So I'm doing 'Tony the Tiger' quest now and it's the first time I've delayed it until lvl 7 for the second level of Rogue and the 10 Search ranks.
The princess is strolling along the corridors of her new house, when suddenly she notices something.
Turns out in this version Tony has a secret room! Complete with a pretty mean surprise that caught me off guard the first time around.
Unfortunately the door inside it are pick-proof locked and none of the servants seem to posess the key.
I don't seem to remember finding the key to that room when doing the quest the last time... what did I miss?
now I am curious. where exactly is it?
Upstairs, on the western wall of the main hall.
Fair warning though, I've only managed to find the door by boosting Search to around +16.
Is the Raventower questline broken for me?
Until now the new version was quit interresting to play, BUT now the redesigned Raventower plot - at least for me - is very frustrating.
No clue on how to proceed.
I am now stuck at Tereks tower with Terek beeing unkillable because he always returns to becomming "blue" again and returning to the same dialog.
At the moment I supsect that ithe questline is so tightly scripted that a forced series of actions need to be done in a particular sequence in order to proceed.
Is it best to start the questline all over agaim?
Thankfully had no trouble doing this quest as follows: SPOILER ALERT!
1) In the prison you can rest and will be attacked by robed guys. Maybe you can lock the door as well? Go around the cells, be sure to get your missing weapons next to the room with the dogs (if you surrendered them) and be mindful of the kraken. There's 2 hidden doors to a basement with crates and traps, be sure to check it out for a cutscene with Terek and Claile.
2) Go up the castle to the middle/upper floor and Castias' room. Offer to help investigate the case and he invites you to dinner the following day. Leave the castle, go to the inn and sleep until then. Go back to his room an be prepared for a fight. Pick up the treaty next to his body on the floor. With it you can go to the Dhorne Emissary on the lower castle floor, he's in a room NE-ish. Tell him what you found so far and he will tell you to go back to Castias' room. Do so but be prepared for another fight. No need to wait for an hour, just go up after talking to the emissary.
3) Pick up the rod from the dead Priest after the fight and now a reviving spree begins. Start with Castias, then go outside the castle to the church/chapel. Unlock the door on the right inside and you will access the crypt. Castias' proximity will let you through the glowy door and there's some sarcophagi there. Use the rod on 2 of them to revive Dana and the Baron ( a dialogue option tells you which ones are the right ones, there's some gems in the others).
4) Make your way back to the cells (I used the hidden door in the bathroom of the barons brother - who can't be revived, the one who got cheated on) and then into the basement where you watched Terek and Claile. Get Claile and head to Terek's Tower.
From there on it's pretty straight forward. Hope this helps!
Thanks very much! - This helped to figure things out.
SPOILER ALERT!
There is only 1 way only 1 dialog option to finish the questline satisfactory: You have to give the papers to the emmisary.
All other options prevent the priest (with the important wand of resurrection) from appearing.
Eg. Telling the emmissary about the papers you found in his desk. => This was the second time I killed him.
The first time I killed him using stealth.
In both tries I was stuck because I did not get the wand of resurrection.
I was "ahead" of the main quest many times by killing someone, which is not optimal as the quest line is scripted very linear.
For example I had already killed Claile and she appeared alive again later on.
BUT now it seems that after I have now finished the quest line AND Pia still does not want to sleep with me at the mermaid that I have to backtrack hours of play time.
I am completely clueless were I broke the Pia romance
Is there a new wiki being made for the game as the old one is now pretty outdated?
So, let's talk about Kena… Warning: spoilers ahead.
Using all my hard-earned rogue skills, I can defeat Kena the first time; without resorting to cheats, I might add. (Picking an enemy's pockets before a fight is a sound tactic.) Once I take her down, she disappears.
Then, she reappears. However, I cannot manage to bring her down a second time. I keep hitting her with her own Wand of Missiles, but she just keeps hovering 'Near Death'. She cannot heal herself (I took all her potions), she cannot use spells (Wand of Oblivion FTW) and I took her wands as well, so she just keeps punching me. So, while I can easily keep myself alive, I;m not able to take her out. Am I missing something?
I beat her using the same tactics but in my case she did not reappear (perhaps because I left too early?).
My guess is that it's a bug and she's not supposed to reappear. In the first versions Kena was just immortal and you could not win the fight. This was changed in one of the latest versions but perhaps there's still a bug that makes her reappear.
So I understand that Undertow is not completeable in this version then?
My guess regarding the quest was that killing Kena (somehow) will resolve it...
From looking at the module in the toolset I know that the quest is supposed to end when you return to 'Desser'. However i never managed to do that because I never found him. Reason is that in my game the 2nd Desser is already dead (HP=0) and that's the reason why the script that moves him fails. And without a 'living' 2nd Desser you can't complete the quest.
Killing Kena is not required (and never was as you're not supposed to kill her). You only have to see her (or maybe talk to her).
Well, talking it out doesn't seem to be an option, does it?
I've tried every single dialogue option presented when she spots the Princess and none seem to placate her and prevent her from going for blood.
Have you tried resurrecting Desser somehow? The way the quest is written seems to imply that Kena's curse is keeping him alive. It would make sense for her to "set him free" by ending it.
Kena will always go hostile. In previous versions you had ro run from her as she was immortal. In the current version she's still immortal but you can fight her as she will teleport away once she show drops below a certain no of hitpoints.
As for Desser: you can find the 2nd Desser using DebugMode and chooser. But it's his OnDisturbed script that ends the quest. And that does not run if he's dead (and I guess it won't work if you run it using ##dm_runscript). He's dead because he gets killed by Nathan and the rest of funeral party (faction problem). You can't ressurect him (?) and that makes it impossible to finish the quest. But at least you can take his ring.
Never met Kena in two playthroughs.
So it looks to me that the real problem is that the funeral party spawn to the location the Dead Desser is located. So the quest might be completable if you don't do Caron's funeral. Otherwise, it looks like another waypoint is needed to keep Dead Desser separate from the funeral party.
This mod just popped in my mind couple days ago, seeing you back and still updating is such a blessing Val. Thank you for your efforts and amazing mod, it's great to know you came back to take care of this masterpiece.
Stuck again, in the Dhorn Love/Dhorn Slayer dual quest.
Going along with a recommendation from the old Wiki page, I delayed doing the quests so I can get some extra exp by doing Death in the Family.
Then I had the little randez-vous from the first quest and was given a choice - to ask about Simon from DS or about the targets of DitF. The dialog was indeed kind enough to warn me that going with the prior will lock me out of doing the latter... So I went with the obvious choice and continued DitF. Unfortunately while Jero said to look him up in Tald's Tavern for some further action, he doesn't seem to appear regardless of the time I check in there.
Is completing the dual quest and DitF mutually exclusive? Or maybe I've managed to crash a script that would cause him to spawn at Tald's again?
EDIT: Nevermind, found him. He apparently only drops by the tavern between midnight and 4AM after the first "date"
thanks a lot for updating this, i really enjoyed it
Weird, but I cannot start the module now, it says the module file is corrupt, even though it used to be fine. The old versions of the module also do not work. Other modules work fine. Some conflict suddenly?
It just keeps saying that module file might be corrupt. Tried starting 2.10 and 2.11, the save file from 2.03 loaded fine.
Spoiler.
Hello, I'm need help because I'm hard stuck doing quest "The Golden Chalice'', I can't find two hidden doors. I readed what they hard two find, but I can't find them at all. I understand, where they must be placed, but still can't find. Did my character and familiar just can't find them becasue low skills? If so I'm permamently stuck and loose my 40 hours proggress in this mod. Maybe you can say me where I'm exactly must stay to find door or how can I leave the island? Thanks for help, sorry for bad English.
They are in the central room to the left and to the right behind some kind of pilar (v2.11). Next to each is a large bloodstain (v2.11). Actually I think especially in the current version they are hard to miss.
[edit] DC is 25 so you need at least a search skill of 5 (something you should have at lvl 1).[/edit]
Thanks for answer. Sadly, but it's impossible for me to find doors. I'm staying on bloodstain between wall and pillar (closer to wall) for 30 minute real time and nothing. My character have 0 points on search, my familiar have 7 points on search.
I think it's only the PC that matters. Companions, familiars, ... do not count.
No search ranks. No INT bonus? No items to increase search? That's bad character design I would say.
You could help yourself by cheating. Either jump through the wall or give yourself some XP to level up and take some search ranks.
Well, It's strange hearing about bad character design in games like Neverwinter Nights, where you can create and play for any character you want. You know, Role Playing games. The description of the requirements of the module does not say anything about the search skill. What's more, the descripition says ''There's no certain skill level required to finish the module (exeption pick pocket skill). So I see here problem, because you definitely need search skill to not stuck in module. I have never used cheats in NWN before, but yeah, cheat ''SetINT'' help me.
Well, if you play a module that has lots of traps and secret doors but you refuse to spend any points into search then it's not... really smart (or bad character design). That's like playing a hack'n'slash module but refusing to fight anyone. Of course you can play any character you want but then you also have to accept that not every character succeeds. Some of them will just fail, just like in real life not everyone has success all the time.
You can use the console commands to give yourself some INT temporary to boost your search (each 2 poitns give 1 point to search). Though if the familiar has been finding hidden doors before, no idea why it stops now. One thing i noticed with the EE version (could be the mod ofc, haven't played other mods yet with EE version), is that i got stuck waiting for the search to find something even with pretty standard Rogue, 14int and max search.
Thanks, I used ''SetINT'' cheat to find doors. Playing on NWN:EE, my character have 10 INT, and no Search skill, never have a problem to find hidden doors before Temple of Hyath.
Are you playing the current version? I'm asking because this was a bug in one of the older versions.
In the older version Castias was killed by a floor trigger script. You could try to not trigger that script for example by jumping through the wall into the room next to Castias using DebugMode and Num+.
I still cannot start the module, the game says the module file might be corrupt. Can it be because of the latest patch?
Download seems okay for me as I can start the module without any problems. Have you tried to re-download the module? Most likely your download got corrupted somehow.
Tried it a couple of times already.
Hi! First of all, I want to say thank you for bringing the second life to my favoirite module :) I have finished the updated version recently and have some propositions for it's improval.
1. The module is mostly designed for rogue, but it is also playable as a sorceress, for example. Would be great to have some specific items and content for mages. E.g., bonus exp book in Academy, as it was previosly, mb some different options in mage-related places, more places to rest, some early game items, etc. Sorceress class also matches well with Princess backstory (suddenly awakened magic abilities for person, who had never studied magic before).
2. Conversation of Dhorn with a spy in sewers can be easily missed, and that's exactly what happened with me. Had to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what I've missed. In old version you couldn't miss this, and I think it would be better to put them closer to the main route to the hideout.
3. I love the new version of Temple of Hyath but I think there should be a way to bring your companions to the lower levels without fighting the whole undead army on the level with 4 prists. This fight is difficult and a bit boring.
4. Mb a few more clues how to find a Mando's brother? That was also quite a tricky quest, because you can't open the door to Dhorn area in sewers when you get there for the first time, and then you just forget about it.
I hope you consider some of my propositions. And once again I want to thank you for the new update. Waiting for the part 2 :)
3) I think you don't have to fight any of the undeads. You can pickpocket the keys (gives extra XP) and you can sneak past the other undeads (or use invisibility).
You can sneak past them, of course. But your companions can't. In the old version you don't have to go back to thia area with Christano and Myra.
You play a sorceress... cast Invisibility... or let them use a potion.
I solved my problem of module not starting, but in a weird way. I put the module file not only in the My Documents NWN folder, but also into the game's install folder. Even more fun fact - there are some .mod files there, but they are now shown in the starting menu because they are not in the doc folder.
That is... interesting, to say the least. But I'm glad you found a way to get the module started!
Sometimes, the... noises... during prostitution scenes don't play. I don't know what triggers this, since it seems to be rare. That aside, I'm being a broken record, but please consider reverting to the old prostitution scenes, or at least making the cutscene skippable.
I'm also getting the cooks and kitchen staff randomly teleporting around the Bear Pit's kitchen, but this may be related to having a 35-inch monitor.
BTW, I prefer dialogues to animations and noises in those prostitution scenes, like in old versions. Tried them only a couple of times, but they were quite well-written and had a lot of variations.
I loved this original mod. I have recently started a new character with this new version.
WOW. The graphics are stunningly beautiful. Also, I love how, now, the game automatically changes the hair color to go with the storyline. VERY cool feature.
I am looking forward to seeing what else has changed. Well done, so far. :-)
What do I do with the Undertow quest? My Princess persuaded the guy at the cemetery. got an amulet from him, searched the tower and found the bodies of missing people there, but after leaving the tower the quest giver, Kana's boy, it not there. Did I miss something or there is something on the way?
The quest giver is supposed to be where you have met him. However he has changed somewhat and will attack you. That will end the quest. Unfortunately because of a bug he does not appear: https://neverwintervault.org/comment/61432#comment-61432
OK, I've just finished a very thorough play of the latest version, time for a short review.
I am a huge fan of these modules since forever, since the old vault and old versions, I have seen quite a lot of updates, and was very sad when after a big update to Part 1 and a promise of the same update for part 2 Valine disappeared for ten years or so. And when I saw the update and realised (not right away) that 2acornupper is Valine I was very, very glad.
Definitely I compared it to the original all the time - I played it five or six times, and remember it pretty damn well. First of all, it is beautiful - Betancuria seems so much more alive now with all the proper atmosphere of a medieval dark fantasy city. With Aurora engine pathfinding all of these narrow passages and staircases can be a pain in the back, but it is not the first time I played NWN, so I survived.
The story didn't change much, just became more polished. Loved new dialogues and roleplaying, added character depth, Pia romance became even better. Didn't like animated sex scenes in prostitution quest, in the original they were very well-written and had lots of variations. Noticed a missing sex scene in the Bank Raider quest, but that scene in the hunting lodge seemed forced and pure fanservice back then, so it's Ok that it is removed, however hot and well-written it was. Loved lots of variations of the Princess' apprearance, even though those accessories take quite a lot of space in the inventory. Several intimate haircuts? Piercing down there? Wow!
So the only question I have left is this: when will we get new Part 2? Please? Pretty please?
Ok you got me, I will buy NWN EE only to play ADWR even if I think re-publishing games like this (EE = hardly no changes but lack of compatibility) is just a gold-digging scheme ;)
Beautiful
A few minor issues so far.
1) After fino mission #2 I left to do other stuff and fino disappeared. I ran dm_runscript do_goto_finhome1 and he did not appear although i teleported ok, ran dm_fino_gohome_3 and he appeared correctly so I could continue the story. Not sure what is going on there.
2) Missed conversation saying you hear people speaking in sewers and had to look using nwtoolset to find it, believe message "Bless my tarnished soul" was over floating text so didn't notice it.
3) Had issues with food system, took acid damage as first time i noticed i was hungry and got dropped stats, had to eat enough for family of a dozen footballers and five buckets of water from memory. No issue I commented out the relevant code and started again.
4) Aggroed guard by misclicking and moving into area in north of city which he was guarding, Now getting used to stopping at checkpoints and avoiding running past guards
Cheers
