack because so few other ability changing items in NWN stack.
What amazes me is how often people are okay with violence but get squimish about sex. Hack a person's head off that's okay. Show T&A, procreate the species and it's shock, horror.
I am hopelessly lost in Lesson 3 sewers. Version 2.03 has too many cheap shots leading to dead ends and giving false leads. If I ever play this version again I will make sure I install the sewer key in My Chest.
I had a hard time finding the hideout, too. It's in Northern Sewers in the very middle behind a hidden door. I had to crack open the toolset to find it. My 6 Spot Princess must have walked past that hidden door 5 times. LOL
Spoilers
Best NWN module ever written made even better. It's like playing ADWR for the first time all over again. I hope Part 2 gets a facelift soon! Thank you for 15 years of amazing gaming!
Edit: Well, I finished it. Crammed it into the holiday weekend. I'm not in love with a few of the changes. I believe any criticism should be positive, so I will start with what I liked and give constructive feedback for anything I wasn't a fan of. Lowered my rating to a 9 due largely to bugs/issues and not personal dislikes of the changed content.
Some areas I think could be improved upon:
I could use a couple of hints if someone could fill me in on the new content:
Butcher: no (but he - or what's left if him - is in the same part of Betancuria as Betty
Norah: yes (but not the gladiator school, again you can find her in the same part of Betancuria)
Boris: you need both robes
He's in prison (v2.03+ only).
There should be a corpse with the head. The head was missing in earlier versions but it should be there in v2.03.
Just looked it up in the toolset: there's a dead prisoner in the second cell to the right with the head in the inventory.
