Thanx for this answer :)
Be sure to save the game before going in that area. It is buggy about the guards turning hostile.
One time the guards remained hostile after coming out of the area.
Another time a non-hostile guard attacked me after leaving the area and kept chasing me all over the city. And much like in the Matrix sequal, more and more guards turned hostile.
It turned out fine for me (although i sometimes had trouble with guards turning hostile or remaining hostile : in the Arena, for example. Or, at one time, during the meeting with Simon at his house, the guard who led him suddenly became hostile in the middle of conversation and i had to reload).
I forgot about that. It happened to me, too.
Thank you, I had no idea! I will go look for him as soon as I'm back from Hyath's Temple... <3
Sooo... another question (and spoilers, if you haven't finished the missing persons quest)
.
.
.
.
So, i went to the Isle of Dead, met Kena's boytoy, took the amulet, used its power to enter the tower and visited everything. I found out the bodies and went back in there during the night, so, on the topmost floor there was Kena and after three very one-way fights with her (i barely scratched her and then, her first spell killed me everytime), i decided to sneak away and report to Alfons then Nathan about who Kena really is.
So, they tell me that Jacia hasn't been seen for some time, and to avoid getting back there (i guess i would not, because except for dying again, there's apparently not much to do in the tower).
The journal tells me what i discovered and the quest is left unfinished.
I think this might be a foreshadowing of possible things to come in the next mod, but there is no marker/item/memento currently reflecting the fact i reached this point, and even if you save your character, journal entries don't make the way to another mod (they're always mod specific), so, i doubt there will be something else about Kena in the next part.
Or am i missing something ?
For comparison's sake, the Chalice quest gives the princess the option of keeping a certain ring, and the Kingdom of shadows the opportunity to keep a certain book, so i think these items might serve as markers for possible dialog or sidequests in the future, but for Kena, there is nothing and it just seem inconclusive. Unless i'm supposed to meet her again before the end of this mod (like Paurie from the hideout, depending on what i do with his "secret mission" thing and if i slice his throat or tell Mando about him...).
Also, Kena's boytoy hasn't any more dialog in the toolset, so it definitely seems a business left in limbo.
Anyone has seen something else about that one ?
The missing person quest being unfinished in some cases is a (small) bug. I think it will be fixed in the next update.
Fighting Kena: 1) don't (in the current version you cannot win), 2) what most likely kills your princess is powerword: kill, so going there with less than 100hp (or protection like death ward) is just suicide anyway. 3) she has other nasty spells too but also lots of heal potions. 4) it's possible (for a higher level princess at least) to bring her near death. But as she's immortal you cannot win.
Okay, thank you. I wonder if there will be some kind of follow-up with Kena.
Hey! Love the new updates, like im playing this beautiful mod all over again.
But I can't get myself to play it... The food/rest/ drink system is just sooooooooo infuriating. She needs to eat and drink and sleep so much it puts me off. I understand the point of this so you can take in the surrounding and also go back to the inn ect and talk to people. But it's just annoying as I already do that by myself.
I put the hak file into my game to deactive this but it still keeps saying shes hungry/thristy/tired and now all my STR and CON are decreased and I can't even get them off. PLEASE help because I really want to keep playing but this is just so annoying.
Thanks
Jason
Which folder did you copy the adwrhf20210201_nofood.zip hak file into?
If you copied it into your user files HAK folder and you had originally copied any files into the data\hk folder, then you should move all the ADWR hak files to your user files HAK folder. Finally, to be sure, copy the adwrhf20210201_nofood.zip hak file into the user files HAK folder to ensure you have the correct one loaded.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply!
No I unzipped it into the correct HACK folder more than twice actually and restarted my game to try. It's there I can see it, but not sure why it's not working, like the only HAK file to not work exactly. I will do it another time and resart my game and try again. Want to play this updated version so much.
Jason
Actually it's working now! Guess it was the third time lucky huh? Thanks for taking the time to respon as well!
Jason
Help! I'm crashing when I enter Wheelmaker.
Another one if possible hhaa, on the old version the bottom floor academy is open but I don't know where it is. It's in the same place? Because there's a huge building where it was but with no marker and it's locked. How do you get it open?
When in Old Town, go west and cross the market, keeping west like you want to go to the Merchant Quarter. You'll see the entrance to the Wizard's den (the tavern previously used by Academy regulars). The Academy is on the other side (south) of the street. The main entrance is useless. Take the street south like you want to reach the harbor or the Old Steel factory, the entrance to the academy's magic shop is the first door on your right. Except for the shop, the main floor is closed to visitors (officially : strange things happening upstairs since the Dhorn and the mages killed each other in the building), but there is a secret passage allowing you to circumvent the guards.
The other large building just west of the market is the old church, closed since the invasion because it suffered too much damage. You can't go inside and there is no quest involving it, afaik..(don't mistake it with the currently operating temple, which is on the opposite - east -side of the market. This one is open for business and there is a quest involving something in there).
Awesome, amazing info, and written! Last one, I can't enter the shop at all. Should it normally be open? bug? I will reload and try again if it's supposed to be open just not the main part of the academy.
Thank you ;)
Yes, this must be a bug, because the academy shop opened for me without problem. Once inside the shop, you'll see it lead to the main entrance, which is guarded, so, just check out for secret passages.
I think I see the problem. There are 2 doors right next to each other. One is a dummy door, and right next to it is the door to the academy.
Alright review time! (from someone completely new and finish both the old and enhanced version) - SPOILER
It's interesting to see the different between 2 version: some quests are revised and make more sense (for example where you find the rod of ressurection actually make sense this time). Certain questline and character are rewrotten in a more positive light which is nice to see. On the other hand some content is straight up cut and deleted. The end of part 1 have some significant differences compared to the old one, which mean if Valine make an enhanced part 2 someday the storyline in there will be updated too.
The map has been revamped as well, but I feel like it is more crowded and hard to navigate than the old one. The original map is much more straight forward and easy on the eyes.
But as I said, the enhanced version is litttered with problems, so only people who have played part 1 before will know how to play it. I unfortunately new to everything, even the main campaing of the game - I picked up Neverwinter solely for this module - so I ended up getting frustrated a lot. Journal does not update to tell you where to go next, events do not play out properly, key items do not spawn etc The biggest problem I got so far is that I cannot befriend Pia and bring her to part 2 with the enhanced version - must be something broken. I have to play the original version with a new Princess to get Pia to join me in part 2.
All in all, It's great to see the creator is back and update the module. Still, at the moment I would strongly reccommend the good old original part 1 and part 2 for new comers. The enhanced version need a lot of bug checking and rework for it to be stable enough to play and enjoy as the original.
This is a great module with a grand storyline. The writting is very good too - even the side characters with little screen time get enough charaterization to make them memorable. I would love to see the Princess and her companions' adventure continues and reach a proper end, hopefully we will someday get a part 3!
If you don't mind my asking, where did you find the rod of resurrection?
You have to be able to proceed with the quest normally first (if the game don't break on you and spawn Catias body then you are good to go). FInd his body, take the treaty, go downstair and meet the Dohn ambassador. He will tell you to meet him upstair. Go upstair and the Dohn will appear, a fight breakout. Kill them and loot the corpse, you will find the Rod
Thanks!!
can anyone tell me how to get to the hideout or how to teleport there? For the life of me I can not find it
The hideout is in the middle of the northern part of the sewers (under old town).
It's through a hidden door so you need to be able to detect it first. If you get too stuck, here is a sure-fire way to find it (which is what I used because I also could not find the hideout):
Enable DebugMode (type ##DebugMode 1 into the chat box), turn on the Chooser menu (press "." on your keyboard), then sroll through the list, choose Sewers (Hideout) then click Goto button. You will be teleport to the hideout, and from there you can figure out which part of the sewer it is in (remeber to put a pin on the map to make it easier to find later)
Hey, a question for those who know. I've sold the book from the bookseller to Jacia, does this just end that quest? Should I have held on to it? It seems like there might be be more there, and I am intrigued to find out if there is more in that dungeon beneath the sewers. For reference, I just finished the lessons, and am about to go with Christian and Myra
As far as I could tell, there is no reason to hold on to the book. I had the same thinking as you and held on to it for the rest of the module, but having the book didn't seem to matter. It is perfectly possible I missed something, though.
I'll be honest - while I love the new additions, I'm not a fan of the weird cutscene that automates sleeping with the sailors. I much prefered the dialogue tree - on top of that, the cutscenes take way too long (especially when I'm trying to just get gold or fill the fake mission in the sewers).
On that note, I've noticed a bug regarding the sailors on the dock - it seems to trigger more if they approach my PC, but I notice it happens sometimes if I approach them. If the dialogue tree ends in the sailor asking "Got a place?", it just says 'End Dialogue' and doesn't trigger the move to the abandoned warehouse.
I have wanted to play this for some time but all the bug reports have made me wait. I just do not like very buggy modules. I still see bugs being reported. Is the author still working on this? I have not seen the author post in a month.
The author is still working on the module and there are only a few real bugs. But these bugs don't happen always and usually they can be fixed just by reloading. So saving often is not a bad idea.
Thank you. That sounds good. I am glad the author has not gone away. That happen too often.
If you check the revisions section you can see that the author actually updated the module just last month. So I would say with luck it will continue to be updated once per month.
As for Saving: please remeber to save on seperate file. Ideally you should save to a new file everytim before you start a quest, then use the quick save slots to save during the quest. From my painful experinence, bugs can comes very unexpectedly: from minor ones like conversations skipping to the game breaking one like events not triggering. You never know when you gonna run into one, and you may need to do the quest from the beginning for it to play out properly.
Thank you so much for updating your magnificent mod – a true masterpiece.
I liked the city changes, which takes a while to get know before you can find your way around.
Interestingly, there are enough changes to make me want to play the original again :)
I do think that your text-based intimacy encounters were far superior to the revised mod's cut-scene animations.
Here are some bugs I encountered…
Arts of Love Diary
Going from 3 to 4 did not update the diary.
Later on, a second diary was generated with the correct value.
Going from 5 to 6 and 7 did not update the diary.
Castle Crossing
When you go to Castias' room after resting at the Mermaid, his body is not there. You can reload and then the body is there.
After reviving Castias, he dies each time you walk into the corridor outside his room.
I had the same problem with Castias dying. I used the debugger to move the next level of the building. Castias seems to die again when we are getting to leave.
(deleted)
There's a floor trigger that is supposed to kill Castias (but only once of course). This is controlled by a variable but apparently that variable is not set properly in your case. To help Valine / 2acornupper to fix this you could check this variable:
With debug mode enabled (enter ##DebugMode 1 into the chatline) type
##dm_getvarint Talk
into the chatline and then select Castias.
To prevent Castias from dying you can set that variable to 6 by typing
##dm_setvarint Talk 6
into the chatline and then select Castias. Then talk to him and you should get the "What...? Who...? dialog again. After the dialog you could check the "Talk" variable again.
Please help me, I decide to do this quest again but I can't figure out what to do next. I get to the part where I raise the Baron, Catias and the Baron's daughter. Then we are going to confron Terek but then what do I do to prevent him form running away??
You would have to find Claile before confronting Terek. But you can do that only if you know where to look for her. In that case Pia will start a dialog when you enter Terek's tower. But if you do not know where Claile probably is you can't prevent Terek from teleporting away. So in your case the quest ends without Terek being punished for what he did.
Can you tell me where I can find her? Pia do meantion this to me before going upstair
I think you can't find her if you don't know where she might be.
To know that you would have to restart from before talking to Castias. That prison area has many secret doors. Two of these lead to the castle basement. If you are there at the right time (which is after escaping the prison cell and before talking to Castias) you should see a certain cutscene. That is where you can find Claile - but only if you've seen the cutscene.
Thank you a lot! But now I run into a new problem: Catias body do not appear in his room after I sleep in the Mermaid, no matter how many times I rest or reload. How can I fix this?
This problem only appear if I witsness the cutscene above. In the save file where I don't walk into Terek and Timin's wife, thing proceeds normally.
I seriously considering editting the wiki article on this quest so other players know how to finish this (once I fingure out myself how)
This is a bug Valine is working on. Sometimes it is fixed just by reloading a save from before entering the area but often it is not.
To continue the quest you could continue as if Castias body is there in his room. When it's time to revive Castias go near the middle part of eastern wall of that area. Behind the wall there are two pairs of small inaccessable rooms . To detect them you can move the mouse into the black area and you should see the cursor changing. Use debug mode to jump your char into that area (press '+' on the number pad). You should find Castias body in the most southern room. Use the rod to revive him, jump back and continue...
The thing is: the game do not spawn Catias body AND the treaty as well. If I don't have the treaty in my inventory then when I talk to the Dohn Ambassador he just give a generic response and I can't progress. Do you know the item code fro the treaty so I can spawn it?
The item code is "treaty".
How do you manage to get Catias's body to appear? I reloaded many times but to no avail: he just does not appear =_=
First of all, thank you for a lot of work.
Personally I don't like the result but I understand that it took you many weeks or even month to do this.
A dance with rogues was and is a strange fusion of adult scenes, interestiong story and characters relationships.
What do we have in version 2.0?
No new adult scenes, even worse, some scenes was cut off and some redone in worth way. I don't even understand why it was needed to change dock scenes to what we have now.
Story. I liked new changes but no the way it was implemented. Crossroads castle quest is a mess, And not only because of bugs. All the time I played this quest I felt confused of what to do. There are a lot of hard unavoidable fight scenes that ruins immersion. It looks like in this quest everyone forgot that our protagonist is the runaway princess. Not a chosen one. And when you are attacked by guards I always thought that maybe I have done smth wrhong...
And it goes not only to crossroad. Now we have assasination quests, And I thought hmmm, might be interesting. I suppose you have to change your clothes or bribe or seduce.... but in the end you have to littirally just kill. I looked at this and thought -why? why would you make this quest.
Sorry for my criticism. It is because I was sooo hyped for this 2.0 thingy. I always thought that part 1 had a lot of potential. A lot of unresolved issues and new immersive quests.
Help! I get stuck again
Decide to replay this enhanced version and I get to the part after the Bear Pit get raided, Alfron tell everyon to abandon the hide out and meet at the tarven. When I go there he said they need more info and everyone report back once in the evening and once in the morning. They all leave, I go to my apartment to sleep and now I can't process. Metting Afron will just prom a generic dialouge where I ask about Nathan's news, Alfron will say no update and then leave. How to I trigger the next phase of the quest??? (what angers me is that the first time I play the quest plays out perfectly but I can't remeber how I manage to do that)
Honestly, this module need A LOT of testing and bug fixing
Talk to Quin at the Dhorn Headquarters to find someone who has access to classified Dhorn information. He will give ypu information that you can talk to Alfons about.
As already said you can talk to Quin (in case you did his quest it should be obvious that he's the one to talk to).
If you don't do that or if you haven't done his quest you would have to wait. After a few days (the number is random - I think it's something between one and four in the current version - which might be somewhat long in the worst case, iirc Valine has shorten it for v2.3) Alfons will know where the dhorn might have taken Nathan.
Sorry for asking but who is Quin? I cannot for the life of me remember who that is. I tried searching the wiki but nothing comes up.
