Found a bug, When enchanting items cost is too high, the removeproperty is not triggering before getgoldpiecevalue so if enchant +1 to +2 or +2 to +3 get charged far too much. Not sure how to solve this. Gets prices as +3 item for +2; +5 for +3; +7 for +4 and +9 item price to enchant +5 item.
Another bug and fix ( I think), when you have alot of dresses in inventory and pelvis changes due to hair growing back or shaved can get duplicated dresses appearing, maybee just on my slow machine, Found changing calls to redopelvis from 0.2 seconds to 2 seconds to load all from inventory loops before new dresses start appearing in the inventory and doing weird stuff to the loop.
while (GetIsObjectValid (oItem)){
if (GetBaseItemType (oItem) == BASE_ITEM_ARMOR){
if (GetTag (oItem) != "MySkin") DelayCommand (2.0f, ReDoPelvis (oItem, oPC));
}
oItem = GetNextItemInInventory (oPC);
}
Cheers, Love the game
Happy belated modiversary
Spoilers/questions.
1. What does the nameless amulet do? (the one on Boris?)
2. Death in the family: I seem to be stuck. I have an 'interation' with Jero and he doesn't know anybody (about who killed Caron)
1) Nothing (?)
2) Princess needs to work on her 'skills' ;).
>> 1) Nothing (?)
Should be used in the Area below the sewers? Need the Robe? Maybe there's a book somewhere (there is a pointer in this very area)?
... I'm curious as well. I'll have a look into the code later . :-)
Just want to give a huge, huge thank you! I love this mod and check on it every so often - seeing it still active and being updated is just amazing.
Dear V-
Wanted to drop by and let you know I loved playing the original back in the day (feels like decades ago, and it almost is). That was an adventure my young self wasn't prepared for... woke an animal in me and had my mind operating on a different level, horniness through the roof, lol. Took me years and years to realize where a lot of that comes from... the female shadow fascinates me to this day.
I remember not only the good times spent in your world, but also your kindness. Looking forward to revisiting with new perspective. Thank you for all.
T.H.
*Blushes* I can't belive this great module has an update! Thank you so much for posting this.
A few comments:
I love the new tilesets and assets and the new quests and storylines are fabulous. This version is so immersive it blew me away.
After playing through the game I only encountered two bugs and figured I should come document them here:
1. During the quest Uncover the Dhorn Spies I persuaded Sharita to meet me in the basement of 8, Mercenary's Way. She never spawned down there though and I had to use the console to jump past the locked door.
2. During the quest Undertow the undead version of Desser did not spawn rendering the quest uncompletable.
Thanks Valine for all your dedication to this awesome piece of work for so many years. I know you have said you made this for yourself and not for us and after reading all the comments here I can safely say this game has had a great positive impact on a lot of folks .
Looking forward to whatever's next for our dear Princess. . .
I was hoping for Part 2 EE as a Christmas present, then as a New Year present, now I just hope.
Just finished the module after years of not playing NWN. Loved it , is there any chance for a EE remake of part 2?
Sorry, I didn't read the all the 600 messages, so the following might be already mentioned (happens with 1.69):
I got a freeze of the module in the area "below the sewers", if I move to the far east of the area. I killed the guardian from remote and the freeze was gone.
Has anybody encountered this?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- edit
Can't reproduce the freeze again. It's gone. I noted that the guardian has an unusual if not unique animation. This could be the source of the trouble, but only under bad prevailing circumstance.
I have not seen the freeze you describe.
Yes, there is no sewer transport from hide-out.
Thanks for answering. Do you use 1.69/Diamond or the EE - Version?
EE
I'm stuck trying the new EE compatible version on Linux:
After creating a new character and launching, NWN crashes right at the end of loading the "Castle under Siege" area. For comparison, the official campaign loads without issue.
I have an error log entry reading:
Names Differ: candelabra02 vp_candle_01b
I assume there is some naming issue under linux?
I already converted some of the .hak files to lowercase to start the module. Could it be something similar at work here?
Oh, and btw:
I absolutely loved the older versions of ADWR, looking forward to getting to work the new one! :-D
Nobody seems to have trouble with the final battle in the Temple of Hyath. I'm folliwing the "good path", never touched the altar above or talked to the demon. For me it seems to be impossible to keep the two alive. Any pointers?
Use traps! A lot of them! Best against undead enemies: holy-, fire- and elctrical-traps. In adition use magic scrolls and potions to buff the paladin and the cleric.
The best thing about this module is the story.
But it seems to me that this story is too small in the NWN framework.
Question to the author of the module - has she thought about making a game based on this scenario?
Help someone please!
Just returned from Golden Chalice quest, stopped by Hideout and returned to NB. I was captured by Bearded man and awoke in cell.
No update to journal. Can't rest, nothing happens. Waited 10 minutes and still nothing.
Reloaded a save and replayed the scenerio more than a dozen times, entering NB from different areas. Still the same outcome.
Did I make a mistake somewhere? I don't really want to start over again (3 times now). Is there something I can do to trigger this?
(BTW V, This is my "go-to" game. Been playing ADWR for about 9 years. Best game ever!!!!)
You should be able to rest in the cell. I do not have any problems there.
Nope. It says "You cannot rest when enemies are around".
Try to find out who the enemy is (use DebugMode and Ctrl+ to jump out of the cell).
Perhaps then you can jump the enemy to a location far away from your cell using the chooser (press the '.' key while in DebugMode). Or make them friendly again using the debug console.
I'm pretty sure it's the Dhorn that's the enemy.
As for the Ctrl+ suggestion, how do I do it?
I'm familar with turning on/off the DebugMode and spawning items, but when I try your suggestion, I crash or get nothing.
I appologize for my ignorance and I thank you for your help.
Is there a script or anything that will trigger the Captured quest in the journal?
Its actually the Numpad plus button so " Num + " . Almost wherever your mouse is it will jump to that point. I believe there's a script you can invoke to start the next part which has you talk with a certain Dhorn General :) you can Add me on discord or message me here
Discord is LichLord91#1337
SPOILERS.....
Well I've tried the suggestions made and I was not able to trigger the Captured quest.
Replayed part of the Golden Chalice quest from a save and re-entered NB. Bearded man froze the princess and she awoke in the cell, no resting, nothing happens.
Jumped through all the doors and escaped through the building. One conversation with Arto triggered and the part with Tarleth. No secret door escape to the sewers and no meeting Mando. I looked in the toolset and found a few scripts that I used, but nothing really happened. I don't know if skipping this will effect the rest of the game. I could not complete Undertow and so far that hasn't effected anything.
Now my only choice is to go on and hope that I can continue the game or to start over again.
My thanks to those who tried to help. I am most appreciative.
>> Bearded man froze the princess and she awoke in the cell, no resting, nothing happens.
You should be able to rest, the prison is one of the rare areas, where resting is allowed. There is no scripting which points to a prerequisite, as soon you land in the prison (stripped blank) the story should continue.
For somebody who tries to help, it's probably useful to know if you use Diamond/1.69 or the EE. And you play with the latest version 2.11? Your override folder is clean? :-)
I'm using 1.69 Diamond Edition.
In my override I have CCOH 2da's and gui files. I read that CCOH works with this version and as for the gui, I have a wide screen and I can't really read anything without it.
Could these be interfering with the game?
I may citate Valine
>> The module has a somewhat "possessive" and temperamental nature and doesn't react well to add-ons, mods, different versions
>> of the haks, or overwrites. It works best if your overwrite folder is completely empty and you only have the module's hak files in your hak folder.
Imo that's correct. I'm playing with 1.69 by myself and have the impression, that the engine is driven to it's limits with this module. I once added some things to the mod and the result was a unpredictable behavior (i.e. the opening cutsequence was broken ... the triggers don't trigger anymore). I removed any of my addons and the mod works properly. Afaiks, the EE doesn't have this restrictions.
Remove your addons and load the savegame again to see if it works.
I don't know about the gui files but CCOH usually does not cause any problems (I played ADwR many times and I never had this problem).
You could upload your save somewhere so I could take a look and perhaps fix the problem.
That's very kind of you Peach.
I may take you up on the offer, but right now I'm re-downloading and re-installing everything so I hope that my problems have been an error on my part. I did run into an error when I first installed the game. It would not start. I looked in the toolset and it said that I was missing a few hak paks. (cep2_add_loads, cep2_ext_tiles, cep2_add_tiles1, and cep2_add_tiles2). I added these and the game started. I was under the impression that no other haks were required except the above. Maybe that's what started my downfall. Fingers crossed that this will be my final start over.
@Valine
There is an old harbour area (used to be in the SE corner of the map in 1.50) with a rogue insinde. In 2.11 it's not connected to anything.
On capital hill the home to some guy, who has a nicely prepared sacrificial area in his basement is boarded up. Obviously he workes together with Kena.
Is there any reason to take those areas out?
I just finished the new Part one after getting the module to run with the windows version of NWN under wine.
There is a lot to like in this new version, although I have encountered a few problems (spoilers ahead):
- Some of the traps in the sewers are rendered below the sewer texture, making them invisible to the player, even though the characer has spooted them.
- There is an item duplication glitch with Carla's palace of beauty. I have been unable to trigger it consistently, but it seems to interact with the new customisable clothing pieces, which sometimes get duplicated when getting shaved. Might be related to having clothing stored in bags of holding. Again, have not been able to reproduce it reliably.
- The Missing PIA quest is somewhat brittle. After the baron's demise and going downstairs one floor, I accidentally broke the entire quest by continuing down and not going back up to trigger the imprisonment scene. Only realised way later after beasically visiting the entire castle.
- I think I missed the rod of resurrection somehow. The Baron's crypt is inaccessible, and the only way to end the quest is by either sneaking out by boat or striking a deal with Terek. I (together with Pia) can fight him and his guards, but we can't finish him of, as he gets stuck in a loop where he seems to cast a teleportation spell over and over while getting hit and returning to being neutral. Is there some way to revive the Baron and his family, or has that been changed?
- The rod of resurrection also mentioned later during the Bank Robber quest, so I assume I somehow missed it.
- I think I also somehow managed to avoid meeting Anden. I cleared out the castle where he was kept prisoner in earlier versions, but now his cell is empty. I can seen some other room on the same level as the cell, but no way to reach it.
- The guests at the Ox and the Wheel don't seem to do too much, except for some dialoge and pickpocketing, or did I miss something?
- I cannot find the "carpenter" mentioned in the Punisher quest. I think I have been thorough, what did I miss?
Can anyone shed some light on these problems/questions?
Otherwise, an awesome module, god it's been years since I played ADWR!
Thank you Valine! :-D
edit:
There actually are some more items where I am not sure if they have an ingame purpose or are just curios:
- The ring Rhea's curse, is there any use besides it's obvious bad effects?
- The cultist cloak and the Nameless Amulet, of course they are tied to the Nameless One, but are they useful anywhere in part one?
You can get the rod of resurrection from a Dhorn cleric. Talk to the Dhorn once Castias is dead...
>The cultist cloak and the Nameless Amulet, of course they are tied to the Nameless One, but are they useful anywhere in part one?
You need two of the cloaks. This leads to "Kindom of shadows" quest. Within the quest you'll find an answer to your question "the Ox and the Wheel".
Love that this classic mod is still being updated again after all these years, love all the changes and improvements.
Excited to see where the Kena/Undertow quest line goes when it's no longer broken. My biggest criticism (a common one) is that the non-skippable prostitution cutscenes with sailors/Jero are a bit of a pain. They were well written before!
Was surprised by the new interaction/development with Trissa. Are there any other new sex scenes?
Anyone else experiencing the error "Could not Open de Module, Module File might be corrupt" ?
@dekarbr This has come up a few times. Check that you have installed the ADWR files in exactly the right folders (see top of this page), and nowhere else. Remove any custom content from override. If running EE, ensure that you've added nothing to game installation folders like ovr, mod or hk,
There are several articles of clothing (mostly at Nora's dress shop) that are tops/shirts with no skirt, which I assume are intended to be combined with pants in the clothing customisation system. But the leather pants don't show up in the menu for customising them, except for the tank top, which incidentally is the only one with any AC value. Guessing this is a bug? Or am I missing cloth pants for sale somewhere?
You can mix and match the clothing types. And yes, there are cloth leggings somewhere.
I still can't imagine wearing plate mail panties.
There are cloth stockings, but no cloth pants/trousers that I can find. And the leather pants aren't able to be combined with some shirts.
At the end, I have
cloth stockings
reinforced leather pants
sheer pantyhose
low rise leather pants
This is *incredible* - I'm completely blown away just by the face lift you've given Betancuria. Is there any time estimate on when (or if) we can expect to see Part II getting a similar glow-up?
First off just wanted to say I am so excited for one of the best modules ever to get such a large EE update, thanks for all your work. If you ever decide to start a Patreon or something for doing more NWN content then I'd be there in a second.
Second I am looking for a small spoiler tip, is there a way to do the tailoring beggar's outfit with the 19 Cha model option if you do a 14 Cha princess?
Lastly I'd love to see someone do a build guide for the princess because I am terrible at making them myself in 3.5 (and tbh every other edition). Do people usually multiclass a bit of Fighter from primarily Thief? I've seen multiple people mention Shadowdancer too. What skills are people skipping, is lore worth it in this? That kinda stuff.
Anywho thanks a ton.
In the older versions of ADwR (NWN V1.69) you could wear the dress of Chella's daughter for CHA bonus of +2 and then go for the beauty shop for make up for an additional CHA bonus of +3, so: 14+2+3=19.
In the new NWN EE version of ADwR the dress of Chella's daughter gives you a skill bonus instead of an ability bonus. But there is a new clothing system, now you can change your shoes! If the Princess wears something like high heels you get a CHA bonus of +2, then you go for the beauty shop for make up for another +3 bonus, and you are at CHA 19 again. Hint: The Princess shares a room with Trissa, who has a locked chest, doesn't stop someone with the lockpicking-skill from opening it.
Viable multiclass options are rogue/cleric, rogue/wizard and rogue/sorcerer with only one level of rogue invested; but you must choose an option for picking locks and disarming traps, example: a cleric should choose the trickery domain, while wizards and sorcerers should use the faerie-familar; useful spells are invisibilty (greater-), knock and find traps. Warning!: Playing a spellcaster in this module is not easy! Resting is restricted, so you have to know where the resting places are and what kind of spells you need to cast.
Another viable multiclass options include rogue/fighter, rogue/barbarian, rogue/ranger and rogue/bard, but you have to invest more than one rogue level to get viable skill-levels in lockpicking, pickpocketing and disarming traps.
Very difficult to play are rogue/paladins, rogue/monks and rogue/druids because the module basically encourages chaotic behavior (stealing basically) which clashes with the alignment restrictions of those classes; you can play this class combinations but you would miss content to stay in alignment.
This multiclass options are more for the second or third playthrough if you want to change your gameplay.
The easiest way to play the game is to remain a pure rogue, with one one level dip into the shadowdancer prestige-class for hide in plain sight; if you play an evil princess you could also try to include assassin-levels into that build, but that is not really neccessary.
Critical skills are: hide, move silently, disarm trap, lockpicking, pickpocketing and search;
Very usefull skills to have are: bluff, persuade,craft trap, set traps, tumble and use magic device; (concentration for spellcaster)
occasional useful skills: lore, spellcraft, discipline, perform, heal, intimidate and parry;
nearly never used: spot, listen, taunt, craft weapon and craft armor and ride.
I know of a situation in the current version of part 2 (NWN V1.69) where you can use the listen-skill to eavesdrop a conversation between Pia and Vico, but that has nothing to do with the current version of part 1 (NWN EE).
I appreciate the detailed writeup. The only thing left I have any question about is more detail for pure Rogue plus 1 Shadowblade level.
For stats I was thinking something along the lines of Str 10, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 14. Is that around what you would go, or would you do something like dropping Con and Str to get Dex 17 or ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also feats. Feats are hard. It seems like a lot of people go for Two Weapon Fighting, but you also need Dodge and Mobility for the Shadowblade class on top of I assume Weapon Finesse at level 3. So you get 2 feats at level 1, then 3 6 9 12. Shadowblade needs 10 Tumble so you would need Dodge and Mobility by level 6 to go Shadowblade the earliest level possible, 7? So something like 1: Two Weapon Fighting and Dodge, 3: Weapon Finesse, 6: Mobility, 9: Ambidexterity, 12: Improved Two Weapon Fighting? Or do you think that putting 3 feats in Two Weapon Fighting is worth the investment in this module?
