Quin is Mando's brother. You can find him in the hideout. He gives you the quest to find a way into the restricted area. If you finsih the quest he moves into the Dhorm administration building working as a spy for the family.
You can't find him in the wiki because he did not exist in the old version.
Hi, just completed tony the tiger quest. I couldnt figure out what the secret door was or if it's possible to use it. Is there a way to use it or is it just there for you to see, so it might make more sense in the story because of the ending of the quest?
I would like to help you but at the moment I don't know what and where the secret door is you are talking about?
Alrighty, temporary solution for those stuck with the Under siege and Welcome Home quest
Wheee, thank to everyone helping me above. At least now I finally can finish those quest - even though it is through cheating : /
The problem with the Undersiege quest and Castias' corpse not appearing is not the cutscene in the basement. As far as I can say the bug occurs if you talk to Castias shortly before midnight (this is not unlikely if you do not rest in the prison). Then if you don't leave the area on the same day but linger there for a while (search the other rooms, talk to Timin, ...) so it's already after midnight it's quite possible that you trigger Castias' death already. Unfortunately the script (which is executed when you enter the area) that is supposed to jump Castias to the spot where you should find his corpse does not work with a dead Castias. Also the script then does not create the treaty.
So to make sure that the bug does not happen to you just make sure that you don't talk to Castias shortly before midnight and then leave the area immediately.
I don't know if this covers all the problems with this quest (it definitely does not cover the rare case where a simple reload fixes the bug) but talking to Castias shortly before midnight and leaving his room after midnight is a save way to break the quest.
First off, I am so excited to see you're well and still working with the module! I played the originals a few years ago and was so sad to realize I'd missed the activity period and any chance to tell you how much I adored them. So far I've only played the very intro of this new one and haven't even left the Bear Pit, but the changes are already stunning--there's so much detail in the rooms!
While I loved the experience of part 2, I'm excited to hear that there are some story tweaks that (it sounds like) turn the Princess's part 2 goal into a simpler task--she really couldn't catch a break in the original! I'll miss the part 2 romances, but I suspect I'll really like the plot changes. I'm a little apprehensive about playing through without walkthroughs, since in the original there were several quests I found I wanted to skip or take the non-obvious route through (like breaking in from the front to get to the gladiators), but we'll see how it goes!
I have one question for folks who've played all the way through: what level do you hit by the end now? I like to multiclass out of rogue (with, I'll admit, a couple tweaks to the 2da files so the class skill lists aren't quite so punishing), and would love to know how many levels I should plan for. (Also, if there's anywhere besides the comments section to talk to other people who are playing and trade tips, let me know!)
I've finished with a rogue(13) and a rogue(7)/monk(6) so I think you can expect to reach level 13.
I finished at level 14 (Rogue 12, Wizard 1, Fighter 1).
I finished at lvl14. Rogue 11, fighter 2, shadowdancer 1
- the fighter class i use mostly to get more feats, so i can have ambidextry and 2 weapons fighting, a bit more hit points/attack bonus/CON save bonus. Also allows me to try any armor i chance upon ;)
- the Shadowdancer first level special ability is awfully useful, especially since i like to sneak upon foes, pickpocket them of potions and sometimes weapons when that's available before going in for the kill (i can change a lot of things when a strong enemy has no more healing potions, or even needs to attack you without weapons, which leaves him open for opportunity attacks if he doesn't have a feat preventing them...). Whenever i get noticed due to a failed pickpocket attempt or one enemy noticed me sneaking around, i move a few paces away, activate Hide in Plain Sight and i'm back to being invisible. For example, it allowed me to kill one of the generals and his two bodyguards in the Dhorn Killer quest, with a bit of healing (using healing kits which do not interrupt hiding...), get some potions, and free a group of prisoners afterwards (for a little bit of xp).
**** New Update 2.03 ****
I have uploaded version 2.03 of the module. This update doesn't contain any new content but focuses on quite a large number of bug fixes.
Please note that due to the nature of the game, these bug fixes only go into effect when starting a new game.
I'm still trying to get the module as bug free as possible, so always appreciate it when issues are reported to me.
Happy adventuring!
Wheee! Thank you a lot for your hard work. If you ever decided to update part 2, then I can't wait for what you have in store. I notice some new plot points are added in at the end of part 1, so it will be great to see how they develop in part 2.
I would gladly play both the old and the enhanced version again and again to see the difference : )
I have a question. I was installing the hak3 haks and they were dated 2009 and I already had files there from 2020. Why does this require old hak files?
Hi 2acornupper,
Just wanted to say thanks for making this incredible story in the first place. I discovered the original versions I think about a year after you had stopped working on them... it was long enough ago that everything was still back on the old vault site anyway, and there was a rich history on the forums detailing all the updates and changes that you had made to those versions over time. Truly amazing and epic work, and even without the, ahem, *naughty* aspects I'd still rate the original tales as one of the best adventure and character arc community creations I've seen for any game.
Awesome to see you coming back to it after all this time. It was fantastic to see the various updates, additions and changes to the old familiar story and characters :-)
I will add my voice to those who've already commented that they much preferred the text based naughty stuff to the cut scenes. I mean - it's 2021. Even with NWN's graphic enhancements, anyone who just wants to * watch * that sort of thing surely isn't going to pick NWN's pixels to do it in! Aside from that, the path-finding issues that the new, much more complicated map architecture creates are kind of a pain to navigate. Between these two factors, honestly I cannot see myself replaying the new version more than once or twice (can't tell you how many times I ran through the original versions over the years with different character variations!)
Anyway - awesome to see you back at it, and thanks again for the epic adventure ;-)
idonottweet
Any chance for a part 3 or expanding content for the original modules?. I always felt that some areas were kind of unfinished, like for example would have been nice to have an ending if you stay in the orc base and the end of the game.
Anyway, glad you're back. Dance with Rogues is really one of the best adult stories out there, if not the best.
Can anyone walk me throug Quin's quest "Risky business" and Undertow? I have no idea where to start =_=
In Undertow, I get to the top of Kena tower but find nothing there
risly business:you will need to play cards in the inn just as you enter the merchant district.
1. make sure you click on the sign, there are several around town.
2. go to the door of the inn. try to be pretty. Eventually you will get in.
3. play card with anyone and lose.
4. play card with the Djorn officer and work it so he loses. This is a little difficult because you can't make the other palyer lose.
5. pick pocket the banker to get the uniform.
for the route, complete the painting quest and you will have a route.
What is the sign? as in the door sign of the buillding?
I'm trying to get in the Blue Swan for this quest but when I click on the door they only tell me to go away
Kena's tower should be visited during the night. Kena's not there during day hours, she has a part-time job somewhere else...
Thank you, but what about Undertow? I did it and now Jaica is not in the hideout anymore. Does that means any other quests that I need to report to her (Like Punisher or Jaica'smessage) are now completely not finishable?? Is there a way for me to find Jaica again?
Also I don't want Desser to die : (( How can I prevent that?
I cant even say how excited i am about this! I stumbled upon NWN vault and modules a year ago, when i finished visual novel Demonheart and was curious to see the original module the author created. In that module author stated that its heavily inspired by Dance With Rogues, so of course I had to try it.....and well i completely understand why!
I loooooved the module! As a female gamer and huge fan of dark fantasy and hey I aint shy to admit, erotica as well, there is no way you can get such a perfectly crafted product for me in commercionalized gaming(why Demonheart VN was heavily toned down as well compared to the module i found on this site). Gaming industry doesnt really catter to female smut much with perfect mix of story and smexy stuff xD. Whe i was this "treasure trove" of a site with modules like DWR, Gladiatrix and Arandie i was hooked.
And here i come after few months break to fish for a new module to play and find this! You have no idea how excited I am! Look forward to new changes and see how this turns out!
I'm doing Lesson 6 (the Mage Tower one) right now and after finally getting to the room to swap the clocks, I clicked on this Tube in the room and it removed every item from my inventory - including the clock which I need to complete this mandatory quest.
Uh. What do I do?
Good news is that there are not lost. Search the laundry for your items.
I've had time to play through more of this now (though still fairly early; I'm slow!) so leaving an updated comment.
-The city looks amazing! All the new assets give it so much more ambiance. I do sometimes have trouble navigating the narrower streets, especially the narrow staircases with bends in them in the harbor district
-The small tweak to make the painter for the nude painting quest a woman and up the offered gold was a great decision! I don't play the princess as particularly bold so it always felt too out-of-character to accept the offer and I'd never played the quest, but it was easy to justify accepting with the tweak.
A few bugs I noticed and suggestions:
-I like the idea of a hunger and fatigue system and would like to play with it, but I think it needs a few tweaks. Some things I noticed:
-The giant slugs in the sewers sometimes turn to block the entire path and just sit there, so you can't get past them without de-stealthing and killing them.
-Since Chela's daughter's dress now gives +1 persuade instead of +2 Charisma, it's much harder to get Gaston to let you model now (you used to be able to do it from 14 Cha with a beauty treatment and the dress)...was that intentional?
-After getting Hatori's armor and taking a bath, the kitchen girl clothes started giving me a "you can't accessorize the outfit you're currently wearing" message at the armoire (edit: this is actually happening for any new clothes I purchase as well, like the short dresses from Gaston.)
-I had an option to talk to a couple people about a room full of mirrors and demons I found in the sewers, but I can't actually find this room! (I did find a crypt in the sewers with a gong and a couple skeletons, but I couldn't figure out how to get down to the lower floor I could see...is that it?)
-I might be misremembering, but I thought there used to be an option to fast-travel to near the hideout...currently the closest fast-travel point I've found is a ways away from it.
Are you playing the latest version? I think v2.01 has added a shortcut to the hideout.
- crypt in the sewers: search for a secret door.
- Gaston: high heels should add the rest.
- Giant slugs: they have difficulties to move around in the sewers unfortunately. That is a problem sometimes but can be an advantage too as you can easily kill them and they block path not just for you also for the rats or other enemies.
- Hunger, thirst, sleepy: in case you think there's something wrong you can check the status using dm_getvarint. The variables are BellyFood, BellyDrink and Sleepy (activate the debug console and type dm_getvarint Sleepy and select you char) I know that there were a few problems with resting in earlier versions (with the rest until sunrise/sunset but not with 8 hour resting) but in the current version it seems okay - at least I haven't found any problems so far (but I did not check the variables so I'm not 100% sure) and when I think about it I haven't rested for 8 hours so far (I usually rest until sunrise). Perhaps this requires some testing...
Yep, I'm playing 2.03
What? I have never heard of the crypt in the sewer until now. Can you tell me what part in the sewer that is?
And Bug report for Valine:
- I'm playing the newest version, and in the Captured quest I makes my ways out , meet Mando and he tell me to go meet Nathan with him. However the game loads up the Bear Pit Kitchen, not Nathan room. It drop me right in the stair leading up with Nathan spawn right next to me (only Nathan, no Mando or anyone). Once I click on Nathan he say" So Mando, you have bring her back?" but if I click countinue the conversation just quit. I try speak to Nathan again, and he greet me with his generic line.
- The second is that I revisit Hatori after the Captured quest, and the dialouge option for his leasson is still present
In the same area as the entrance to Drago's warehouse, there's a secret door about halfway up the map (and about a third of the way from the left edge) that takes you to a room full of water with a big lizard. In that room, there's another secret door that takes you to the crypt (and then in the crypt there's a third secret door that takes you to the lower floor of the crypt, which is the one I missed.)
After you find the crypt, you can talk to Jacia about it. She implies that the images you saw there are things you can do in a certain sequence to unlock power, though I'm not sure offhand what any of them might be referring to. Vague guesses on a few... "strip in front of some insignia" "become a werewolf" "romance a dude" (Vico maybe? It's still the path the fortune teller assumes). And even vaguer guesses: one looked like it might be about the princess topping a guy, one looked like it was maybe about being a warrior woman in the snowy lands...
Debugging notes: I had the "Princess suddenly takes massive hunger/thirst/fatigue hit after loading a quicksave" issue happen a fifth time and was able to grab some numbers. I loaded the save a second time, immediately paused, and checked all three variables, then unpaused until the penalties kicked in a few seconds later and checked them again. All three variables dropped by 23 in those few seconds. Several "AI Update Time Overflow" messages also showed up, I'm not sure whether they're related.
Exact messages: https://imgur.com/a/w3XHKRo
For the room full of demons and mirrors: yes, the area with the gong and skeletons is the area in question. There is a secret door to the lower area close to where you entered the region (at the top of the stairs). You can also "fall" into the lower level by approaching the ledges behind the gong. If you do fall down you need to find the other side of the secret door in order to escape, so to avoid potential frustration I suggest saving before you jump down. If you do you'll be able to see some demonic portraits spread around the room, which are the "mirrors" in question.
So in this version we can see animations (erotic) or is it Black Screen?
Some more bug report for the lastest version:
- Pia is misisng: When I talk to Dan he offers no dialougue option to help me get in the tower. I have to use the Chooser menu to teleport myself to the 3rd floor to proceed
- Under siege quest: continue to be broken same as before. I rest in the cell, get attacked by the men, sneak out then witness the Terek affair cutscene (it's about 3 am after the cutscene), then go to Catias and ... he countinues to not spawn anymore. I don't talk to him before midnight this time so I think it's not the timing that cause the bug
SO I decide to just skip the entire thing and go to the basement, find the boat then sail out. Once I reach the river bank Pia initiates a conversation as if she have something to say but the dialougue window show the normal generic options - wonder what that's about.
Help needed....i simply can not find the damn hideout with alfons -.-....and i hate sewers, i can see some spots that obviously need hidden door to open but nothing is happening and i am getting veeeeeery frustrated sneaking around rats and giant cockroaches. is there any specific requirement? iam guessing he is still somewhere in south betancuria sewers< i found tony and listened on the 2 guys talking, even the room with skeletons! but still no alfons and hideout.
The hideout has moved to the northern part of the sewers.
thank you guys :) got through!
Ps. its weirdly exciting to go through all these things again xD searching through comments, if its just me or a weird bug etc. xD
Just wanted to thank Valine so much for returning to this. I had great memories playing this module and this was the module that introduced me to Neverwinter modules in the first place. I still remember my first time I completed Part 2 I rushed to see if there was a part 3 in the works and was heartbroken to learn there wasn't. I know we may never get to a part 3 but just wanted to thank you again for all the memories
minor spilors?
Does anyone know where exactly can I find Nora? I went to one of the fancy house as it was called and i killed one of the generals in the cellars but Nora wasn't there, couldn't find her anywhere else
Ok, there are 2 fancy houses. The one right across from the admin building has Nora. She is upstairs, behind a guarded door. Bran is not in that building. She will tell you where he is.
Thank you! My dumbass didn't even see the door across the admin but instead circled all of the buildings there
Praise and bug?
Oh this was a very nice trip down memory lane. Played both modules soooo many times and loved them.
I love what you have done with the new graphics and design.
Now to my problem: I can't find any traps located on the ground. I find the ones on chests, door etc without any problem at all but any traps on the ground are "invisible". Used the console to get my "search" all the way up to 30+ but still can't find any. However, if I right-click (long-click as I'm playing on iPad/iOS) I get the option to disarm/recover trap. Seems like the floor texture is layered on top of the trap?
Has anyone else had the same issue?
Edit: This is apparantly a known bug on the iPad version: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/81394/traps-not-highlighted-on-ipad However the suggested workaround for OC (removing cloaks) doesn't help you in ADWR. However, if you strip down to completely naked you will be able to see smoe, but not all traps again
Edit again: I have played around with using different clothes and I seem to be able to use some armors and custom clothes and still find traps on the ground (like the sturdy clothes fron Gaston for example) but not the cat suit or the black dress amongst others. I'll update here when I know more. Please note that you need to reload after you have removed the cloak or piece of clothing to get search for traps on the ground working again.
Loved replaying the module and the changes really improved the game as well! I've been re exploring the sewer and I dont remember if it was there before the update but there's like a secert door that leads to another room with a giant lizard and a secret door that takes you below the sewers. I'm not sure if it's part of the story but I really don't know how to continue from here. There's two skeletos which you have the option to kill and a Gong but I can't go further cause even though there's other rooms too explore you can't go to them without some type of stairs.
If you can't go somewhere search for secret doors :D.
little late but I think I know which area you are talking about. I had a problem as well and as the other person suggested you should look for a hidden door. There's only one and you need high search skills to detect it.
Are you playing the latest version 2.03? Because in v2.03 when the sexy skill increases you won't get a new book but only the book's description will change. In the older versions it was indeed possible to get a second book but the new implementation should have fixed this bug.
Yes I'm playing 2.03 with the food tired overide because that was extremely frustating dying suddenly after lesson 2 sudden death or massive stat hp drain even after sleeping and plenty of food and water before I began the quest lol. Any time there's a huge automatic time passing it's 50/50 chance of death and if I didn't save in awhile I could lose a lot of gametime especially if I leveled up my character and completed lots of quests and forgot. Makes it not fun anymore. I would love to play it with the new food system only if it's improved a lot with a meter or some kind of warning. Seriously dying after not sleeping in a few days is silly as a former marine sleep deprivation training is required and the princess should have had similar training as a rogue or possible assasin or shadowdancer. The ability to stay in one spot awake and case your target makes sense similar to a sniper waiting for the ideal shot. I'd suggest maybe some skill negatives like concentration or any skill that requires INT as the more tired you get you are not thinking straight like being drunk first then if you haven't slept in a week now it starts hurting you same deal with food. you can easily go a week or 2 without food before it's a physical issue. Water it's days depending on how hot it is or how much activity you did. Anyway got sidetracted. The sexy skill will increase depending on who you have relations with. If a character with dialog like Tony it will show to level 2 in the book for example and not change even if the game reads your skill increased to 4,5 ect. If you learn from the sailors/dockworks in the new cutscenes a I've gotten a second even three books I can't remove unless I use Debug Mode Item reset.
So the tube in the wizard's tower is just there to screw over the player with no warning? Just deleting your inventory? Either I have to go back two hours to my last save or tediously rebuild my inventory with the gm tools?
No, the tube is in the tower so that the resident wizard can wash his clothes! Your equipment is not deleted. The wizard uses the tube to get rid of his dirty dresses and transport them to the laundry. Search for your equipment in there!
Thank you! I thought I had looked through everywhere for my gear, just missed the laundry due to camera angle.
I found the princesses stuff in the laundry basket on the lower floor of the tower. No need to reload though it annoyed me evading the creatures naked at a lower level like that I laughed when I figured it out the wizard being to lazy to put his laundry away has the tube machine strip him before bed lol.
