Note: this module has an item strip, without which it would've been impossible to balance the combat. A workaround module has been added to the list, for those people who experienced problems with the module's ending. Warning: the workaround is only the module's finale.
gaoneng has been added to the list of co-authors for this module. There comes a time when a contributor becomes a major contributor and gaoneng has certainly crossed that line :)
*Note: This module requires a colour pack (4 files) that need to go into override.

Could you explain what you mean by CTD?
CTD = Crash To Desktop, I suppose.
Yep :)
Hi,
Warning - SPOILERS
I have played this mod several times, each with a different class / build. Now I am playing a Ranger, and I have encountered a problem in the Sholea waste lands: as I entered Zalrin Ud'lath, I meet the Umber Hulk male, who asks me to save his female. But when I rush to the next room to save her from the spiders, she's hostile, and when she dies I don't get that thing with which to persaude her mate to sell me his items... Very disapointing! I haven't killed anyone I shouldn't have, as far as I remember. I always start fights through the dialoge or when the creature is originally hostile. I have tried loading an earlier saved game, but I don't want to go to far back... Any suggestion / solution?
Also: so far I have always found only 5 Tomes of Power. The one that augments my Wisdom I never found. Where is it?
Thanks! Awsome mod, BTW. There should be a sequel!
Umber Hulk doesn't have much good stuff anyway. Just a place to offload some of the items you accumulate, I would say. I did not have her go Red, so that was nice!
You can use DEBUG Commands to undo the hostility- I have encountered similar bugs in other modules with EE before. Try googling NWN Debug Commands, there is quite a list!
See this wiki page for starters and this wiki page for the commands.

Played few years ago, never voted. Still hopeful for a sequel.
Sorry no QA this time :/
There would have been a sequel, maybe a trilogy even, if bad health didn't interfere, Werelynx... Coincidentally I'm currently replaying it after grabbing Diamond Ed fro GoG. It was a lot of fun to make, and fun to play too even after all this time :)
It was a real pity about the 2nd mod. I'd put together a really good tem and had good ideas. Just couldn't cope with it, keep it all together, at the time. It was disappointing for my team because they'd done a lot of work.
Sequel at this stage though is out of the question. Too much work for what would be a very small target audience, and I've lost all the data anyway.. :/
Cheers! Thanks for the belated vote! :)
This one is a classic!
Played this one through with a 20th Level Human Ranger with 1.69. I did not experience any major bugs.
This is a very detailed rich module with plenty of action. The story and characters are well thought out and it is one of those modules where you really can't wait to "off" the baddie by the time you reach the end.
The battles were mostly right in line with my character level. There is tons of unique equipment. The world is unique and yet still tied to the FR multiverse. I would really like to go back and give this one a go with a spell caster.
Kudos to the team that built this one, it clearly took many, many man hours to create this excellent module. Like the others I sure wish there had been a sequel!
I highly recommend this module.
Cheers, mate. Thanks for the kind words and the vote :)
Very nice, except for the hostile female Umber hulk. Dwarven cleric had the most fun as well as a dwarven Baerbarian and a Half-elf ranger/sorcerer .
very re-playable
Cheers, mate. Wonder if it was an AOE spell that caused the problem? I'm replaying the mod currently with a wiz so I'll check it out.
Just tried to play this on EE, which crashes each time you try to start the game.Anyone have any ideas whether this problem can be overcome?Edit: Works fine with the latest version of EE.
EE is not compatable with non-EE mods unfortunatly
Sorry, that's incorrect. In general, older modules work fine on EE.
It is true that modules created with the EE toolset don't run on 1.69, unless tweaked, but that's obviously not the problem here.
This module is clearly an exception. It might be an EE bug, so it would be sensible to raise a ticket. Also, there have been isolated cases of custom tilesets containing serious faults that 1.69 somehow ignores - maybe someone could look into that if they have the time.
People are reporting crashes that have never been encountered before. Seems a bit hit n miss. Can only be an EE issue. This mod was thoroughly debugged over a relatively long period of time. Suggest any issues be reported to Beamdog.
Just replayed this wonderful game using the latest version of EE and everything was fine.
Shame about part 2 - would have been great to find out what happened.
Very enjoyable Mod with an astounding array of custom equipment. Many thanks for sharing.
Cheers, mate. Thanks for the vote :)
Hi there.
Too echo what others have said an awesome mod, clearly a LOT of work has gone into this. Theres lot to like about this mod, but for me its the enemy enounters, tough but if you use your head doable, such a contrast to enemy encounters in HOTU (with exceptions they are far far too easy, breaking immersion). The area design also deserve a mention, they just felt right and also helped with the immersion.
Thanks again for your teams time and effort, really appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback and the vote :) It's really cool to hear some positive stuff about general design in particular. We always tried very hard to create immersive ambience in all facets of this module, and it was thoroughly play-tested by other modders eg Firestarter, Akkei. Cheers, mate.
Great mod, shame about the sequel, trust your health much better now. The audience might be a bit bigger if it will play on the Beamdog app for Android.
I played this module quite a bit on both EE for PC and Android, without issues.
Really liking this one, perhaps the best module I have played, among hundreds! And despite the stripping! Nice to have some great gear to find/win/buy from the various vendors and high level enemies. In many cases the equipment was as good or better than what I have made in Forge Modules! Actually as you go on there is almost too much to decide between, with different benefits and drawbacks. My Henchie gal Skoda(?) stopped participating in fights, so I traded her in! Too bad as for a while she was powerful. I like being able to outfit my helpers, which you can do in spades in this mod.
The story was a good one, with mutilple allies and enemies, many extremely powerful and interesting. A satisfying play, for sure. Try it!
Spoilers:
I was able to figure out the sequence of the light switches to save the mage: Right Yellow, Red, Left Yellow, White. These are supposed to correspong to the words of the Poem, which are Fire (not Red?), Evil, Holy and Cold(ly). A tough puzzle, and as you mess around, the sage gets hurt, badly! Save before doing this one.
First report ever of a hench not helping you fight. Can you provide more info eg was her inventory full of heavy gear so she couldn't move? Or she just wouldn't initiate combat? Thanks for the great vote. ps you can heal the mage if he gets hurt, item or spell. Too much gear is a complaint I get occasionally, though most people seem to like it. I started my modding "career' making custom items for other modders. Seem to have a knack for it, coming up with a little story etc. Cheers.
One of my main reasons for playing and liking a module is the gear that I can find, buy, win, modify etc...No complaints, it was just tough deciding on what I should equip, keep, that sort of thing. Thank you for the extra effort to come up with the custom stuff!
I have had times in other mods where the henchperson was not a good fighter, would not enter the fray so to speak! I think if I remember this correctly she stood by and watched, didnt even clap or anything! She was not weighed down...
Played it again and this time my little barbarian chick helped me out greatly. As a matter of fact she might have been a better fighter than me! Unheard of!! One thing that was a bit of a let down was the equipment set for a fighter, Cutchek's Doom. I have heard of this name from other modules, but the 9 pc grouping presented here did not seem to help me in any way so I had to put them back in a pack. Too bad but my equipment was better than this set. I was able to get all the way to the end without dying(!) and then the abrupt ending. Nice to have the hench interface working so well and the custom equipment that is available. Very nice stuff indeed. Thanks for the great effort, team!
A great modules
One of the best modules I've played, in the hundreds of modules I have used! I would also enjoy a sequel but understand about the health. The design and complexity of the module uses all aspects of the NWN engine, well done! I can see the difficulties of CTD, I had a problem when dealing with Death's door and could not get back control of desktop, the only solution was to crash module until right solution worked. The dialog in the movie dialog would not engage until (SPOILER: you reengaged with Krin'Gotha)., otherwise you can not exit the movie.
Great work and design! Another suggestion would be to design a walkthrough to help understand the vastness of the module and address any confusion. Thank you for your hard work,,,:-)
Thanks for the votes, guys. dgudy87, the potential problem with the final cutscene is that sometimes Krin doesn't detach properly following your final encounter with the bad guy, and when you get to the last area she runs back to you, tripping all the cutscene triggers... I've put up a small workaround module but it takes you all the way back to the Seer, which is what many players wanted.
Is there some kind of walkthrough available? Or any info on shops etc? I read that you should lookout for secrets but so far I've only found one after going through the portal. Timewise I should be halfway at least now but no luck so far. I'm a Monk/Fighter/Weapon Master and even though there are great Monk items with just fist fighting, I built my character to be a dual wield Kama gal but the only Kama I can buy is from the shop you find at the start. It's really annoying and I don't feel like playing on without proper kamas.
So far the mod is unique and great fun. Too bad the characters don't get to go to level 40 all the way to get a really epic feeling about it :)
Ran into a few bugs along the way.
I'll put them here and update while I'm playing and if I encounter more of course.
- Cruso Under Siege Quest
After finishing thos quest I have an active quest still that is blank and it show the message:
ERROR, blank journal entry: CrusoUnderSeige (siege is misspelled there). The Cruso Under Seige (misspelled here as well) is also a completed quest for me so it doesn't seem to have any repercussions.
- Deep Mine Quest.
On my first run, I ignored Mani and went on to kill everyone and took the quest items. I then talked to Mani and took him back to the camp. Was ambushed a few times and when I came back I was told to blow up the barrel. I did but no quest got completed or updated. I returned to Mani and Shamus but they told me to blow up the thing, which I just already did, meaning I had to reload and redo it all.
On my second run I first talked to Mani, then got the tools and got back to him and everything worked out fine. No ambushes when taking Mani back to the camp though.
Hey FunBun. My apologies about the spelling error. With over 400k words of dialogue alone (so the convo editor tells me), not counting descriptions etc etc I was bound to get some of it wrong. Merchants: 2 in monastery areas, 1 in first forest area (potions), another in heart of the forest (Lil momma, caravan), clerical and wizard/sorc shops in Dunefin castle (completed quests allow access), also a couple of specialty shops in the castle, another in wasteland area (caravan), 1 in first drow area and another in the last (hut), 2 good ones in the death plane. Could be others. Can't remember (been awhile). Re your other problems, I suspect that you don't speak enough to obviously important NPCs. Some of them are quest givers. Cheers.
You may be correct about kama paucity. Think a few good ones drop though.
Just replayed this Mod, which is truly a masterpiece and very enjoyable. I would love to see the sequel written - I really want to know what happens and get to play more of this fabulous adventure.
Cheers, Surazal. Sequel was planned, had a great team assembled but life got in the way. Serious medical issues...
Very sorry to hear that. All the very best wishes for the future.
I've finished the module for three times but still have no clues how to open the gate to the mutation device in the cave. Any ideas anyone?
